Hi. After a windows update, system asked to reboot the computer. After that reboot, it stuck at Windows 8 welcome screen, with the cursor keep spinning. I tried to reset my system, and same thing happened. How to solve this ?? View this thread

I have Win 7 (pre-installed on alienware). I use Norton security suite. I have tried twice to download and install some windows updates, each time having to do a system restore to before the date. Each time attempted I have lost internet connectivity. My Wi-Fi notices my SSID, says it has full strength, but will not connect. When I receive a video as an attachment to an e-mail, my Windows Media Player will open the attachment but will not play it. However, if I go directly to the appropriate website (e.g. Youtube), the Windows Media Player will play the same video that it would not play from my e-mail. How do I get it to play directly from the e-mail? View this thread

I understand the &quotWelcome Screen&quot on win 7 pro is the user name in the center of the screen with a place to put the password and &quotswitch user&quot underneath it. I understand that the &quotLogon Screen&quot has Icons for each user on the screen plus an icon for &quotother user&quot. I have a domain and some of my win 7 pro 32-bit machines after control/alt/delete go the the &quotWelcome Screen&quot so all I have to do is type in the password and hit enter. I have the same version of win 7 pro 32-bit on other machines and after control/alt/delete they first go to the &quotLogon Screen&quot where I have to manually select a user, hit enter, and then I come to the &quotwelcome screen&quot where I can put the password in. Since some of my machines bypass the &quotLogon Screen&quot, I know there is a way to get all of my machines to go to the &quotwelcome screen&quot directly after control/alt/delete instead of going to the &quotLogon Screen&quot. I have tried lots of fixes, but none have worked. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if I can't bypass the &quotLogon Screen&quot, is there a way to select the user I want with the keyboard instead of the mouse? View the full article

I would like to have my desktop auto-start to perform backups while I am away from the unit, and not interfere with my operations while I am at the PC. I have the time set fine, but can't get around having to click the avatar in order to begin the process. The hidden Administrator profile has been disabled in the computer manager. I think I may have found a bug. My Outlook 2013 profile has more than 75 rules. When I started testing Outlook 2013, I got the message "The rules on this computer do not match the rules on Microsoft Exchange. Only one set of rules can be kept. You will usually want to keep the rules on the server. Which rules do you want to keep?" I did the following troubleshooting: 1. I created a new Outlook profile. This didn't fix the issue. 2. I exported my rules, cleared them using "outlook /cleanrules", then reimported the rules. This didn't fix the issue. 3. I cleared the rules again (outlook /cleanrules), then hand-entered the rules. This also didn't fix the issue. 4. I reduced the number of rules to less than 50. This FIXED the problem. 5. When I entered rule #51, the problem came back. When I removed ruled #51, the problem was again fixed. Does anyone know of a fix or workaround to this issue? Thanks. View this thread

The motherboard burned up in my 2 year old computer running Windows 7. After replacing the motherboard, the sysem would not boot-up and I had to reloaded the operating system. When I went to activate the software, I found that the product key did not work. So,I telephoned Microsoft thinking this is just some security measure to keep the thieves from stealing Microsoft's products. I am good with that since it helps to keep the price down on the operating system. Sadly, I was informed by the Microsoft telephone support representative that I would have to pay for a new product key to be generated. After 48 minutes of trying to explain that it was the same computer just a different motherboard, I finally asked to speak with a supervisor. After another 15 minute wait, the representative came back to say his supervisor would make this one-time exception and give me a new product key. Sad, Sad, Sad over an hour on the phone trying to get a license for something I already own. What am I suppose to do in the future if something fails on my computer. I bought a license from Microsoft. I should not have to keep paying for the same product. We had the same problem at work about 6 months later when we upgraded the CPU from a single core to a double core. When the system crashed on boot-up our company's "computer guru" decided to reload the Windows 7. When it would not accept the product key he called Microsoft and got the same run around. He told them everything was the same except the CPU. His representative told him his actions voided Microsoft license agreement. The guru's solution was to run down to BestBuy and get another copy of Win 7. In all my years with Microsoft, from DOS 5.0 & Windows 3.0 though Windows 8, I have never really understood so many people beating on Microsoft's licensing agreements. I always attributed it to the lowly Apple fanatic. Maybe I have been too much a Microsoft fanatic. View the thread

Hi. I have windows 7 Home Premium x64 (With SP1) installed here. I need to run some programs here as administrator right-clicking in the link of the program on the desktop and selecting "Run as Administrator". The main problem is that nothing happens... I Can't see the related process or even "consent.exe" running... no warning pop ups, nothing at all. My account is Admin and UAC is ON, with "standart" Settings.
