I have just done a full xp reinstall after some freezing issues (trojan?) On trying to update xp, I am getting messages and error codes which prevent me getting on with the job. HiI have made some hardware changes in my pc and tried to activate windows. I was told to do the telephonic activation so I dialed the given nos. after providing all the numbers (Installation ID) I am receiving the same answer that there is a technical problem, try later. The system gets to 80/90% load and then reverts to the previous version. Not sure what the updates are that will not load. I've tried the fixes that are listed here and they have not helped. I'm not getting any error messages, just not loading updates. Where do find what updates that are trying to load? Any ideas on how to correct the loading problem? View this thread

Ive had to reinstall windows on my laptop (it came preinstalled on the laptop when bought) due to problems which are now fixed, but i get a message saying my windows is not genuine? and i get a black background, before i reinstalled windows i found the windows code that was used to install it before and used it to install windows again. i dont get why im having these problems with something ive already paid for. its not installing security updates either. its asking me to get a genuine code? but the codes only been used with this laptop so it should still work. i shouldnt have to buy a new code and im not going to either. PC was overloaded with thousands of photos. I cut and pasted them to a separate hard drive. Now, I tried to Copy and Paste back to the C drive on the PC. I can only see out-of-focus images, with a dialogue box saying "searching for missing file". Help ? M Conway View this thread

I have a laptop and a projector. The laptop is connected to the projector. How do I do the following? I would like to have 2 desktops in the laptop. (Let's call it desktop 1 and desktop 2). Only one desktop must be shown at a time in the laptop. I can easily switch between desktop 1 and 2 in the laptop. I am looking for official disc images of the Windows operating systems before Windows XP. I have contacted Microsoft, and they are unable to help me officially. They have redirected me to these forums, telling me that somebody here might still have any of the images. These images have been removed from Technet due to legal issues regarding Java. I am looking for images of the initial release, and the latest release, for each legacy operating system. If not too much trouble, a product key for each separate product would be nice as well. i have done the automatic troubleshooting that followed the error, says it fixed the problem then when i go to check for updates again i get this same error. my reasoning for wanting to check for an update is because my wifi keeps dropping every 5-10 minutes on this brand new dell laptop, and it has been recommended that i check the windows update. i know its not my wifi connection because i have other laptops here that never drop signal. anyways, i just want to know if theres a way to get around this error!
