I find this frustrating and disappointing. My laptop was running fine and when I tried to shut down, I got these loads updates last night which lasted about half an hour and deemed to be important. When it restart and what do I get, I get an error message "The user profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded" error and I cannot login. What is the matter with Microsoft? Why is Microsoft offering faulty or detrimental updates?" I have no time for all these and apparently, my profile has been deleted,, damaged or changed (after searching the internet for solutions). Why is Microsoft update meddling with my profile? I have not fixed the problem yet and suggestions of entering into safe mode to create a temp profile to access, change or copy my original profile to fix this problem, etc. is just not acceptable and how am I going to trust any future Microsoft updates? I need a simpler and better solution. View this thread

Tried using Mr Fixit for update issues, but Netframework recent updates fail to install. Win XP Pro machine with all other updates. View this thread

I installed the last 10 windows 8 updates and it broke my DDE link between TOS and Excel 2007. I have since uninstalled these updates and my connection came back. Anyone else with this problem? View this thread

your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (computer name) is not responding that is the error message I am getting in windows 8 machine, which is trying to access the shared folder from windows 7 machine. Windows 7 machine can access the folders in the windows 8 machine but not the other way around. I have several versions of MYOB on my laptop. All others are working fine except Business Basics V1.. When I try to minimum the screen or open another program, It closes down with the following error. This started happening after I did a disc clean up, deleted alot of temp files and disable some problems on start up. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling MYOB BBaisc. Also tried downloading another GDIPlus.dll. I have also tried to restore but my computer does not have a restore point back fare enought before it happened. Definately no problem with my MYOB Account Right programs. I have an Acer Aspire one, running Xp fully Updated OS, I have been and IExplore user version 8.0.6001.18702 with a chrome plug in. Added Chrome and Foxfire as back up browsers... Have done dfrag and clean up Virus/firewall used is Zone Alarm free version.Active realtime scanner running. Used DirectX Diagnostic tool through all the steps, testing every option...no problems. Used most recent version of Microsoft Safety Scanner. No Malware or viruses found. The machine is connected wirelessly to a Brother printer and internet gateway. Often connected via USB to canon scanner, canoscan (LIDE), an external WD hard drive, where most data is stored, ms rollerball, Gigaware key board, several flashdrives, Speakers plugged into earphonr jack. Hard drive went silent while writting this, it tends to get noisy the more I do, at times...it went about a month since the last event of long term noise issues. I use the machine heavy....Facebook games, some in iE8, some in Foxfire, some in Chrome...I find more ready function in iE8 then the others...I keep the plugin to a minimon in all, and the are fast when the drive is quiet...the noise slows all operations down. During noise I cut down on YouTube and other online video...prefered player is Windows Media Player with Realplayer and Quicktime as back ups. I have a 'Deskmate' Charactor that runs most of time, program no longer supported, but it runs good, I have shut it down during noise events. Noise came back As I opened a file folder to make a rtf of report...saved and closed....noise stops..... I think machine's hard drive will die.....in how much time? Given it does, I would like to replace the hard drive and reinstall the OS, not sure how well this machine would work with the current version of Windows, One can find general specs on the Acer Aspire One, can a person who knows "8" well, maybe an MS person comment on wheather * can handle the specs of my AA One....I will continue to use the machine as long as I can....I do want to get a new graphics machine with all the bells an whisles, but would like to keep a usable machine working. I use Media Player for all music. Recently I downloaded a number of tunes but they didn't appear in my music library. After searching around I found that they all went into the Media Player's "OTHER MEDIA" library rather than the music library. I can play the music in other media, but can't figure out how to get Media Player to recognize that all the items are music so I can have them all in my music library. View this thread

There is nothing wrong w/ going from Desktop to the Start screen w/ its Tiles for some or all things OR going to WinQ for things OR pinning a bunch of stuff OR having icons all over the Desktop BUT, You might like this approach... It means not having to do any of the 3 things mentioned above. The Applications window sits on the Taskbar. Ever since upgrading to Windows 8 it takes a long time to establish a direct RDP connection to Windows Server 2003 or Server 2008. From Windows 7 it used to take about a second. With the Windows 8 RDP client it takes about a minute to connect to a server. Thanks in advance for any insights into this issue. View the full article

Hello, I have a problem with Speech Recognition. It's working fine listening to commands, and does as I say, however all it hears is commands. I've read somewhere that what it doesn't reconize as a command, is inserted as text. However, it takes every word I say as a command. If it doesn't reconize a command, all it says is: &quotWhat was that?&quot. Does anyone know how to fix this, or perhaps an alternative for Speech Recognition? Thank you in advance. After awhile (20 minutes or so) the screen becomes black. Mouse & keyboard do not functioning. Have to hold power button for about 10 seconds to power off the PC. Then with power on, the previous session came back, like after screen saver. View this thread

Windows Vista systems, Windows 8 server, roaming profiles, Outlook using POP3 Microsoft DPM. local copies of offline files are set to be encrypted. Because of past problems with multiple revisions of files group policy is set to synchronize on startup and shutdown. Users are complaining about long delays and slow performance during startup and shutdown times. I suspect that this is because of the synchronization. What is available to speed up the synchronization process or to monitor the total size and speed of the processes? View this thread

security essentials is scanning less items on my new pc than it was about 2 months ago. 500,000 compared to 650,000 originally. I ran defender offline and it scanned over 700,000 items. Any explanation regarding this please. thank you. View this thread
