I did a quick search on the forums, and couldn't find any thread similar to this one. I apologize if this is the wrong the thread group to post this in, and for the generic thread title I have many different questions pertaining to this subject however. Video app - Is there anyway I can generate a playlist for videos such that a video will play automatically after one finishes? If this is not available, is there an autoplay next file function? How do I get files that have different codecs and containers like mkv to be recognized inside the video app? When I go into my videos, I see all the files contained in my entire library joined together, ignoring which folder they belonged to. Is there anyway to display the proper folder hierarchy reflecting the folders the files originated from? Music app - My computer's display will turn off while I am playing music, I feel that since the computer is producing activity (playing music), an idle state should not be triggered. Is this not possible to achieve? I have album art embedded into each of my .mp3's or .flac's, but the music app does not seem to be picking it up, why is this? On the now playing section of the music app, there is no search for quick finding of a song. There is a scroll display where you can seek specific songs in some order, but if you have say, 700 files, it can be unruly to search. I have a Advent 7083 Laptop,Windows XP,with AVG anti Virus Protection(which has lapsed). I want to install Norton Gold Edition. When I tried to install Norton on myPC (eMachines) Vista Basics, my PC turned itself off and will not let me restore or do anything else. A message comes on PC screen to say:A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your PC. If this is the first time you've seen this STOP error screen, restart your computer. Check to make sure any Hardware or Software is properly installed..... If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed Hardware/Software. Disable BIOS memory options such as Caching or shadowing..... Technical Information: Stop: 0X0000C1F5 (0x00000000) (0x00000000) (0x00000000) (0x00000000) I have used F8 and safe mode, to no avail. PC returns to above screen. Any ideas? I received an email claiming to be from the Windows live team requesting my username and password from my hotmail account and from an alternative email. Some personal information was also requested. The reason for the request was that an upgrade of service required closing all unused and anonymous registered accounts. This email threatens to close my account and delete all email if I don't provide this information. This looks suspicious to me. How do I determine if this is legit? View this thread

Hi as above I am currently running Vista Ultimate 32 bit,And have just purchased a new computer that runs a 64 bit system I have a genuine windows OPS product that contains both 32&64 bit disk.How do I deactivate the 32 bit to install a clean 64 bit on a new HDD.I am planning to use a kill disk to wipe the HDD on my old computer but have read other people have had problem reinstalling the 64 bit version as windows will not activate the licence,Any help or advice on this would be really appreciated. Hello. I repeatly have the Errors 8024200D and 80070002 for KB2769195 and "Intel Corporation driver for Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.0)). I'm not able to install this two updates since a few days (I've already tried reboots, fix-it, fix-it aggressive, manual fix-it) - but all the patches from the last patchday I was able to install successfully. Default install destination is c:program files or c:program files (x86). Is it possible to change install destination to e:program files or e:program files (x86) as an example? Did anyone else get "otshot" on their computer? I can't find it using control panel to uninstall it, but each time I reboot it shows up, tries to change my email to Outlook. I have looked for answers on the web and I don't trust the sites I'm finding. I have used Malwarbytes to scrub my hard drive, it tells me it finds nothing amiss. I have used Microsoft Essentials to do a full scan, again no error messages. If anyone has a clue, I'd be glad for insight. I honestly don't know which step I took that allowed this to junp on to my system. Something I did Tuesday had about six things downloading. i can play a music cd on my computer but when i try to play a dvd i do not get any sound. i have tried fixing this for 3 weeks now but cannot get anything accomplished. when i first got my computer a couple of years ago it worked. is there any way that i could have deleted my decoder or messed it up? when i use Microsoft fix it it says that i do not have a decoder??????? i have windows vista home basic......was there a decoder installed on this when i got it??????? help View this thread

I'd like to work offline (no internet connection) moving hundreds of large videos, databases, and pictures I'm confident don't present a security problem, and I'd prefer to use the cycles for my task rather than needlessly scanning. I KNOW that I am infected somewhere because all of a sudden today, almost nothing works!! I can't download, the page is jumping all around. SOMETHING is dreadfully wrong! So I am trying to run a full MSE scan and it is now HALF way through and it has been 5 1/2 hours. I think maybe the virus or trojan or whatever is messing this up, also. I am elderly and I don't know much about computers, and I am really upset about this. I have PAID for Norton and when I took my computer into a repair shop about four months ago, he put MSE on and said not to use Norton. He said Norton is horrible and causes alot of problems. I am making a DVD using Windows DVD maker. After completion the DVD when played on a DVD player has blank video spots in it that are completely black, however the audio is still there. When I previewed the video in window movie maker prior to making the DVD maker it did not have any blank video spots in it. View this thread

Whenever I boot my computer two error windows appear. The first says: C:WINDOWSsystem32mustafx2.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. Choose 'close' to terminate the application. The second is identical, except that mustafx2.exe is replaced by mustafx.exe. If I click on 'close' for each, I can continue normally. A search on these two files reports that each is a virus. Yet Microsoft Safety Scanner and Microsoft Security Essentials don't pick them up. How can I get rid of them? I'm running Windows XP, SP3. Thanks for any help. View this thread

I bought a PC from a friend, running Windows Vista Home Premium. Was trying to run system recovery but stopped by error 0xd0000017. Then i created boot USB killdisk to Wipe and Clean my hard disk, but i think i accidentally wipe out the wrong volume. The PC could not restart stating file is missing please insert Windows Installation disc. I downloaded and burned Windows Vista Recovery ISO but failed to run the "Repair Computer", Failed to re-install. I'm guessing the only solution is to buy an upgrade of Windows 8 and clean install it. But what bothers me is: I don't know whether i have a partition ready when Windows 8 prompt "where do you want to install windows 8". Please Help. Thanks Alot. View this thread

kb2748349 This update is for Vista 64 bit. Update keeps failing. Ran update fix-it. Found a problem and fixed it. Still this one update fails. All others successful today. At first it says installed and restart computer. When Windows is loaded I get message that important update failed to install. I checked and it is not installed. The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. I don't think my computer has had any updates for a while now and I have automatic updates checked. Strangely, I had this same problem with my previous computer, also Windows XP. I've tried the solutions they offer but they don't work. I could never solve this issue on my old computer, either.
