I recently discovered that Windows Vista service pack 1 never installed properly on my computer (nobody who uses the device thought to let me know). Obviously I'm something like three years late in the game... I'm thinking of upgrading to Winows 7 and wondering if the upgrade wil install correctly considering there is something wrong with my version of Vista or if I first have to find a way to fix Vista before I can upgrade ? I opened up a bunch of clips with WLMM, had to edit a bunch of them ( making "projects") and then they became WLMP files, which I can't upload to Facebook...nor can I figure out how to change the extension. I had used Any Video Converter to change the extensions of the ones I didn't need to edit, but it won't even accept the WLMP file to begin with. I need to be able to post these to share with distant family, and the files are too big for email...help! Thanks View the thread

When searching the same 2 appear again as not downloaded! Why won't my pc see these 2 security updates as dowloaded accepted and successful? My anti-virus had been enabled and disabled trying this and makes no difference. Makes no sense! ALL past and current security updates are accepted with the exception of these 2! View this thread

It's strange! It's TWO updates specifically. (I haven't had any updates recently other than these two anyways) I'll show http://i.imgur.com/EfEk20T.png But then when I reboot (It shows them "Installing" when I Shut Down) They're still there! But my system recognizes them as "installed" but I get no errors. http://i.imgur.com/nhHRJaH.png (As you can see the installations are repeating) Also when i reboot they don't "Configure" like all of my other updates do. Windows 7 does not reconized my mp3 sandisk model m240 (sansa). With the cd for installation the message said it cannot install because it is missing windows xp service pack1. I tried with the installation of windows xp pack 2, but still it is not working. When I plug my mp3 it is stock in the mode "initialisation" and the sandisk does not appear in my computer has being plug. Thank you, Marguerite View this thread

In my company we have about 50 Windows 7 Pro X64 PCs. I use System Center Essentials 2007 to update them with patches. I have noticed in the last couple of months that my clients no longer reboot automatically after receiving updates. A couple of days after approving some updates, I will look at my clients in SCE and it shows that they all received the updates "Pending Reboot". And unless I ask my staff to manually reboot (or they already did for other reasons), clients could remain in this state for weeks. My servers reboot fine and are updated through SCE as well. But I don't understand why the PCs won't reboot. My PCs are all Dells from 0-5 years old, running Office 2010 x86 and a few other small apps. Pretty simple. Thanks. View this thread

Has anyone done some testing in regards to doing the full system image from Windows 7 File Recovery versus creating and setting a CustomRefresh.wim with the recimg tool? The Refresh seems easier to perform in the event I need to restore the image and it won't affect my user files. The file size is also smaller. One downside I see is that I don't automatically get versioned images like I do with the W7FR system image tool, but that doesn't bother me since I've never restored an image beyond the most recent one I've made. I have a newly deployed Dell Optilex 790 Small Form Factor running Windows XP Pro w/SP3. The user reports that whenever she locks the PC (CTRL+ALT+DEL and &quotLock this Computer&quot) all of her running applications close. I have never seen this before. Hi all, I am a first time question asker and learning computers as I go, hardly understand much tech speak, so please go easy on me? A few days ago my security essentials scan detected a seedabutor trojan and I am wondering how to tell if it is totally gone. I have been browsing around this forum and have followed advice given to others. I have deleted temporary files, deleted java cache, and completely uninstalled java. I have run security essentials in safe mode, downloaded and run tdsskiller and Microsoft Safety Scanner in safe mode, and all say that nothing has been detected. I am not feeling satisfied though. I am feeling a bit scared as I had a worm virus shut down my computer and hack my bank accounts about 5 years ago, and I do not want to go through that again! HOW can I be sure that this thing was successfully removed and that it's not just hiding? Thank you in advance for any help. View this thread
