Windows Update fails when installing KB2807986 on a 32 bit Windows XP SP3 machine. What are my options for solving this problem? View this thread

It can located in on the control panel dialog box, but it takes me to an HP Help &amp Support page which can't process the necessary Active X add ins. It will also attempt to open Windows update in Firefox. I copy and paste the URL into Internet Explorer 8. The response is that Internet Explorer 5 or grater must be used. I also can't locate Windows Update using the Run dialog box. Any suggestions will be appreciated. View this thread

A very big doubts! I can not install microsoft NET. Framework 3.5 on my windows 7 64 bit I think it's because the laptop has Already the NET. framework 4.0 and I REALLY need to install 3.5, cause then I need to open the file CTU (cas texture Unitool) this is for my sims 3 game. I'm trying to create some clothes with then, but I can not I've been searching all Web sites and all try to download and install, but no one Could help me until I can download but it's time to install the application not wheel or wheel so when the laptop warns that already have the 4.0 but I do not want it because I need the 3.5 .. so please if someone know how to help me, please answer me! When I shut my laptop down last night it installed updates. When I booted it back up this morning it went through the normal boot-up process allowing me to login, displayed the Windows logo, then went to a black screen with a window saying: Personalized Settings Setting up personalized settings for: Web Platform Customizations It appears to stay on this indefinitely (3+ hours so far). Moving the mouse over the 'Personalized Settings' window displays the circular 'wait' cursor (ust an arrow cursor on the black background), and I am able to move the window around I am also able to start Task Manager, and reboot, but that's it. Rebooting doesn't fix the problem, it just keeps hanging at this window every time I try rebooting. Anybody else experience this problem or have a solution to fix it? View this thread

I have a Dell Demension B110 that I have swapped out hard drive with new and reloaded with original boot disks. Now it will not recognized my broadband internet connection. I have gone into tools and internet options to set up internet but it still will not recognize it View this thread

a couple of days ago i noticed that my computer went from 515GB free of 582GB to 443GB free of 582GB. I didn't download or anything. then a couple of hours later i noticed that the computer had dropped to411GB free of 582GB. I still had not downloaded anything. About 6 hours later it dropped to 335GB free of 582GB and i still had not downloaded anything. I managed to get it back up to 375GB free of 582 by deleting a bunch of icone and google earth and a few other things but about 3 hours later it was at 311GB free of 582GB. I took Java completely off of my computer when all the hype came out about it on the news a couple of months or so ago. I figured that they had what ever the problems where fixed so I would try it again. the new version #7 update 17 I believe. I have not had it on the computer two days and Microsoft Security Essentials picked up a Java/Exploit problem. I realize that someone is exploiting Java to gain access to your computer or whatever, and it is not actually Java that is doing whatever is being done. When does this end? I recently downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials, after having used AVG paid subcription for several years, and not renewing it now. I apparently have the oyodomo virus, because when I open a new tab, another tab opens as well with oyodomo.com/ etc., etc. in the address bar. Does anyone know if Microsoft has a removal tool for this virus, or a safe website to remove it? Thanks. View this thread

I have a Windows SBS 2011 x64 server that is apparently not allowing any Windows 7 pcs update. The units were previously giving errors stating that updates were managed by the server, and could not be updated manually. Automatic updates are not working either. I had gone ahead, and went into the Group Policy Manager on the server, and found that the windows 7 machines were not added to the Update Services Client Computers Policy. After I added the units, they are still not updating automatically, but you are able to get updates from the update website. Each time the unit fails to run Windows update it gets either error code 80072efd or 8024800a. Whenever any of these units are taken out of the environment, they will update without issue. The message they are receiving is “The update is not applicable to your computer.” The FAQ states you can install this update even if the Hyper-v role is not installed. Should they be able to install this update or is the FAQ incorrect? On the 15th of March I logged off my computer and it began an install of part 1 of 5. It successfully completed the install of part 1 but went into a loop at part 2. I allowed it to run for 14 hours then, reluctantly forced a power down. I was pleasantly suprised when I was able to restart in Safe Mode and, performed a system restore to the 14th. I noticed the my free version of Avast antivirus had disappeared.....not disabled but no longer there. I reinstalled the Avast, completed my work for the day shut down and went into an install part 1 of 4 update (presumably the 4 parts from the previous day that failed to install) and immediately went into the same loop. This problem has persisted for the last 5 days with the same results, fixes, etc.. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue???? What is the protocol when an update install goes into a loop? This happened to me with Windows XP and rendered a laptop unusable after I forced a power down during an update install (the computer wouldn't even start in Safe Mode after that one). A different user logged to my computer. Now when I log on, it is syncing my offline files along with the other user. The files are located in different folders on the same server. Is there any way to stop syncing the other users files? View this thread
