Original Title: Can't access external HDD after upgrade from xp to win7 I have just upgraded from win xp to win7.I can't access my external hard drive .In "my computer" it shows the device,device managerlists it as a generic usb device.It says it is working properly but in the device details it cannot access any info about its volume.The error message is that is unavailable and it can't access D:. Hi there, I have Windows 7 installed on my Dell laptop. It came with W7 installed, and did not ship with any backup/installation disks. I have since reinstalled Windows 7 using a friends Dell Windows 7 DVD which he had shipped with a Dell PC. All went well and I was able to reinstall, get my drivers etc no problem, but as a result I no longer have my Dell backup partition. However I would now like to reinstall Windows again. I will be getting the DVD off my friend again and using it. However I would like to know some things. Can I create an ISO of this disk and burn it to my own blank DVD? so I won't have to ask him for the DVD if I decide I want to install again. If not, is there anyway I can get a copy of Windows 7 for my own use? I have my Windows 7 license key, and it is a genuine copy, from Dell. Thanks. View the thread

Hello, I am using Windows XP Professional. Recently I'm facing problem with booting my computer. It shows error message like below: a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to protect your computer ..................................... some messages ..................................... Technical information: STOP: 0*00000007B (...........some coded numbers..............) I have tried following things to fix the issue but no success :( Tried to start in safe mode Tried for last known good configuration Tried to boot with Windows XP CD for fresh installation Checked BIOS settings (boot order) what should now be done to care of this ? I have Microsoft Security Essentials and as far as i was concerend everything was fine, but whilst looking at my rescourse and performance monitor i noticed an error had come up: The Security Center has not recorded an anti-virus product stating there was no anti-virus programe found on my PC, is this normal ? if not, then is there a decent free anti-virus programe i can download temporaly that'll work alongside the MSE until i can purchase one ?. Ok, I am getting ready to do a test deployment of Windows 8 Enterprise for several users in my company. My only real question is how can I make sure that all the non LOB applications are removed. We don't want user using the Calendar app when we use Outlook and so forth. Is there a way to remove these apps permanently so we don't have show up at all. hi please help, my computer was infected with a fairly nasty trojan, (MEREDROP) i managed to delete it (and all its subsequent downloaded files) but it was very difficult. anyway ever since my windows firewall will not start. i get error code1075 and the msg (windows cannot start (ICS) internet connection sharing service). i've tried replacing registry files, i've tried system restore, i've tried changing permissions, i've tried turning it on manually, i've updated my BITS. ive also made sure that the dependant services are running. according to my component services list, they are ...Nothing works. will i have to format the HD to resolve this or is there a windows standalone Firewall available for download? On the MSE History page it shows several, all are &quotallowed&quot and one is quaranteened. Previously, whenever there were threats, there was a delete button to get rid of them, but not now. I bought &amp installed &quotSystem Suite&quot for a general tune-up (no real problems before install). Within 48 hours of installation, I received a horrible virus that nearly crashed everything. The only way I was able to &quotfix&quot the problem (I am not computer savvy) was to find a restore point the day before the &quotSystem Suite&quot was added. I can't install the latest virus definition download on 1/15/13. It's 400mb and I get error code: 8009610. The update that keps failing to install is: KB23101.38 (Definition 1.143.35.0 This is important as my MSE scan has found malicious software related to java on my computer. I updated java yesterday and thought this was the end of it, but this evening after an 8.5gb MSE malicious software update download, the next full scan found a few malicious items and now I can't install the latest update.
