I keep getting the error 8024402C when trying to check for windows updates. I've noticed that it hasn't updated since July last year. In August last year, the system I'm working on changed to peer to peer. I've tried restarting and changing the service to automatic which has not helped. I have also tried troubleshooting which window said it rectified two issues but it did not help me with any issues. It isn't locked by an Administrator, so I am not asked for any passwords. I m currnetly haivng 2 machines with Windows 7 and Windows 8 (pirated) installed . These machines are not at my work place where I have a better internet connection speed.Can I purchase &amp download the ISO on a Windows7 machine at my work place and use that downloaded ISO files to Upgrade Windows 8 on my howm PC.I have run the Upgrade Assistant on my home PC and also purhcased license for ONE machine but due to poor connectivity issue the download doesn't gets completed.Is it possible to download the ISO on my work pc and run it on my home machine.?OrWill I have to download the ISO on the same machine where I hav to install the Windows 8?Quick response will be very helpful for making decision to buy. Hi, Every now an then, my Windows 8 (host) remote desktop service crashes with event ID 7034 (source: Service Control Manager) ... something about the Cryptographic failed. Any idea how to fix this? Is there an hotfix? It's driving me mad! :( Thanks. Mojo View the full article

Buenas tengo un portatil Medion "de estos pequeños", que no tiene lector de CD. El echo es que lo formatearon en una tienda de reparaciones e instalaron windows xp pero no se como lo hicieron que borraron la particion donde venía el disco de arranque para reinstalar. La cuestión es que ahora no puedo formatearlo por mi mismo. Existe alguna forma de crear una partición con los discos de arranque del sistema y que este se arranque desde esa particion pra formatear el sistema operativo? I recently bought a laptop with Windows 8. However over the last few days I have noticed the space on my hard drive gradually reducing when I am not adding anything to the hard drive. I noticed today the hard drive space reduced by 1gb when I emptied the recycle bin (only deleted around 10mb of data). Is there any reason why this might be happening? View the full article

I noticed that Windows Update does not recognize windows updates. It only detects the optional update which is the Bing Bar. I checked the latest updates for Windows 8 in the Download Center then compared it to the ones I have installed in the Installed Updates. I noticed that there are some updates which are not installed. I did the troubleshoot things and said it fixed some errors then tried to find updates again. But still it didn't detect the missing updates. I think it is a hassle installing all of the missing updates manually and I have a hunch there is something wrong with the Windows Update. I tried the sfc /scannow and it did nothing. Also I ran the troubleshooter two times and it said the same thing always Potential Windows Update Database error detected 0x80070490 Fixed Windows Update components must be repaired Fixed But the error still persist. The search within Outlook works perfect, but I am used to also get Outlook results from the Windows Search under the "Start" menu: Office documents are beeing displayed but no Outlook Mails as it used to be under Outlook 2010. Sometimes my applications (Adobe reader, Windows Live Mail,...) refuse to open files encrypted with EFS (error messages like &quot...cannot open...seems to be corrupted...&quot). I now found out that it helps to perform a simple reboot to regain the required access. But when I decrypt such a file before, it's no more usable even after a reboot. Since I've repeatedly encountered this on different machines, I start to think that there may be a bug in EFS which might even lead to data destruction - something that I want to avoid of course. The question for me now is whether I missed something that I should have taken care of, or if I should stop using EFS completely (guess it's hard to find an alternative that works similarly without needing to preallocate drive space like Truecrypt requires it). Hi, I would just like to query regarding the error 012913 that customers are getting when they are trying to redeem the free upgrade from Office 2010 to Office 2013/Office 365 Home Premium Subscription. What would be the cause of the error message and how can we bypass it? One information that we got is to transfer the call to the Microsoft Store Team yet this is not a sure fix for the customer.
