My OS is Windows XP Pro SP3 and when I bought my computer in 2004 it had those drivers for xp pro. I want to know if I can update the drivers to the latest versions for XP Pro SP3? View this thread

Tinha o panda pro 2013 instalado normalmente (original) com expiração em 05.01.2013. comprei a nova versão global protection 2013 e não consigo ativar. como acabei ficando sem um ativirus no computador, acabei instalando o avg free. consigo abrir o aplicativo PANDA (que está instalado, mas ele pede toda hora pra reinicar o pc e QUANDO CLICO EM ATIVAR O PRODUTO, NADA ACONTECE. I was shutting down my laptop (Sony Vaio, if that's relevant) and along with the shut down, I believe Windows did a few updates. When I tried to turn on my laptop the next day, it kept telling me that it failed to configure certain updates and needed to restart. I restarted my laptop probably 4 or 5 times, and still, no progress. One of the options it showed me was to refresh Windows 8..I did NOT know this meant deleting a bunch of my programs, including the expensive: Microsoft Office Home and Student. My track pad doesn't work properly. I can't scroll by sliding down the right side of the track pad. The audio on my laptop has also changed. I have no idea why. Also, a lot of the Vaio care programs that came with the laptop are gone. Is there any way for me to recover all of the "Apps removed while refreshing" my PC? If it helps, I did update to Windows 8 from Windows 7 just a few weeks ago. Any help would be much appreciated! View this thread

instead of text my windows update screen will show me a reference #ExampleReference#. I clicked the blank button with no text on it (the download updates/install updates). Now my whole update screen is blank other than the windows update icon, the progress bar, the control panel location and the left link references. View this thread

I upgraded my Windows 7 into Windows 8 recently. Now my windows update is not working suddenly from yesterday. It was working fine and installing all drivers, windows updates and Microsoft updates automatically without any problem. Now it's showing it is only set to windows updates and not any other microsoft product updates and asks me to install that service from their site. It directs me to a site from where I can install Microsoft update feature. I did that several times by now. But it seems it's not working and showing the same message, "Get updates for other Microsoft products. Find out more." And update history shows I never installed any updates. And update is not working as well. If I click 'check for updates', the update window freezes for several minutes, and then started to work again, check for several minutes and always show error. What is the problem? I tried troubleshooting several time. It always shows problems are fixed. Should I refresh or reset the PC to solve this problem? If so, should I need to create a recovery partition first? I upgraded to windows 8 from windows 7 a month ago. I didn't create a recovery partition. My PC had a recovery partition created by the OEM when I bought it. My question is what happened to the already existing recovery partition when I upgraded? Was it upgraded to windows 8 as well? I created backup to an external hard drive 2 days ago. Now if I restart or refresh my PC, will I be needing windows in a disk or drive? I don't have one since I upgraded using online upgrade (upgrade assistant). I can't afford to buy new windows if all gone when resetting or refreshing a PC. I am a student and my family can't afford to buy new PC or windows. I upgraded using the offer which is affordable. Considering all these facts, please give me a solution. I want my windows upgrade tool to work again, not only for windows updates, but for other microsoft updates as well. Also I need the information on the recovery thing. Thank you. View this thread

I have Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. A few days ago Update KB2761494 tried to install. It has tried unsuccessfully 6 times. It gets to the configuration stage when I restart the computer, and makes it to Step 3 of the configuration stage, but then tells me the installation failed and the changes are reverting. I have Norton Security on my computer. Does anyone know what the problem is? View this thread

Windows Update for Windows 8 Pro does not work for my PC. I keep getting Failure Configuring Windows Updates. Reverting Changes. Do not turn off your computer. When checking my update history, the log shows that no updates have occurred for my PC. I have Windows Update turned on to automatically accept updates. This past January I bought a new Toshiba Satellite (L745-S4210) laptop, which came with the full, genuine version of Windows 7 Home Premium. I have the product key on the bottom of my laptop (I'm not sure if I should post it here or not - please let me know if I need to). This past October my computer contracted a virus that required everything on my computer to be uninstalled and erased off the hard drive, and the entire system needed to be rebooted. Everything was going fine until the past two or three weeks. A pop-up on my laptop kept saying, "The Windows 7 Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation." I wasn't sure what that meant until the past couple of days, when my screen told me my Windows 7 copy was "not genuine." I've repeatedly typed in the product key listed on the bottom of my laptop to activate Windows, and it will not recognize it. My question is, is there any way I can get my product key to work (or get a different product key) without having to pay for another one? I paid plenty for my laptop to have a genuine version of Windows 7, and I paid a good chunk of money to get my computer rebooted after the virus. I really don't want to have to buy another Windows 7 product key because a reboot wiped out my original one. Is there ANY WAY I can fix this for free? Thank you so much in advance for your help. I am asking for help in using the new interface. For instance if I have a folder called "imgDec2012" and I want to look in the folder for the file I want I don't know how to do this. Typing imagesDec2012 does not show me the folder as one of the things I can click on to narrow my search. Instead it shows me every file in the entire file system that includes "imgDec2012". The search does not show results of folders that match the search criteria. Of course all of this still works fine in the desktop mode but it seems the new interface should have some way of doing this as well. Another related problem is when I am trying to attach a file to an email either web based or the default email program in Windows 8. I am shown files in a folder that is in my documents folder but is not the root. I have to then slowly go up the tree structure and then head back down to the folder that I want to look in for the file to attach. If I try to speed things up and open the search charm it forgets that I wanted to attach a file and asks me how I want to open the file. There is no way to just enter the path for the file that I want. Looking for a file to attach that is not in the Documents folder is an incredibly slow task and if I don't remember the exact path then I am out of luck since I can't search for the file that I want to attach. In one case the folder that contained the file that I wanted to attach did not show up in the list. I was not able to get to the file in this way. In disbelieve I have repeated the procedure of "Go up" then clicking on the folder on my way back down only to discover the folder I need was not in the list. I even went up all the way to the root and back down and when I got to where the folder should be it was not on the list. View the full article

Why is it that Microsoft Security Essentials states I haven't ran a scan in awhile, when infact I have. Routinely, I will conduct an update and then run a full scan. The next day, the silly icon is yellow and the note states I haven't ran a scan in awile. What is up with that picture? Maybe my question is best answered by the release of what is supossed to be the "latest" and "greatest" verision of windows...Window 8. With this I mean, Microsoft Security Essentials is not compatible with Windows 8. Well huh...maybe the people at microsoft realized their product is less than, shall we say, worth having. Afterall, why create a progarm, have updates for it (which seemes like every hour), label it as "this or that", and then make it where it is not compatible with with their newest windows verision release?
