Before this problem, Windows was behaving oddly in various ways, so I restarted the PC, which seemed to fix things. The Windows Update window still showed 5 important and 2 optional updates to be done (as it had before the restart). I ran the Microsoft Security Essentials update through that program, not the Windows Update. After that, the 5 important updates and the other optional update had disappeared. Windows Update said it was "up to date...there are no updates available for your computer." When I checked the update history, it only showed the MSE update as done today (and it had had no time to run the others anyway). Closing the Windows Update window and rerunning it gets the same lack of reults. They do not show up as hidden updates either. The 5 important updates that disappeared were: Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2393802)Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2676562)Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2799494)Update for Windows Vista (KB2679255)Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista The optional one was: Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista, a different one it said was published 5/31/2011. I have had 1 update do a similar disappearing act previously, so today I did "copy details" for all of today's updates before updating MSE, which is how I know what disappeared. But how do I get them back on the Windows Update window so that I can do these 6 updates? And how do I prevent this problem in future? Thank you for any help you can give me. View this thread

Afternoon all,I have an Acer Travelmate 4720 and I have just tried to read my1GB from the laptop and there is nothing there at all.I have Windows XP Service pack 3,2002 version.I have tried to read the card thru 'my computer' but there is no recognition at all.What and how do I get a program to download to read this card.The reader works OK on the other laptop that I have got as they are Windows 7.Do I need to update to windows 7 for this to work.Thanks for any assistance View this thread

Windows 8 ran updates when I restarted my computer. it took forever, then when I logged in, my start screen only had 3 boxes all other links and apps were gone also it seemed that all files on my desktop and in my Documents were missing. I eventually figured out that I was logged on as a new user under Users/TEMP. I can use file explorer to navigate to my own user profile and then the my Documents files but don't seem to be able to log under my own user profile anymore, what happened and how can this be fixed? When I go to settings, users, the temp user does not show up. View this thread

I did not know where else to post this, so if it is in the wrong section, sorry. Whenever I right click, now my context menu looks like this: http://gyazo.com/1f8d086bf5c73137728f88124bad0911 . It doesn't normally look like this on Win. 7 . What would cause this to happen? Is there any way to fix this? View the thread

tried to download sp .after download,at first system wouldn't booterror code 0x0000c1f5. been trying to find a restore pointas one had never been set.finally used data filesto find restore point.computer deleted a bunch of files then installed files ,restarted ran for a bit,now we have above error code View this thread

Hello, I'm currently planning on building a new computer, but I have an orignal copy of Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. I want to avoid installing all of the updates that came before SP1. IS there a way I can obtain an SP1 .ISO file legally, so I don't have to deal with all of those updates? Also, can someone show me how I can install that .ISO to create a USB flash boot drive? One last question. I jumped from Windows XP to Windows 7. I installed my same copy of Windows 7 on my Mac via 'Bootcamp' and it installed and activated with no problem. Recently, I was told by a friend, that you need to buy a copy of Windows 7 for each computer you wish to install it on. IS this actually true? Thank you in advance. View the thread

Hello, I have been getting a message that Windows is installing update 1 of 1 each time I shut down my computer. I decided to try and manually install updates to my Windows 7 (64-bit) PC and have been repeatedly getting a failure message. The error codes I get are 80073712 and 9C57. The failed installs are Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (error 9C57) and Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2809289) (error 80073712). I have tried the Windows update troubleshooter as well as the Microsoft install troubleshooter. I tried to download a hotfix (KB947821) that was supposed to help with these issues, but it will not install either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my parents computer and they have no idea what to do. I am fairly computer savy, so I am willing ti try most anything to get this issue solved. Thanks! View this thread

I checked system files using sfc/scannow command, it found some of the dll files corrupted and it is also not found in the store place, how to fix opcservices.dll, TapiMigPlugin.dll ,SxsMigplugin.dll, docagent.dll, tcpmon.ini corrupted files please help , I have to switch on several times to start my computer , it gives blank screen after loading windows files. few times it gives desktop to work . remaining All the times balnk screen. However, my pc will now only operate insafe mode, which prevents me from uninstalling or installing updates. Can't even veiw update history! However when updates come back up SP1 is still there and it still says I'm running vista home premium without the SP1 being displayed in the windows edition when I right click on computer and check properties. Can someone please tell me what the heck is going on and how I can fix it. I have downloaded and installed all other updates including recommended and optional.
