Its good to see that I was right all the time, even though everyone denied the truth some months ago making fun of me and calling ME a troll, I was the only one preaching the truth about vista. And you can see the truth unfold now. But WAIT. I have predicted far more that plain "vista is crap". You will see EVERYTHING I have said will come to pass. Copy pasting the info and dedicating it to Bill Yanair who keeps making fun of posting news on a newsgroup along with comments.. (what a loser). Yanair is the number 2 smoo in this newsgroup (after frank) and multiple troll. http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=42987 http://www.microsoft-watch.com/c…

As much as I dislike the posting of links, here's one from the "other side": http://apnews.myway.com//article/20080310/D8VAQTT00.html From the article: "Computers that run the Linux operating system instead of Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) (MSFT)'s Windows didn't attract enough attention from Wal-Mart customers, and the chain has stopped selling them in stores, a spokeswoman said Monday." and "Linux is in widespread use in server computers, but it hasn't made a dent in the desktop market. Surveys usually put its share of that market around 1 percent, far behind Windows and Apple Inc. (AAPL)'s OS X."

First of all, I am not some anti-Microsoft, Linux or Mac flag waving fan. I have tried Linux a few times and keep an eye on it's progress, MacOS has strong lure at this stage, since Apple is really proving to be the innovation leader and since Parallels allows it to run Windows XP as well as any PC So I have a fresh 32-Bit Vista machine (out of the box on Friday) and have installed only a few games on it.... A quick look at the running processes would confirm what you are saying, there are over 50 processes running in the background on startup, using 634-MB of RAM with only a web browser running, that's just ridiculous compared to what XP Pro was using and I g…

I had trouble getting the right drivers installed for my Viewsonic LCD. Essentially I ended up booting up the machine with no drivers and Windows installed a Default Monitor. After finally getting the correct drivers installed on my computer the correct drivers where installed but the computer still thinks there's an unknown monitor attached to the machine and keeps recreating the Default Monitor at start-up. How do I fix this false detection of an unknown monitor ?

Hello I am requesting an opinion, please. I have a Dell XPS 8300- 4 years of age- and a new Dell monitor S234OM. When I close a screen by xing out, the screen flickers, slightly. I brought it back to a store and got another, which is the same. it does the same thing. It is hard for me to be mobile as I am disabled and I did not know if I should try another brand or if my tower is the culprit. I wish I had another monitor to test it but am alone. My wife has a laptop very similar to this desktop. The store has a policy if I return it for another say HP I have to pay again for a new warranty. Do you have any suggestions that might help me? Thank you Petere

(from http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Entertainment/2007/12/30/recording_industry_ups_ante_for_downloads/1429/) "Recording industry ups ante for downloads Published: Dec. 30, 2007 at 3:29 PM SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. recording industry has intensified its fight against illicit downloading, saying it is illegal for someone to transfer music from a CD onto a computer. As part of the industry's ongoing legal effort against Jeffery Howell, a Scottsdale, Ariz., resident accused of sharing nearly 2,000 songs, industry officials said even legally owned discs should not be copied onto one's computer, The Washington Post reported Sunday. …

Well not entirely, but after reading this newsgroup for months, seeing perhaps thousands of posts, wanting to move to Vista BUT checking to see if M$ made a BETTER or WORSE operating system for my needs, CONCLUDED: F-O-R-G-E-T V-I-S-T-A! Even magazine review after review RANKS on Vista for more than one reason. And OVER AND OVER advise is to stick with XP (which I like for the most part). And OVER AND OVER people want Vista OFF their PC!! What to do? Downloaded Ubuntu 7.1 ISO. Ran fine on my notebook PC (IBM ThinkPad). In fact I was shocked at how easily everything went! It set itself up, even had immediate internet access. The package includes networkin…

I just received the August version of the Dell "Back to School" catalog, a big time of year for Dell BTW and not a mention of Linux. No where. Oh yea, for $89.00 you can get the "Student Pack-Microsoft Office Home" which includes: Word 2007 Excel 2007 OneNote 2007 PowerPoint 2007 So where is OpenOffice? Why does every page have "Dell Recommends Microsoft Vista" splattered on it? Students are typically cash short so wouldn't Linux be a better deal? At least until they got on campus and they noticed all the other students were using Windows or Mac.... Dell knows this and that is why Linux is a non contender during Dell's biggest sales time of t…

I was in Beijing, and I used my Windows PC there with a freeware firewall and freeware anti virus and freeware malware scanners. Recently a friend said nearly all American travelers were to be warned by the State Department that their laptops, if left in the hotel, were almost certainly compromised. How could I tell if a keylogger or other spyware was inserted onto my laptop by the Chinese?

My samsung sh-182f DVD writer has become horribly slow, records at 1X max, even with 16X disks. I cannot turn DMA on in the hardware manager. Even my floppy drive has DMA ........ Must be a way. 6 hours hacking and nothing so far. TIA Apparently there is a registry/system entry that does not allow DMA on a drive, but cannot find it. Neither on PC or on Google. The drive had DMA a month ago, last time I checked.
