How do I Delete the quaranteened items from Microsoft security essentials View this thread

My computer no longer backs up to my external drive which is on a wifi network. The Backup Wizard can not "see" that drive, even though I am currently using it for another program. How do I get this ability back? The computer used to automatically back up to that drive every week. I have no idea for how long this has been going on. (I am a total non-geek.) View the thread

Korean IME has an English mode and a Korean mode within the IME. In every version prior to windows 8, the system would start in english mode (within the Korean IME it would show the icon A, and typing anywhere within Windows will type english characters) and pressing right alt would toggle between the Korean (한) and english (A) on the icon. Starting with Windows 8, the computer will start in Hangul mode (한) in the Korean IME area. My question is: is it possible to either add a feature to start Windows 8 in English (the 'A' icon in the Korean IME) instead of it starting in Korean mode (한)? Note: All versions of windows (98, XP, Vista, and 7) start in English mode (the 'A' in the Korean IME) by default. This definitely looks like a bug. Many emails contain a separate field for the email address to reply to, which may be different than the address that sends the mail. Unfortunately, the mail app doesn't honor this field and will always send replies to the sender's address. View the full article

Recently we ran/passed and submitted an HCK (WHQL) for one of our hardware products. The driver version for this release is 1.0.2.0. The hardware submission ID on sysdev.microsoft.com is 1558947. We passed the submission, and via sysdev, set the distribution/announcement date to be 01/29/2013 (yesterday). Everything went well, except now on http://catalog.update.microsoft.com when we search for the product associated with the above submission ID (ATTO ThunderLink SH 1068), it is listing the 'Last Updated' as being 07/31/2012 and the driver version is 2.0.2.0. Why is this different from what we entered for the actual submission? All submission information on sysdev shows the correct driver version of 1.0.2.0. View this thread

So my computer has the problem where it pages out because of service pack one (sp1) on windows 7. normally i would be able to delete it but i got a SSD and had to use a disc to re-install windows and the disc comes with sp1 on it. I am trying to use Microsoft Updates but on my Windows 7 Professional but when I go into Updates it says service is not running and has the error codes 80010108, 80070422 which is just two of the error codes. I have tried the Fix It with Microsoft, it doesnt work. Can anyone help? View this thread

Looks like the Ethernet port on my Acer easystore H340 WHS has failed. The little box seems to boot up OK, and all the various lights do what they are supposed to do *except* for the network LED. I see that I can buy another H340 on eBay and also, there is a vendor who supplies refurbished H340's for $200. Can I just plop my 2 drives into another H340 box and expect it to work right away? Or is there something else I would have to do? BTW, I may first try using a USB ethernet adaptor - following the instructions at this page: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/06/22/guide-how-to-resolve-a-failed-lan-port-on-your-server/ Any other ideas? I am attempting to repair my neighbors laptop that was not able to get on the internet. What I found was that the OS had a 50 GB partition and everything was installed on the c: drive and it was totally out of space. I used Disk Manager to delete the d: partition and extend c: to include the entire drive. I cleaned everything up, uninstalled various toolbars and malware found in Add/Remove Software (Control Panel). Now, when I try to do any Windows updates or update any applications, the installation will fail claiming there is no disk space available. In the eventlog, I see MsiInstaller errors with an event id of 11711, "An error occurred while writing installation information to disk. Check to make sure enough disk space is available, and click Retry, or Cancel to end the install."I also get this error when trying to install updates to iTunes also. I was able to install MalwareBytes with no problems and install a new version of Firefox. I have run defrag, chkdsk, malware scans, anti-virus scans, windows update fix it utility and anything else I could think of. I also tried to create a new user thinking that maybe the user profile I was using may have been corrupt. This user profile had the same issue.I have searched the web for any information on this event id and found little to no information other than free up disk space.Any ideas? View this thread
