I have Vista and office 2007 - I have just installed a new HP officejet 7500A wide format wireless printer. While I can print fine from word, I cannot print from either excel or adobe pdf files. I also cannot select my new printer as the default printer. I am not a technical person but would really appreciate some help from someone who can talk me through how to fix this. I have a problem with autoplay in vista. It keeps trying to recover the G drive (my usb attached samsung phone) that is no longer attached to the computer. Samsung apparently changed the phones so that they were not recognised via usb (although i could get to the content via the file manager) but the phone could not be ejected. I have tinkered with autoplay to try and stop this, plus downloaded samsung software that allows it to be seen as a drive, but autoplay keeps trying to recover it even after shutting down completely (including shutting down with phone attached). I have noticed that my computer keeps doing something when it gets into monitor off state. I see that the hard drive gets active almost constantly and a floppy drive gets its light on. It goes in pretty noticeable pattern, like forever. If I force it into Sleep, it will wake up and do the same. Any idea? Thanks View the full article

Using Windex XP on an old netbook with a very small screen (10"). Plugged in a 19" monitor. Start-up screen displays on both. Wallpaper displays on both. Can drag programs to larger monitor, but cannot set external monitor as primary so the task bar appears on it. Is there any way to do this? View this thread

We've tried everything we can think of to change the time in our computer. Every time we click on the little box in the lower right corner it says - "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item". Hello! I want to use the windows speech regoniztion, but when I open it, it says "windows speech recognition does not support the current language"... I am swedish, therefor I have my computer language on swedish, but apprently I need to change landuage for it to work. BUT, when I try to "update windows update online" it says that there is no optional or normal updates available. I bought a new computer It came with windows 8 I thought OK latest version will be upwardly compatable and have extra features It is not...it does not do basic playing of CDs It will not allow me to use software from my MP3 player to play / transfer CDs I have a lot of CD disks..bought at full price / royalties etc When I ask about this I am told that I must buy two upgrades to play a CD This is not what I expect I have no confidence in paying more money to waste after already wasting so much My computer is much much much reduced in what it can do and I bought it for This is not fair can Microsoft sort this out please View this thread

When I double click the install file I only get this error: Couldn't Install We're sorry, we can't continue because we weren't able to download a required file. Please make sure you're connected to the internet or connect to a different network, then try again. I'm running Windows 8 without any third party firewalls. I tried disabling Windows Firewall and trying the install again, but I'm not having any luck. I also checked Event Viewer for some sort of helpful error, but I got nothing. My OS is Windows XP Home with SP 3 since years and I use it on a laptop Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO, 2004 build.A day ago it suddenly stopped with a blue screen and endless autorestart.After I stopped that, on blue screen was the message : „STOP:0x0000001A (0x00041785, 0xc0c00000, 0x8207c290, 0x00000000).MEMORY MANAGEMENT.”The system works OK in Safe Mode.So I could perform some tests: -1 GB DDR 2 RAM tested with Memtest 86 in repeated 5 full passes it returned zero errors. -100 GB HDD checked with CHKDSK and found both C and D partitions healthy. - devices status could not been accurately checked in safe mode, but my HP 1300 All-in One Printer and any external USB memory became not detected. - A complete antivirus scan with Norton Antivirus 2012 auto updated did not revealed any threat. - I did use even the Hiren's Bootable CD to perform some tests but fond nothing wrong.Mention that I conducted a deep dust cleaning of my laptop as part of troubleshooting.After all, my issue still persist.Microsoft Service ceased to give any support for Windows XP.Could anyone help me out of this ?Gracefully thank you !Constantin. I have bought the promotion of Win8 for existing Win7 customers. Now after I have downloaded and installed I wanted to enter the product key. Unfortunately it tells me that the key is invalid since I have done a fresh install. I wonder how a commercial topic can dictate how I technically install my software. I had to do a fresh install in order to get rid of all waste I had on win7. is it please possible to check the win7 key and allow me in return to use the win8 key. I was even surprised because the purchase confirmation which I have through the email hereafter does not talk about an upgrade restricted key. can you please help me in finding a solution.
