I use Office 2011 for MAC on a MacBook laptop and often cannot open Word, PowerPoint and Excel files created on a PC. Sometimes I can do a workaround to get the data to show using a style function - normal. But I cannot always see all the content. Anyone else have this problem? Could I have corrupted software? I have a lot of trouble with Windows Updates. Ran MS Fix It several times, and each time it says "Windows Update components must be repaired" and reports "fixed" . This apparently is wrong. If it has successfully fixed anything, why does it continue saying something needs to be repaired in subsequent runs? I'm running Windows XP SP3. View this thread

Hi everyone, I have installed office 2013 KMS onto one of our 2012 servers and verified it is installed correctly with cscript slmgr.vbs /dlv all . I have opened up the firewall for it and the server can be seen on the domain. Is it true that our KMShost will not begin issuing activations until 5 clients have contacted the KMShost to request activation? I have only installed two office 2013's and am using the volume license keys from: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219430.aspx , but they refuse to activate. Should i use our office standard license on these machines until i get 5? Or continue to deploy using the volume license and when i hit 5-6 machines, they should all active properly? The update installs and configures fine. After I install this update my Windows Defender says that Real Time Protection is off. I can not turn it back on unless I uninstall update KB2781197. I have no other Virus protection besides Malwarebytes and Norton Power Eraser. Both only run when I tell them to. View this thread

I bought windows 7, 32bit by mistake. Can i upgrade to windows 7, 64 bit if i install on a new clean drive, and if so, where can i download the files to do this and what is involved? Or are these files already located somewhere on my windows 32bit DVD? I will be installing windows 7 on a brand new (never been used) hard drive so i am not concerned with losing any data. But since my computer will have 8 gig's of RAM i would really like to be able to utilize all of the RAM. With 3rd party software companies releasing more and more software that uses more RAM, it is best to have an OS that is up to the standards of the current offering's. Thank you in advance. when i click on this icon it goes to windows security center and it shows that my virus protection is off. "microsoft security essentials reports that it is turned off. etc.." . on the mse screen it shows real-time protection : on my virus and spyware definitions are up to date. i just finished a quick scan saying " no threats were detected on your pc during this scan. security essentials is monitoring your pc and helping to protect it." why do i have this red icon if mse is on? After boot from DVD (the official one bought in a store) screen displays "Windows is loading files ...", but then unexpected things happen: Instead of the invitation to install Windows, the common Win loading bar appears first, then the blue sky screen with the bird and a black frame around, and no button or else to enter anything for getting the Windows 7 setup to start. There is a Win 7 32 bit installed now which is having an issue with the installer: Silverlight from the MS update page is unable to install, and iso files for installing win do produce the setup dialog, but when pressing that button the screen would display first "setup is copying temporary files ...", then "setup is starting ...", but then jump back to the initial Setup Dialog. I'm having an issue with the reporting of update KB2809289 on Server 2003 SP2, both 32 and 64 bit. The update installs just fine and shows in Add/Remove programs however, when you go back through to run more updates it shows as needing the update again, subsequently, any patch management software flags the update as not being installed. The behavior is the same on around 30 individual servers across multiple domains.It's notable to say that I do not have a later version of IE installed on any of these servers.This issue seems to be limited to 2003 terminal/Citrix servers at this point as it has been successful on other types of servers of the same os. Also, the same KB for 2008 R2 IE8 installs and registers as expected.I have tried numerous ways of getting this to register properly:I've downloaded the update and installed manually after wiping all traces of it from the registry and file system. I've done that same procedure booted into safe mode as well with the same results.I have uninstalled IE8 entirely along with all it's patches. Once removed verified all traces were gone from all locations in the registry and file system. Also cleared the update cache at C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution. Back through the install (installing IE8 from the exe download) with the same end results.Have tried using baseline security analyzer to check/correct the issue but it reports back the patch as missing too.The update always shows under add/remove programs after it's installed but continues to show as outstanding.Anyone else happen to be experiencing the same issue or have any thoughts?Thanks,Matt View this thread
