Every time I run Windows update it says the .NET Framework 1.1 needs to install KB2742597 The process downloads this update and installs it. The menus says it was finished correctly. The next time I run Windows update it goes through the same motions again. .NET Frameworks version up through 4.0 are installed. I have tried over 11 fixes and nothing works. Some of the more interesting ones are: 1. Run Mr. Fixit which says it installed all updates for Windows correctly. But the next time I run update the same problem is still there. 2. Remove all .NET Framework versions including 1.1 and then reinstalling. All of them work except the one. 3. Run the cleanup utility. No good. The log file for this update which I found in the Software Distribution folder says that Framework 1.1 cannot find .Net Framework version 20a. I did not find this file anywhere in the entire Microsoft library. I found some web sites with Google that proclaimed to have this file. There should be an easy way to reduce the size of ppt files. Mine just keeps growing in ridiculous steps everytime i do anything to it. Now at 80mbbut NXpowerlite knocks it back to 2.5 mb. I have purchased Windows 7 Professional last year in August, early January this year the subscription was cancelled by Microsoft and the reason was that the software was illegal. Contacted the above company and a new Product Key had been issued to me, it worked till yesterday with the same problem. It appears that this A-top Software site is now closed but they are still advertising via other Company umbrella. I run Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavillion dv6000. The drive (Mitsubishi) itself is recognized, and even runs CDs with photos, but does not recognize data CDs such as program installation discs. I have done ALL the recommended corrections including "Microsoft's Fixit (it says there is a problem but can't fixit.) Original title: Cannot get online with new router. I am having a lot of trouble getting online using my laptop. My house mate has recently got a new EE Brightbox. It works perfectly fine with her laptop and mobile phone. Also works with my mobile phone. However, when i try to use my laptop it only gives me 'Local Access'. I have no problem connecting to the router, but it just won't let me go online. Have tried disconnecting/reconnecting the wireless connection on laptop, starting from scratch with wired connection to router, re-booting router, and re-setting router. None of these have worked. When I open my .pdf files that I have scanned and saved to my computer, I cannot read the document. All I see are grey pages where the words/pictures should be. When I open .pdf files from the Internet, most of the file shows, but not all. Some pictures are grey rectangles. I am running Windows 7 and have updated Adobe files to the most current version. It breaks Virtual PC Additions on Windows Server 2008 on system that does not support hardware virtualization.The guest becomes very slow and takes 100% CPU (behaves as the VM Additions wouldn't be installed). The workaround is to uninstall the KB2813170 from the guest OS. I want to find a good program that is, I guess, antivirus, anti-malware, and all of that stuff in one program (or two, if you know a good combo.) So really, just a total security program. My main focus is detection rate. To start off, I'm Running Windows XP. REQUIREMENTS: -Has to be free, and the free version must work well. -NOT avg. I don't like AVG. -Not bitDefender. I don't like that either. -Must work well with Ad-Aware (I have ad-aware installed in compatible mode) -BEST detection rate, that is most important -Real-time monitoring (this is not the most important issue for me) -I don't care much about resource use -Again, very good detection rate. I can't stress that enough -Finally, since it is a free version, I don't want it to nag to me to buy the paid version, but, again, it isn't the most important factor. while trying to download anything, i'll get an error that the download url has a problem. i also got an error 8024402c. i was able to fix that but then found out that bits was not running. when i tried to start it, i got a system error 5 acces denied. i was logged in as admin .. any ideas? About 5 seconds after i have my desktop showing I get the BSOD. I went to MSCONFIG and disabled everything with the same result. On the BSOD I get stop 0x00000050 and SRTSPL64.sys - address FFFFF8800B227082 base at FFFFF8800B200000, DateStamp 4a80e58a. Any ideas?I have not installed anything new. No recent updates. When I want to attach a pdf file to our accounting software Invoice Form, I click on the &quotFind Attachment&quot and it lets me browse my library for the specific file. I attach the file and go onto the next one. Once in awhile, after I attach the first file from the library, and then go to the next form to attach another file, it will show the same folder that I previously was in. Then I don't have to navigate through all the libraries to get to that particular folder again. This is a big time-saver when I have a lot of of forms that I attach a file to. Any idea why it does this and how I can keep it doing that ALL the time? View the thread
