Hi, I just purchased and installed Office 2013 Home and Student. But after installation, I can't find any way to launch the program. There is no shortcut in either the start screen or the desktop, and typing winword into the Run dialog doesn't work. The program shows up in Programs and Features, but like I said, I can't find anyway to launch it. I tried repairing it from Control Panel, but this doesn't help. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. In short, I'm stuck! Anybody have any ideas? View this thread

I have Win 7 Home Premium, whilst I was looking at update history, I saw many items that failed to update, No when I click on update history they all are lost. How do I get this log back?? (the log that described success or failure) I can easily get the list of installed updates but not the other one?? Please help View this thread

Hello there people of the forums. I work for a little IT firm which has been asked by one of our customers to install Office 2013 Home & Business on a number of computers for their company. The amount of installs is less than 15, so we've priced up and purchased a number of retail licences for each of the computers. In the past, when I have installed any Microsoft software in this way, I have simply had to insert the installation media (or download it) and activate each individual installation with the individual key. Not as fancy as volume licensing, but it did the job. Now when I've tried doing a similar thing with Office 2013, it requires an individual's login details to install office, and after that the installation is for ever listed on that user's microsoft account. That's fine if I'm installing Office for the Managing Director of the company (it's unlikely he's going to be leaving the business any time soon) but for the average computer user, I want to be able to install Office so it's not attached to any user's account. Have we bought the wrong licenses, and if that is the case, as a workaround can I set up all the licenses on one account and have them as a pool of licenses for the company? How would that affect online services like Skydrive etc.? On a side note, I have actually found that once I have activated one of these Home & Business keys, I'm then able to install it on any computer (and as many computers) as I like as long as I use the same key and log in. I keep reading that Office 2013 is for ever only able to be installed on one PC, but this doesn't seem to be the case. We've already bought 15 licenses, but it seems we could have gone down the (and obviously less honest) route of buying one license, activating against the boss, or against a generic business account, and using that to download office on to all of the business's computers. There are only 2 accounts within users, Me and Administrator, which require passwords to login during XP startup, I would like to know whether it is security enough for not allow anyone accessing my local HDDs? The Guest account has been disable, is there any other approach to access my HDD within XP? I am not concerning physical remove my HDD into other computer. I am only concerning security on my computer. Furthermore, how can I test whether the password for Administrator has been set or not? how can I login as administrator? Hi, Fired up my PC this morning and was prompted to install updates from windows update. Checked the list, there was 11 important updates available. I unchecked and hid the Nvidia-update as i want to do updates to my GPU's myself. Installed the remaining 10, completed and was prompted to restart my PC. Here the problems starts i am no longer able to boot into windows. It get's past the bios screen, shows the blue flag with the spinning circle below and then......nothing but a black screen and my screen goes into sleep mode. I have tried booting into safe mode in minimal mode by using a command prompt (bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal) from the repair option of my installation disc but it will not even boot into safe mode. I run without system restore enabled so that option is not valid for me. The system is now checking the disc for errors but it seems to hang there as well as it has been going for more than 2 hours now....... Any way i can revert the updates from outside windows? Any other suggestions that resetting from the install disc? Spec: Evga x58 Classified 3, Intel i7 950, 2x Geforce GTX 580 in SLI, 12gb Corsair Dominator GT DDR3, Corsair Force 3 SSD 128gb, Dell u2711 2560x1440. Win 8 Pro x64, all fully updated with latest drivers. PC was working flawlessly up to this Point. Dissapointed that "important updates" from Microsoft kills my working machine. View this thread

New HDD in an old Dell, install went smooth, however I am running into a problem with windows update. It says that everything is up to date, although I just installed windows and I know that it probably needs some new software drivers. Hi there, May I know why are there so many windows 8 updates? Will it ever stop updating every 2 days? And why do the updates take so long to complete? I do hope that it is because windows 8 is relatively new, therefore there are so many updates. And that there will be fewer updates in future. View this thread
