My computer's HD crashed and I'm trying to install Vista on a new HD. I can't get past trying to install SP1. Windows Update states that it was successfully installed, but trying to install SP2, it states SP1 needs to be installed first. Help! View this thread

Win8 Pro system whereby Device Manager (DM) hangs after invoking a scan for new hardware. The scan never completes and I cannot close Device Manager except by force via Task Manager. This system was in-place upgraded from Win7-Win8 a couple of days ago and after the Win8 desktop first came up I checked Device Manager and was able to perform the scan. The missing/incorrect driver I had to deal with was for my wireless device. Windows Update did not install a driver for it when invoked via the drivers tab on the device object. After downloading the latest driver from Acer for this laptop I attempted to install it however, that didn't go so smooth. The installer hung at the very end and so nothing actually completed. I had to shut down/restart the system and now am in the state whereby the Device Manager now hangs too. Ideas? ...while I'm waiting for replies I'm going to try a System Restore point if any exists and see if I can get back to where at least the DM can scan for new hardware. As indicated I hace fixed on my screen a little window which name is " User Account Control " - Program name : " File-remover (Spybot - Search &amp Destroy) - File Origin : Hard drive on this computer.It has little box " Yes " and other " No ".Clicking on Yes it appears again and again, clicking on No, it doesn't disappear or close. I have it ours and ours, nevertheless I closed computer and started again, it appears there. How can I remove it. When I click on Windows Update the IE8 Windows Update page opens but it's frozen. Task Manager shows that two copies of the application are open but Not Responding. View this thread

Installed Windows 7 64 bit. program files show up as (x68 program),M.S. said it should show x64 for program files. Everything worked fine till M.S. Windows up date started updates for Explorer 9. When these updates started the sucurity system stopped working,after deleting and reinstalling it about 10 times I deleted the norton system from PC. The PC was working at about 90% till windows update put about 8 32 bit updates and then tried to download new 64 bit service pack update. Microsoft Security icon on menu bar is orange with explanation mark when mouse indicator over it says PC status potentially unprotected. When I open Microsoft Security it reads real time protection "on" and up to date. Status is unprotected. IT says "you haven't run a scan for a long time. Last scan was 02/01/13 6:34pm. Computer going very slow and freezing. Did quick scan twice in the past week and found trojan virus which I deleted. When i run trouble shooting it says no problems found. I was playing WoW on my windows 8 computer. The computer crashed and when it rebooted a screen flashed that said your computer has ran into a problem and needs to reboot. upon rebooting it comes up &quotPreparing Automatic Repair&quot. It sits there for a while and I guess it fails because it reboots and flashes the computer ran into a problem screen again and repeats. I have tried getting the PC into safe mode it doesnt come up. I do not have a windows 8 install DVD to boot to. I downloaded an upgrade from vista to windows 8 from microsoft to get windows 8 on my computer. Is there anything I can do to get this fixed? I have several BRD data disks. In Win7 I can copy off the disk's without issue. In Win8 when I copy I get errors that it can't copy a file(or a few). Win asks to try again or skip. I click skip and it repeatedly tries again(Taking about 5 mins each pop). Eventually(after about an hour) it will skip the file. Again, win7 does not have issues copying and the file is not corrupt as it does copy the same file(that is correct) that win8 craps out on. This makes it impossible to use the backups in win8 and I must go to win7. The burned disks may have quality issues but, again, win7 gets the job done just fine. View the full article

FTM 2012 worked on my computer using Windows Vista for half a day. Have tried reloading the program but always comes up with the message &quotNET.Framework 4.0 missing&quot. I noticed yesterday someone else had the same problem though with 64xbit (I have 32xbit) but I just cannot find this message now. I now it had a solution for those with 32xbit. The program worked perfectly on my laptop using Windows 7 but is rather difficult to imput lots of information due to its size. Thank you. View this thread

I have a Dell Dimension B110. with windows XP.. I let (even the young) kids use this pc. It has become practically worthless. When I bought the computer I got several cd's with it. As i was reading through the owners manual I found that the computer could be erased and it would be like it was when it showed up at my door. This would be great!! but as I proceeded to go through the steps the first thing to do was AS SOON AS THE COMPUTER STARTS ...1. see a blue bar, immediatly hit crtl .&amp f-11 .. as soon as i hit the ctrl &amp f11 it says CAN NOT RESTORE I have never tried to do this before and I did buy the computer new. I should be able to have what I paid for.. Is there sny way to get around this CAN NOT RESTORE problem.. that computer would make wonderful beginers computer for my cousin. and then we could comunicate through the computer and play cribbage/.. I had causing my m/c to go slow. Is this for real. He then wanted to load a file on my m/c to help him have access to improve stuff. I stopped him at that point, he gave me his mobile number to call him back on!! He took me though the system log and showed all the errors I had accumulated on my PC, seemed ok until he took me to www,windowsupport.us and then to click on &quotShow my PC&quot which results in a request to load a file &quotShowMyPC3105.exe&quot which I declined. First, I have many files I do not want to lose, and am not a computer expert. As in many other such problems shown here, I am getting the black screen and "Windows not genuine" - this after a year of use, using what I believe to be genuine windows 7 Pro sealed copy. I called Microsoft last night and the person (foreign) told me that the key I had was only good for a year! Is that even possible? Next, I want to fix this the easiest way possible, and will pay for new key if necessary. What I don't want to do s to start a days long process that causes my existing data to be lost .
