Hi All, Would anyone be able to help me diagnose my Server 2008 disruptive shutdowns please? This has been happening for the last month and occurs between 1 and 4 times a day! My server is a leased dedicated server, I have remote access (and KVM access when enabled). The provider (fasthosts) has recently swapped the chassis after memory diagnosis and disk tests seemed to pass ok. Initially the server was NOT providing ANY minidump - so I had nothing to work with. However I have just (yesterday) upgraded to SP2 and this morning the server crashed twice and provided a minidump on both occassions. When we upgrade from windows 2003 to windows 2008 server, from the clinet computers ( windows 7, xp etc) zebra barcode printer is not prining the barcode fonts. Barcode printer is connection in the client pcs, and locally its working fine. When we connect to the server by terminal connection and give print from application software / crystal report. The redirected printer is not printing the barcode font. We tried all the ways. Finally disabled the easy print driver from Group policy. Then its printing some barcode which is not readable by the scanners. Is there any solution for this. When the connection was through windows 2003 server it was working fine.

What are the steps of installing window 2008 server?

How do i configure so all my client computers install all windows updates using GPO? For an example if i have a normal user who gets info abt win7 sp1 is available in windows updates but when he tries to install it system wants administrator permissions etc etc. I dont use WSUS. Been playing around in computer configurations without any luck. I dont want to make my normal users domain admins to be able to install these updates. Any idea?

Our IT company has folded up, right when we were ready to buy new computers. Tomorrow, we were going to purchase a bunch of new computers. Because I have knowledge with Windows 7, I can easily install software etc. However, I have no training with 2008 r2 or servers. After I setup the computers and plug them into the network. Will they work and be able to see the network? Or does something need to be setup on the Server. Our current XP workstations, require us to login with a username and password, to be allowed access to the server. I suppose the simple answer would be to hire a new IT company. I am looking to buy a dell server PowerEdge T110 for my home office and also i want to make a server where i can install sql server and share point for my developmenet purpose and also in future i want to host my web site on this server. can anybody please help me what server should i pick? I am running a small network with Server 2008 Web R2 on the server and Windows 7 on the PCs. They are all connected to a Linksys router that is setup with dhcp enabled. When I view the network map on PCs or Server I can see everything that should be on the network. However, when I try to add a login within SQL Server 2008 Express on the server to allow PCs on the network to access the database the only thing that is available is the Server. I want to use Windows Authentication as the connection method to the Sql database. Any help would be much appreciated.

is it possible to have a trust between these two domains? domain 1: server01.domain.com domain 2: server01.domain.nl Both the name of the servers are server01. I have been running a Server 2008 domain name server for a while now with no problems at my house in a virtual environment in VMware. It is my only server which serves as my DC, AD, and DNS server. It has been great until recently. I am starting to have a DNS problem now. It's not getting outside to the internet, instead it is local only and says there may be a problem with my DNS configuration, which has never been changed. I have my preferred DNS server set as loopback 127.0.0.1 (since it is DNS). I'm not sure what is happening here. Does anyone have anything I should check or re-configure? DNS service is running. Hi all! I've just put Windows Server 2008 onto our home server, after using Windows Server 2003. Is there anyway to make a Scheduled Task interact with the desktop? At the moment I have a .bat file being run as the task then that .bat file is running the program, it's all running fine and doing it's job, I just want to be able to see the program itself - is there anyway to make the task interact with the desktop, so in effect showing the .bat window and the program it's starting? Or even somehow adding a line in the .bat file to tell it to "show" the program? Many thanks! Jump1e (Dan)

Hai to all, in my windows7--> Start button --> any object--> Swift+Right click i got one option called open to another user. BUt when am trying that option in Server 2008 it is not working.Could u please suggest for me anyone for this option.This is option is available or not in server ? i am a new user to server 2008 and i want to know that my companies network administrator deploied policies on my machine after joining my vista machine to server 2008 domain. so i am facing lot of problems after it i want to remove my policies which administrator has deployed or i want to work hiddenly in the presence on my network so that my administrator will not see my activities or i will not face any restriction from policies. any help

Hello I am a student studying for my 70-640 exam. These forums look very nice. On my Host PC, I have Oracle Virtual Box running two virtual 2008 servers and 1 virtual XP client, with another real XP client laptop. Instead of changing my default domain policy, I would like to back it up into a starter GPO from which I can build a new GPO based on my default domain policy. I am not exactly sure how to go about doing this and would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
