I clicked the links, figured since I'm on OSX I would be safe from any exe that might try to install, and they did go to a microsoft.com domain so I think this is genuine. The first link goes to the Windows 10 mail update download page. It too was a valid download. The rest are links to how to setup the mail app. Scammers are getting smarter, less grammar mistakes, so it is odd Microsoft chose to do this instead of push it out in Windows update. It could be because of mobile devices. Doing it this way will allow them to push the update to all devices. After clicking the outlook.com link it does indeed seem that the reason they are doing this is because people with mobile devices can get the update.

I uninstalled flash a while ago. Most video content is now being served in ways that don't require flash. I have always thought of it as a security risk. In another couple years flash will be gone.

I upgraded the site to the newest version of xenforo. Everything seems well. If not let me know.

I have had items delivered to my house by mistake a few times. I knew about the law so I would take the package to Good Will and donate it. Never opened any of them. Years back I bought a boat. I previously had a boat so I didn't need any of the dock cushions, push back bars, life preservers, radar, marine radios or anything else a person buying a boat for the first time would need. When it was delivered to my dry dock location it was full of all theses accessories. About $5K worth of stuff. I called the dealer and told him thanks for all the extra gear. The radar system and marine radio was way better than what I had on my previous boat. They said they put it on my boat by mistake. Someone had bought a similar model. Long story short they took me to court and the judge ruled that since they delivered stuff I didn't need or want it should be considered a gift and I didn't have to pay. Turns out this was standard practice at the place I bought the boat and normally the customer just pays.

New Windows ransomware steals passwords before encrypting files

Looks like no end in site. I guess as long as people don't keep software up to date we will continue to see this. -
Goodbye WiFi, Hello LiFi, 100 Times Faster

Comcast in my area is offering 1gig up/down. A bit pricey at $399 a month, but, it's here none the less. I remember the 56K days very well. Hope we never have to go backwards. -
Grab Office 365 Personal from Newegg for just $14.99
AWS replied to allheart55 Cindy E's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
I will be able to answer that question once I get Windows 10 and Office 365 installed on my Mac Pro. I know the settings and folders didn't transfer over to the Mac when I installed it. The 2 versions are way different so I didn't expect it. Will be interesting to see if settings do once Windows 10 is installed.- 4 replies

Grab Office 365 Personal from Newegg for just $14.99
AWS replied to allheart55 Cindy E's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
I have a subscription. What I like about it is you can install it on up to 5 PC or Apples and 5 mobile devices. I have it installed on my new Mac Pro, laptop, iPad and iPhone. I also added my wife and she has it installed on her new iMac and laptop. For the price, I paid full price, because I didn't see this, it's well worth it. You get all new versions as they are released for as long as you keep the subscription active. In the long run it will save me plenty since I bought every new version released.- 4 replies

That is too weird. I'd order one but it would clash with all the blue lights I have from various stuff.

I noticed today when Firefox updated that it highlighted private browsing as an improved feature. Haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Why Everyone Should disable VSSAdmin.exe Now!
AWS replied to starbuck's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
I use it all the time at work. Might be time to think about disabling it. -
I have been using it for a while. I didn't do it for any other reason then I love the elegance of OSX. I still like Windows. I'm not going to turn into one of those zealots that hates everything except Apple.

My wife bought me a new Mac Pro. Xeon 3.7 16Gigs and such. It was delivered today. Once I post this I am going to take down my Windows box and put it in it's place. I will be running OSX exclusively from this day forward. I have been on OSX for a while with my Mac Mini and I've found myself booting Windows less and less. The only reason I haven't went OSX full time is a couple programs I run for work didn't have an OSX counter part. They just released a version for OSX so the last hurdle has been cleared. This will be my last post as a Windows user. I might fire up a VM from time to time when I get bored, but, for now it's so long Windows.

New Android adware hits thousands of apps, can't be removed
AWS replied to starbuck's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
I was an Android fan for a while. There was the debacle with privacy and text messages and I switched to an iPhone. I would never go back to Android now. -
Site software and styles all updated to the newest version of xenforo. This was a major point upgrade so if you find any bugs or if something doesn't seem right post in the suggestions forum and let me know.

That's a lot higher than I though it would be. Although it doesn't surprise me with the amount of virus maker tools out there now. -
