  1. my Pc cleaner says that I have 223 system problems, 927 security defence, Pc optimizer has 21 problems, privacycleaner has 3086 problems, system performance has 9 problems, and junk files and clutter has 910 problems. How can I fix all these without putting out money. I can't afford it? View the thread
  2. The latest Windows 7 update crashed my wireless networking. I spent hours blaming my AP until I realized my tablet and phone had no problems. Restored my laptop to Dec 17 and connected immediately. Problem resolved. Definitely worried about doing further updates so I am only going to accept updates in a month or so and hope Microsoft has resolved the issue. View the thread
  3. This is for my friend. He uses a Windows 7 Home Premium PC 64-bit, with Intel Core2Duo & 3GB of RAM. He says that he is not able to do a good multi-tasking with his PC. He says that his PC slows down when there is a Video Editor & PowerPoint is simultaneously opened. Should he install Win7 32-bit instead of 64-bit?? Will it gives more ability to do multi-tasking? 4. I have a newish Toshiba Pro/P300 laptop that came with Vista but I, perhaps foolishly, had a 'genuine' copy of Windows 7 Home put on it. It worked fine for 2 years then it started crashing for the past month(to save the disk/data supposedly) daily but just recently it finally shut completely and gave the message below. I have attempted EVERYTHING to get into safe mode(cannot!) to get to the 'repair' window(cannot!). Tried F2, F8, F12 but it always comes back to this message and status code. I can get into Set-up screen(BIOS) and have changed the thing to 'Compatability' but it made no difference. Not sure if I can do anything else in set-up. I do have the Toshiba Product Recovery DVD-ROM, Satellite Pro/P300, Microsoft Windows XP Prof - BUT I am desparate to try to get the data back(especially on the desktop) before I try the XP disk, which I understand WILL LIKELY delete ALL data! If it in fact even works! Is this correct? Is there a 'repair' function in the recovery disk which will save my data? What can I try to recover the data? Should I get someone to make cd boot disk or something? Keep in mind I am virtually pc illiterate!! Hope someone can help...soon! Windows Boot Manager Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software chance miht be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings and click "Next." 3. Click "repair your computer."# Status: 0xc000000f Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. View the thread
  5. Every time I my laptop installs the December updates, it'll restart but then it'll go to the start up screen and it is that "Windows was unable to start up" and then I get the choices to try start up normally (which never works) and then to Start up Windows repair, then I have to do a system restore. I have to do a System Restore almost every day and sometimes twice in one day. I really need help with this. I've never had this problem before. View this thread

  11. Windows 8 compatibility toolo indicates that my xp bios may not have NX or NX is not turned on (which I doubt). Install of win 8 will apparently try to turn it on NX..... if this does fail which I'm not optomistic then an upgrade from xp to win 7 wouldn't be bad, considering the support will be longer and another win 8 computer that I have will comunicate with the currnt xp better (skydrive sync)... Just don't know if the hassle in time and if it going to more than the $40 win 8 upgrade --- is worth it. Thanks for any insight and comments. View this thread

  13. Hi, Why do I have to enter the full name of an app in the search term of Apps Search in the start menu of Windows 8? For instance, I have installed "Tweetro". Search for "Twee" , "Tweet" or "Tweetr" results in 0 hits. Only "Tweetro" gives me the hit. Is there any way to configure this to report partial hits as well? Edit: I see from this blog post that he getsa hit on "Microsoft Word 2010" when searching for "Win". What? Why? And have they changed the functionality? I too have Word installed, but does not get a search hit on "win". I'm running Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation View the full article
  14. Hi. After a windows update, system asked to reboot the computer. After that reboot, it stuck at Windows 8 welcome screen, with the cursor keep spinning. I tried to reset my system, and same thing happened. How to solve this ?? View this thread
  15. I have Win 7 (pre-installed on alienware). I use Norton security suite. I have tried twice to download and install some windows updates, each time having to do a system restore to before the date. Each time attempted I have lost internet connectivity. My Wi-Fi notices my SSID, says it has full strength, but will not connect. I am curious if I should just not install these updates and call it a day? Edit: The problem updates are: KB2753842 KB2574819 KB2592687 KB2709981 View this thread

  18. When I receive a video as an attachment to an e-mail, my Windows Media Player will open the attachment but will not play it. However, if I go directly to the appropriate website (e.g. Youtube), the Windows Media Player will play the same video that it would not play from my e-mail. How do I get it to play directly from the e-mail? View this thread

  21. I understand the &quotWelcome Screen&quot on win 7 pro is the user name in the center of the screen with a place to put the password and &quotswitch user&quot underneath it. I understand that the &quotLogon Screen&quot has Icons for each user on the screen plus an icon for &quotother user&quot. I have a domain and some of my win 7 pro 32-bit machines after control/alt/delete go the the &quotWelcome Screen&quot so all I have to do is type in the password and hit enter. I have the same version of win 7 pro 32-bit on other machines and after control/alt/delete they first go to the &quotLogon Screen&quot where I have to manually select a user, hit enter, and then I come to the &quotwelcome screen&quot where I can put the password in. Since some of my machines bypass the &quotLogon Screen&quot, I know there is a way to get all of my machines to go to the &quotwelcome screen&quot directly after control/alt/delete instead of going to the &quotLogon Screen&quot. I have tried lots of fixes, but none have worked. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if I can't bypass the &quotLogon Screen&quot, is there a way to select the user I want with the keyboard instead of the mouse? View the full article
  22. I would like to have my desktop auto-start to perform backups while I am away from the unit, and not interfere with my operations while I am at the PC. I have the time set fine, but can't get around having to click the avatar in order to begin the process. The hidden Administrator profile has been disabled in the computer manager. What can I do to get the unit to function as I want? Thanks, Jake View the thread
