Hello all, I will start off by saying that I am very new to this and I've kind of hit a roadblock early on. I've set up my home server and named it server1. I have 2 usernames so far and that is Administrator and Anthony, there is also the guest account which I currently have turned off. I added some files and set them to be accessible when logged in as anthony and that worked out great but I wanted to make sure they were not accessible from other accounts such as guest. So I temporarily turned on the guest account and signed in as guest and sure enough it wouldn't let me access them, yay. then I turned off the guest account, however, now whenever I go into my computer an…

Hello, First off, please excuse my complete inexperience in these matters. Everything I know, (not being that much) is self taught so there are large gaps. I own and collocate a dedicated server in the UK. Mainly I use the server for VOIP and a few game servers. Recently, the server has been under what is best described as a very small DOS attack. Its not quite blocking up the connection entirely, but it is causing intermittent lag spikes and occasionally complete loss of connection. With nothing running on the server at all, there is a constant .20-.30% network usage with spikes of up to 2.50% (this is on a 100Mbps connection) To find out what this mystery …

  20. Please help with windows Server 2008 lockup problems. I've got a new hp server running windows server 2008. This servers role is to write data from 12 or so plcs to a mssql 2008 database that it hosts. It also displays this data using its web server only 10 users or so. The load is very light. The problem I have occurs on regular intervals in the range of 7 to 8 days. MsSql will continue to log data but the web server will not work, nor can you log in when things go wrong. A login attempt at the machine or by remote desktop will just pause indefinitely after you supply a password. I can't find anything in the event viewer that would show where the error is coming from.…
