Anybody else experiencing that your grouped layout of the tiles on the Start Screen messes up from time to time? I've posted on this before - but always receive the answer that Microsoft can not reproduce this issue. But it can happen ocasionally. May be weeks in between - usually after some event. I.e. if your machine crashed, if you installed a new program on another machine where that user is also using his start screen, ?, ?, ? ... numerous symptoms ... So anybody else seen some of the tiles go the right - where you have to arrange again? (if so, its probably a bug - and should be fixed) ... or anybody have an idea then, why I may be the only one experiencing that from time to time (I have a hard time believing that ... Keeps asking me to download updates KB2729450 despite that it shows on update history that it succeded green mark it shows the same for the day before as well. same program Source for the first one was microsoft update second was other source using ie 8 Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2729450 Any help appreciated the fix does not work as well get an error message. I cloned my C: Drive but then re-formatted the drive as it never did what I required. Now when I boot up I have to choose XP or the Clone. As XP is the default I need do nothing as it continues to boot up anyway. What I would like is for this new choice option to stop every time I boot up. My system is XP Pro service pack . I tried in msconfig to delete the rogue drive but there was no facility to do so. Can anyone help or advise please. View this thread

Windows version - WIndows Server 2008 R2 Standard Automatic Updates - On I am facing two problems with my windows server 2008 R2 installation. 1- windows update error 2-dcpromo error 1-There is this windows server service pack update available but whenever i try to update i reciev the following error Installation was not successful An unknown error has occurred When clicked on details Error code: 0x800f0818 is displayed when going online to resolve it says Run System readiness Tool version 947821 downloaded and installed but wont help the update seems to have stuck. what needs to be done please help. 2- when the command dcpromo is run on the system it check for the binaries and throws a error message Error - Failed to detect if Active Directory Domain Services binaries were installed. Since installing ms security update kb2753842 on dec 28,2012, windows 7 prompts me from boot manager, do i want to start up from windows 7? Also i have to always turn on my internet each time. Before the update, everything would load itself and work fine. I did a ms security essential sweep, which is the only anti-virus program i have and found nothing. So I ask around, and found many similar problems, but the the exact same problem. So i did a system restore prior to the ms update. And everythng worked fine. However, ms auto updated again once i shut down, so the problem came back. I tried calling ms for assist since this update has cause major problems everywhere. And they want to charge me $99 since my OS is out of warranty. So my only solution was to do a system restore again, and to stop ms auto update. But I'm concern, that this update maybe important. Title says it all. I've been experiencing this bizarre and quite frankly, frightening behavior several times now. My laptop randomly starts up in the middle of the night. The first time it happened it scared the living soul out of me (seriously) Checking the event log, it simply shows up as a normal boot. the system simply boots up, and stays on the lock screen, nothing else happens. When shutting it down, no attempts to install updates occur. So, why is this happening? I am finding it almost impossible to rely on the laptop having installed windows 8 pro and office 2013. It hangs repeatedly and occasionally get Blue screen with dpc_watchdog_violation and resets with notification to send error report to Microsoft. I have a Dell computer that has been relatively trouble free until lately. Just prior to Christmas I started experiencing multiple crashes per day, the majority with the message "Page Fault in Non Paged Area." I have looked at both the .dmp and the checksur.log file which contained the errors below. I am not able to check for system updates through Windows updates. I receive the following message: "Windows could not search for new updates." with code 80070246. I have run both Microsoft Fix-It and the Update Readiness tool. Both indicate that they are resolving problems. The SUR tool even indicated that it was addressing a problem associated with the code 80070246. Even after both of these activities, I still can't run windows updates. A Additionally, I cannot run SFC /scannnow as I receive "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." Finally, I stopped automatic updates, deleted the distribution file, and restarted automatic updates. All this did was delete the history. Did not affect the problem. I have been able to find numerous threads on these issues and have done my best to sort through all of them. Everything is in the title... Windows update seems to download the update without any problem, then starts the update, but then fails, repeatedly. windows "fix-it" tool claimed it resolved the problem, but the situation is unchanged, install stull fails. Can you help? Thanks View this thread

I cannot install these updates (all related .NET). I ALREADY installed .NET (sing the tool) and reinstalled it. Some updates could then be installed but not those ones. What do I do ? Any help would be appreciated. View this thread
