Hi, Not sure if this is the correct forum if not please move to where would be the appropriate forum attempted to locate a Windows Live ID / Sign On / Account forum couldn't find it. We are trying to determine the exact functionality distinctions between types of live id's and how to consolidate them without losing the benefits of "each". For example: We have an office365 id called username@domain.com now we also have a windows live id with the exact same nameusername@domain.com however these two logons have different passwords and access different functions. We would like to combine these two so that they are one logon but have access to both sets of "services" the services they offer are in fact different. In addition, the new outlook.com live id provides access to "email" differently than the "old"username@domain.com specifically activesync functions. In addition, we are previewing O365 Consumer for 2013 which provides a different set of skydrive apps 2013 web apps. It is very confusing exactly what features with which logon and why and how to combine these to one or two id's and to move "paid" services over. I am trying to repair Windows XP and the last few steps comes up with the following errors: Windows cannot copy this file and asks to retry or cancel. When I want to use my computer, I must insert the Lexmark CD and re-install it. My operating system is XP Pro and am using a Lexmark Z55 inkjet printer. I have to re-install the printer practically after every use. I ahve gone through technical help with Lexmark and they advise me to contact Microsoft. Somehow I installed a magnifier it's is exasperating because I can't get rid of it on my computer. I have a Gateway DX4710-09 that was restored to original from recovery disc set. I can not get it from AHCI CD-ROM boot to the original windows program. But if I could transfer my laptop Toshiba A665 series windows 7 to copy or clone if it's possible would this work? I purchased a SATA SEAGATE 1 TB to replace the original hard drive to the Gateway DX4710-09 model and it works great but this could also be the problem that causes the AHCI CD-ROM issue I'm having. Do I need to purchase this disc or could I get around this issue some away? I am trying to take some of the pressure off my laptop by transfering to a second hand desktop which I purchased without a hard drive. Could you help? The DX4710-09 came with Windows Vista which I do not have. My laptop Toshiba A665 has Windows 7 pre-installed that I purchased with key code. What steps can I take if any? View this thread

I'm having some strange issues with Windows 8 Pro and it's sleep settings. My desktop will randomly wake itself up and not go back to sleep so I come into the office in the morning and it's been running for I don't know how long. It will go to sleep for at least an hour before waking itself back up. It also locks the screen after only a few minutes even though I don't have it set to. Im trying to set up a wi-fi router and it would not let me to the Ciscoconnect software coz they need me to update my windows vista service pack 1. GOD YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY!!! Now when I do alt f I get a whole bunch of junk I don't need, but wait, I can still right click on the view and say new folder... Could you make me any more inefficient? You really need a mode for your os's like power user, where a power user is someone who knows how to use a keyboard. You got rid of the start menu but the first thing everyone that works for you does is goes and installs a 3rd party start menu... what a joke. Having an issue that is kind of annoying and confusing to me. If I boot my Windows 8 machine with DHCP disabled, Metro IE10 does not work. It will tell me that I don't have an internet connection. Windows 8 then complains of an issue with the network connection (but then fails to identify it). Meanwhile, IE10 from the desktop works fine. As soon as I enable and start DHCP (Network Location Awareness + Network List Service start with it) Metro IE10 works. If I stop DHCP again, Metro IE10 continues to work. Only after a reboot with DHCP Disabled does this happen. I am using a static configuration. One thing I noticed as well is that when I leave DHCP on, it slowly takes over my static IP config. Eventually it removes all of my static IP config and my connection stops working entirely. I left it with DHCP on over night and when I came in this morning I had no Network Adapter. I had to reboot. I just set up a fresh second workstation (Windows 8 "ready") and the same exact thing happens. These machines are VERY different physically. It hasn't declared war on my network adapter yet. i use windows 8 pro... there are many updates which require a restart to finish installation... these are already downloaded and every time system restarts, windows takes 15 minutes to install those updates and configures till 98%,.. later i get a message saying 'failure configuring updates' and it reverts changes... i lose at-least another 45 minutes... really fed up... does anyone have a solution to this problem? I made a booboo. Win 7, 64 Bit sys with, IE 10 release Preview, and service for 5. Will the wrong service pack 1 do frightening things inside of my poor PC? I can not install .Net 3.5 on my windows 8 pro. I have tried to go through: 1. Enable windows features 2. Windows Update when I try to install an application that requires 3.5 3. The full .Net 3.5 installer package And yes I have checked my internet connection. Als ik de SSD in Schijfbeheer een drive letter wil geven, zegt Vista dat ik de schijf eerst moet initialiseren. Formatteren van de SSD lukt ook niet. Daarbij zegt Vista dat de schijf tegen schrijven in beschermd. Ik heb op advies van Samsung in de BIOS de SATA-mode (SA2) op AHCI gezet. Hoe krijg ik mijn SSD als gewone drive te zien? Just upgraded my Dell Inspiron (4 months old) to Win 8 Pro. I wanted to take advantage of the free Media Pack upgrade, but am unable to do so because there are 4 updates that refuse to work: KB2770041 KB2768703 KB2769165 KB2770917 In looking at other posts, I see that this is not an uncommon problem. I have tried installing the individual components to these updates, and they all fail as well. I tried the approach of using msconfig to disable all the non-MS services first (and rebooting, of course), but that didn't work. Having spent a good 4 hours trying, I am simply giving up and am hoping to get feedback from Microsoft about how to make this happen. Anyone have any other suggestions? View this thread
