  1. Hi, I have been using WHS 2011 remote access for a considerable amount of time without any problems (being able to access locally and externally without issue). Recently though and I am not exactly sure when this occurred I can no longer access the remote log on page via any method. I initially looked at a router fault as running the remote access wizard produces the 'router not working' message and the diagnostics claim that port 80 &amp 443 may be blocked (They are definitely not) and multiple routers possibly causing issues (There is only one BT Hub 3, that has not changed since it did work). Interestingly I now cannot access the service from within my network from any computer (using https://server name or ip address/remote) nor can I access the connector download URL (http://servername/connect) both produce web page cannot be displayed errors. I can however RDP into the server without issue and access other services running on the server (utorrent, TVersity &amp HomeDJ) both locally and via the web without issue. I have scoured the web for others experiencing the same or similar issue, I have tried every suggested solution without success. Some help would be greatly appreciated View this thread

  3. Just received scam phone call from someone stating that they were an Microsft technician and my computer was about to crash from a rampant virus. They had me verify my microsoft license ID by holding down the microsoft button and pressing rt. I forgot what I entered but they told me the correct ID that appeared. They then directed my to a site calledwww.ammyy.com and told me to click on the center button. I refused and asked for their number and they hung up. Did I already provide too much info? Would they be able to do anything with the info provided (ie confirmation of the microsoft license? Thanks. View this thread

  7. I am unable to update my Windows Vista (2008 HP dv6250 Pavillion Entertainment laptop). 8. Hello, We have an issue where users cannot join online meetings (created via outlook appointment). The users have office 2013 and lync desktop client 2013 running on Windows 8 pro, the problem is that after clicking the link inside the appointment, internet explorer briefly opens, shows a lync page and then throws an error message stating that lync has experienced an error and needs to be closed, and suggesting office repair. We have tried both normal and extended office repair to no avail. Re-installing lync client 2013 did not help either. When the user copies the hyperlink in his appointment, pastes it in internet explorer and hits "return", then lync is starting without problem and the meeting room is opened. The problem is persistent across multiple plattforms and different user accounts, with exchange and lync server on-premise as well as with office365 accounts. It even happens on two freshly installed Win8/office2013/lync2013 machines, and also with lync user accounts ending with "@microsoft.com", btw. ) Any input regarding possible solutions will be greatly appreciated. 9. Hi. I own a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate x64. It is a builder's pack and I have used this license for 2 other computers that I built bringing the total number of machines to 3 that it currently runs on.My question is this...I have done a clean install on my personal PC twice since the original build and now I can't reactivate Windows, what do I do?I do not have anything in the original documentation that came with the program that states a limit on how many times this key could be used to register Windows.Any help with this is greatly appreciated...Windows expires today if I can't find a way to activate it :( View this thread

Also when I right-click to change permissions ... it appears to Apply to all files and folders but after no effect has been taken. just for added effect ... my virus program does find Trojan viruses and quarantines files a few per day which I delete ... i am thinking this is just part of the environment ... thanks View this thread

View the thread
  16. I recently purchased a Fix-It program and I am suspicious they are purposefully corrupting my system to try to sell me the upgrade (or) are in cahoots with other deceivers in an adjacent office. How do I stop their causing problems? I have tried CTRL/ALT/DEL as soon as I see the desktop screen but they deny my access to it at that timee through the administrative right I allowed them. I don't want to uninstall their program as I paid good money for it and the fact they GUARANTEED I would have NO problems for a period of 1 year. These culprits are affiliated with Microsoft (or so they say). Needless to say I am pissed. Are there any honest folks that can help me here? If so I greatly thank you for your input. View the thread
  17. I have an acer aspire one net book that came with windows 7 home premium preloaded in it. But my hard drive crashed and is not connecting when i start the computer. It shows the message PXE M0F. After some research i found out that i need to replace the hard drive. But my warranty is over and so i cannot send it in. I went ahead and bought a new hard drive and decided to install it my self. But the problem is that i don't know how to install the os on the new hard drive. I was wondering if there is a way i can use the serial number under my laptop to activate windows. And if i can then where can i get an iso image to make a bootable flash drive? View the thread
  18. As an intro, I had a problem not being able to restore/create a database on a external HDD, SQL server complaining it does not support sectors with size 3072. After some digging I understood that this could be due to SQL server not being able to read bytes per sector, and indeed "fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo h:" reports "Bytes Per Physical Sector : &ltNot Supported&gt" I had this update installed so I removed it and that added back, with no success. Note that it took some struggle to do this, as after installing/removing it Windows got "stuck" on "updating, no not shutdown" message for like 10-15 minutes so I manually turned it off and back on. And eventually remove/install the plugin one more time as it was not visible as installed/removed. Any way, the questions: 1. should the update fix the fsutil for the external drive? 2. how can I check if files were updates as under http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982018 each file appears 4 times, which version is the "correct" one and under which folder? 19. We use SCCM 2007 to do OSD deployments. A matrix is in place and information from the old computer is part of that process so installation of the sofware is a part of the OSD deployment. We are having some issues with this. Office 2013 and the oct has been used to create a silent install of office 2013. SCCM is set to install whether a user is logged in or not and the allow as a task sequence is checked. The problem happens during the deployment. The files all download to the cache but the install never runs. The errors in the log indicate that a user cannot be found in wmi. If it is set to install even if the user is not logged in and it is silent why would it need a user? debra View this thread
