  2. Windows IT Pro An often irreverent look at some of this week's other news, including Windows 7 malware infection rates on the rise but still statistically tiny, Microsoft's hypetastic purchase of Skype, US antitrust oversight of Microsoft ends quietly, Microsoft's online services hit by multi-day outage that is only partially explained, Xbox 360 destroys the competition in April, Microsoft and others fight App Store trademark in Europe too, there are no Microsoft Office competitors, and Limewire settles. ... Hello hello, I've installed my windows server 2008 (x64) and install all the prerequisites to use hyper-v. I was able to install all the VM i wanted and was able to add to the mmc on the client computer. My situation is this: I want to create VMs for the all users on the AD individually and associate the VM to them. I wonder if there is a way for the user to login on the client computer (which is on the domain) and start directly his/her session on his/her session. If its not possible, when they open their mmc that they only see their VM, not the others that are not associate to them. (I hope it makes sense :( ) Thank you for reading and trying to help me out

I have a program installed on the server that I want 6 client computers to be able to access. The program opens and runs on the server fine and I can access the server to install the program on the client computers and it appears to install fine without any errors but when I try to open the program I get the attached error message. The IT person we use has been through everything he can think of on the server (sharing folders, permissions, etc.) so that the folder should be available and I have also been through everything with the makers of the software and they can't get it to work either. I'm hoping that someone here recognizes what this error message and can direct me…

Microsoft, never one to shy away from blog posts touting how it is besting Google, has been quiet about the announcements Googlehas been making at the Google I/O developer conference this week. To fill the void, I thought I’d try my hand at a compare/contrast between the two rivals. View the full article

  16. Windows IT Pro At its annual Google I/O conference on Tuesday, Google announced plans for future versions of the Android mobile OS that will consolidate its currently separate smart phone and tablet systems. 17. Windows IT Pro As part of its annual developer-oriented Google I/O conference on Tuesday, Google announced new music and movie rental services for its Android mobile OS. I got a new box and installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on it. Then made it a domain controlller, assigned FSMo roles, DNS, DHCP roles and replicated AD from old DC that I want to eventually remove. After all this done I trid to restart the machine but it just hangs there at "shutdown" stage. Any hints?

Guys, I am getting a little confused with this (been on it for around 4 days now!). The environment is Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation on a Workgroup with 3 Printers connected via USB to the server. All users connect wirelessly and DHCP is handled by the Wireless Router. Firstly the reason for using a workgroup is because all staff laptops are running Windows 7 Home Premium which will not connect to a domain. Also the staff connect to customer networks when visiting them and therefore this avoids any 'incidents' whilst they are out of the office. The problem I am having is that a user will connect to the wireless network to find the shared printers greyed out, …

Either I am blind or something, but I can not see AppLocker as an option to configure for a group policy. Does the policy have to include a group that have user groups and not groups of computers? I have yet to upgrade the computers to Windows 7 Ult. I'll be doing that in the next week or so. Any ideas?
