Hi everyone, i have just purchased a new computer with Windows 8 on it. I have been doing quite well over the weekend getting around it as previously I had XP. Today though I have come across something I really don't understand. On turning on my computer I received a message &quotWindows update&quot Your computer will restart in 2 days! Has anyone else come across this? Surely windows update can't leave you without a computer for 2 days! when I try to use the send to feature from my pictures or m desktop in the new windows 8 it gives me an error message: no email association. Overall, I'm loving Win 8 on my new touch screen laptop. There's definitely some learning and adjusting to do, but I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a non-touch screen device again. But when using the touch screen, I haven't found a good way to scroll through long pages in IE metro or long lists when navigating my music library in the stock metro music app. A scroll bar does appear on the right side of the screen once I start flicking the page/list up or down. But I can't seem to &quotgrab&quot the scroll bar to efficiently move far up and down the list. This grab functionality is present in many of the apps on my Android phone. Flick the screen to scroll and the scroll bar appears. Then you can 'grab' the scroll bar and quickly move up and down. If this functionality present and have I just not figured it out? my system has crashed and will not start windows 7. this all started after i did a windows update. now when i try and start all i get is a message that windows 7 cannot start. when i go through all computer tests they all result in a passed test response. when i try a restore my system i get a message that the restore did not complete successfully because there was an unspecified error during system restore (0x8000ffff). any suggestions? Will MS fix the Updates Failure Problem and File Explorer Crashing? Too many Windows 8 users are experiencing “windows update” failures. KB2770917 KB2779768 I have been searching for user fixes and the suggested fixes do not work. MS does not seem to be resolving the problem. Win 8 is going the way of Vista and Win 98 as failures due to the lack of help from MS. I believe the constant file explorer crash is fixed in one of the updates that cannot install. If MS is going to address this, I would like to know. Otherwise, I need to reinstall win 7 as a stable OS. View this thread

I bout a gateway laptop about a year ago and it came with windows 7 programmed on it. I forgot to register the serial number in the six months i was suppose to. i began receiving message that this version of windows may not be genuine. i get it at least twice its a bit annoying.
