I've looked at many Microsoft websites, all of which try to direct me to get Win8, which I don't want right now. I've been having a lot of 'system issues' and though that an upgrade to Win7 Ultimate might help. However, I can't find out where/how to get it. No 'official' sales, it seems. Not sure I can trust the sellers on Amazon market-place after reading some of the user comments. Has anyone done this upgrade? All suggestions welcome! View the thread

Hi, We are not able to install Office 2010 and received "Software Protection Platform" is not installed error. I do not find "OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform" folder under "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft Shared". Original title: Vista SP2 update install froze during the 7th update of the 13 currently being installed. 2 updates successfully installed. 4 more are in a PENDING STATUS I am running windows vista home premium, sp2. I have Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail. My mother has Windows Vista and Windows Mail. She scanned a document and saved it as a pdf. She tried to send it to me as an attachment to an e-mail. The attachment arrived, Expert PDF Reader opened it, but it was blank. I tried to research why it was blank and informed that my security settings kept some attachments from opening as a security measure. I have still problems with Windows Updates for Windows 8 Pro. I had never found Background Intelligient Transfer Service for Automatically check and resolving. I had tried to installing 10 important updates for Windows 8. I have no any BITS in my old computer. I think my computer is old and I have old Windows Vista operating system. I used Windows 8 (32bit) upgrade disc to upgraded my computer. Windows Updates is not working installing any time. the dislog screen said Windows Updates must be repairs. I had searched the BITS but I surprise that there is no Computer Management and BITS too. I was unhappy with Windows Updates ways. Please help me and help me. Upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 8. It has a Sound Blaster Live sound card installed. All portions including Game Port worked GREAT with Windows XP. Sound is good with Windows 8 but Creative Game Port want function because I can't find a separate driver for it. I would think since this is 1 sound card and not 2 separate devices that 1 driver would fix all portions. Any suggestions on a fix. Can't seem to find any thing on the web. View this thread

I use Windows XP it has two disc drives (D & E). My computer no longer recognizes that a disc has been inserted, so: I cannot copy to disc I can't read data from discs I can't play CD's or DVD's What has happened? How can I get the computer to acknowledge these two drives again? View this thread

As of the last four or five days I've been getting a flag saying cannot install updates. Error 8024402F. Nothing I've tried will fix it so far. The windows Update screen tells me there have never been any updates to my computer which is clearly nonsense as this is a three year old Toshiba Tecra with OEM Windows 7 Professional. I've tried installing Explorer 9 as on some blog it was highlighted as a missing Active X component that needed MS Explorer but neither that or any of the other fix it sub routines seem to have any effect. Hi, Not sure if this is the correct forum if not please move to where would be the appropriate forum attempted to locate a Windows Live ID / Sign On / Account forum couldn't find it. We are trying to determine the exact functionality distinctions between types of live id's and how to consolidate them without losing the benefits of "each". For example: We have an office365 id called username@domain.com now we also have a windows live id with the exact same nameusername@domain.com however these two logons have different passwords and access different functions. We would like to combine these two so that they are one logon but have access to both sets of "services" the services they offer are in fact different. In addition, the new outlook.com live id provides access to "email" differently than the "old"username@domain.com specifically activesync functions. In addition, we are previewing O365 Consumer for 2013 which provides a different set of skydrive apps 2013 web apps. It is very confusing exactly what features with which logon and why and how to combine these to one or two id's and to move "paid" services over.
