I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. I would go with a multi-core processor instead of 2 CPU's. I haven't built an AMD box in several years. My next build is going to be AMD. I think their multi-core processors are just a little behind Intel in performance side by side, but, the bang for the buck is huge over what Intel offers.

Servers are a different animal. Most boards come with built in graphics. Most dual CPU server boards are extended ATX and need a more expensive case that can fit the board. If you build single CPU server you can get the boards in mATX or uATX then any case can be used. I build all my servers. Usually do a new build once a year. If you've never built one you should. When it's done you'll have a workhorse that will run forever.

That is nice. Neat and clean wiring too.

Thousands report Comcast service outages nationwide
AWS replied to allheart55 Cindy E's topic in Tech Help and Discussions
My wife asked if we had any problems. I haven't seen any issues. All sites are online according to the monitoring service and I am able to browse the web as normal. -
I remember all of those N3. Good times for sure.

Caps are coming to residential service with Comcast. The writing is on the wall. They are already doing trials of caps in certain markets now. It's only a matter of time before they are put in place. I have Comcast Metro-E fiber. This site runs on it. It is a business product and has an SLA and no caps. Many people with Comcast residential are signing up for their business class service to keep away from caps. DSL Reports is loaded with threads about it in the Comcast forums on the site and it seems like every week there is a new news article about the upcoming caps.

Yahoo mail is working fine for me. Maybe a connection issue from your location.

I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so I sat down and had a cold beer. The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking. My wife walked by and asked me what I was doing, and I said 'nothing'. The reason I said 'nothing' instead of saying 'just thinking' is because she then would have asked 'about what?' At that point I would have had to explain that men are deep thinkers about various topics, which would lead to other questions. Finally I pondered an age old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the nuts? Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts, but how could they "know"? Well, after another beer, and some more heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with an answer to that question. Getting kicked in the nuts is more painful than having a baby, and even though I obviously couldn't really "know", here is the reason for my conclusion. A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child." On the other hand, you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the nuts." I rest my case. Time for another beer, and then maybe a nap in that hammock.

I actually installed Windows 10 on my Dell mini 9 when I gave it to my grandson. It worked very well. I installed Windows 10 over Windows 7 because I added a touchscreen to it years ago shortly after I got it and figured my grandson would be more inclined to using the touchscreen since he has an iPad.- 5 replies

I see number 3 happening. Timeline would be about right. Microsoft wants a 2 year major upgrade cycle. With their beta cycle for new OS being 1 year. That means the free upgrade offer kicks in for the new version being tested as the old offer expires.

I thought I seen that in the article, but, didn't want to post inaccurate info. Lawsuits like this can cost a lot of money to defend and I say that based on personal experience.

In the past if someone asked how to contribute to the site they always told them to donate to a charity they endorsed. I would guess they will probably give the surplus to the charity.
