I am trying to use Microsoft Updates but on my Windows 7 Professional but when I go into Updates it says service is not running and has the error codes 80010108, 80070422 which is just two of the error codes. I have tried the Fix It with Microsoft, it doesnt work. Can anyone help? View this thread

Looks like the Ethernet port on my Acer easystore H340 WHS has failed. The little box seems to boot up OK, and all the various lights do what they are supposed to do *except* for the network LED. I see that I can buy another H340 on eBay and also, there is a vendor who supplies refurbished H340's for $200. Can I just plop my 2 drives into another H340 box and expect it to work right away? Or is there something else I would have to do? BTW, I may first try using a USB ethernet adaptor - following the instructions at this page: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/06/22/guide-how-to-resolve-a-failed-lan-port-on-your-server/ Any other ideas? Just wondering if I download IE-10,an upgrade from my IE-9 I'm using now with Windows 7X64, will the upgrade load as just a browser, or does it also download the &quottiles&quot as I see on windows 8. Just curious as I don't care for the Tiles, and use Yahoo as my web page. View the thread

I am attempting to repair my neighbors laptop that was not able to get on the internet. What I found was that the OS had a 50 GB partition and everything was installed on the c: drive and it was totally out of space. I used Disk Manager to delete the d: partition and extend c: to include the entire drive. I cleaned everything up, uninstalled various toolbars and malware found in Add/Remove Software (Control Panel). Now, when I try to do any Windows updates or update any applications, the installation will fail claiming there is no disk space available. In the eventlog, I see MsiInstaller errors with an event id of 11711, "An error occurred while writing installation information to disk. Check to make sure enough disk space is available, and click Retry, or Cancel to end the install."I also get this error when trying to install updates to iTunes also. I was able to install MalwareBytes with no problems and install a new version of Firefox. I have run defrag, chkdsk, malware scans, anti-virus scans, windows update fix it utility and anything else I could think of. I also tried to create a new user thinking that maybe the user profile I was using may have been corrupt. This user profile had the same issue.I have searched the web for any information on this event id and found little to no information other than free up disk space.Any ideas? View this thread

The laptop is upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 pro version, everything about windows 8 is good except one thing, whenever the computer is rebooted, windows always turns off the wifi, I have to manually go to settings enable the wifi again. I installed Windows 8 Enterprise on my work laptop, created a local account and got all the drivers installed. I added my live account which is a gmail account, no problems adding it. The first time I tried to login, I got an error that I need to be connected to the internet or something. I was connected hardwired and had a valid connection on the local account. Couldn't get it to work. I ended up throwing an SSD into it and reinstalling windows. Now when I even try to add my live account or link it to my local account I get this error: Sign in with a Microsoft Account. We're sorry, but something went wrong. My hard drive crashed and i did a complete reinstall of Vista no problem here other than not paying attention I installed the OS on a 80 gig drive other than the new 320 gig that was intended. After the fresh install and all new updates I have 25 gigs free space. I would like to know if i can install any new programs on my drive d: rather than filling drive c: to capacity View this thread

As I said...I logged on to my computer and it says I am potentially unprotected. However, when I try to run the update it acts like it is searching and installing but then it it says I am still potentially unprotected and shows that virus and spyware definitions are out of date. IT says definitions were created 1/30/2013 at 2:57 AM. and Definitions last updated 3/2/2013 at 9:23 AM which is in the future??? Every time I turn on my laptop it tells me I have 'Updates' to download, I download and install them then restart and again I'm informed I have more to install and the process literally just goes on and on and on 24/7. When I view my 'Update history' I have hundreds shown for the last month alone and there are a lot which seem to be 'repeats' like: Update for Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Extended (KB2468871) and Update for Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client Profile (KB2600217) to name but two. When I viewed 'Uninstall an update' it shows only a few updates to uninstall and the date range. It is showing 17 updates for today (30/01/13) and then the next one is dated 24/01/13 and then another group of 20 for the 15/01/13. Since I have been constantly updating each and every day for the last couple of weeks it clearly shows I have a problem with the updating procedure and therefore I would welcome any suggestions to rectify this. I recently had to remove 'Norton 360' from my laptop as I started to get 'Blue Screen' messages every time it started to process it's updates and 'Safe Mode' indicated a conflict with the software so I have been using 'Microsoft Security Essentials' as an anti-virus agent etc, which shows my laptop as fully protected but I am unable to turn on Windows Defender since installing MSE?
