Hey I am in here in hopes someone can help us with a 'wierd' issue we are having, and I think I have narrowed it down to something with the user on our 2008 server. Thanks for your help in advance and I will try to explain the issue in detail: A user who is logging onto our server is experiencing display issues when browsing the internet. 1) We have used IE, Firefox and Chrome to verify its not a browser issue, and even in those instance reset and checked all security and addons. 2) We have logged the user onto the server from 4 different office computers. And yet still we have the same result. Making me believe this could be a user logon setting or server bl…

Hi All, I am about to embark on a project to test Virtual applications in our environment. We have just put an order in for a spangly new HP DL380 Server with 2Tb of storage running 2008 R2 with 5 TS CALS. When I recieve the server I would like, as most techie's do, to set it up the instant it arrives - now I would really like to know the best way of doing this, so hopefully this is where you guys come in. The idea is to virtualise all in house apps develped in delphi, and all Office Apps used in house (to start with anyway!) We will have 5 test PC's varying between Windows XP and Windows 7, although the aim ultimately is to W7 all of our PC's Can you give …

Hello. I need to bind to my Active Directory server. I use JXplorer. I can log in using cn=Administrator,dc=...., but I can not login using cn=Myuser,dc=... User Myuser is member of DomainAdmins and has delegated all required permissions. I can log in with Myuser via ldp.exe on local server machine, but I can not do it remotely. Where is the problem? Are there any remote access permissions?

I tried to search for such an issue but have had no luck finding answers that cure the issue. We have an array of XP clients that cannot join the domain offered by the Server 2008 box. I can get Windows 7 to join the domain, but not any XP machines. I have tried manually setting the DNS server on the client machines to reflect the IP on the same subnet they get an IP from I can ping the domain from client machines and receive replies. I cannot figure out why they won't join the domain. It errors with cannot join domain.local. Network path not found. Many forums blame DNS, but if that were the case, why would the client be able to ping the server? Doesn't make …

I am using Outlook 2003 for everything EXCEPT email, which I am using Yahoo mail. I have the box unchecked for Outlook to be my default email provider. Scenario: I shut down my computer after using Outlook calendar and Yahoo email (and other things). The next day when I reboot, I get a popup from Yahoo stating that my default email has been changed to Outlook. I then restore it back to Yahoo email, and go about my work. Now, the scenario above is repeated. How can I stop Microsoft was taking control of my email and stop these popups?

I am trying to have some Windows 2008 servers out on the internet through http/https My existing 2003 servers are working fine and when connecting to the LAN they work fine too. However what I am finding is that when I am connecting from the internet i am not getting any response from the clients. I found that when looking at the network monitor and looking at the traffic from these clients I am getting things like this: 146 12:03:22 PM 9/17/2011 14.5766450 svchost.exe 203.173.163.38 WIN2K8-RDS TCP TCP:Flags=......S., SrcPort=34373, DstPort=MS WBT Server(3389), PayloadLen=0, Seq=1503735608, Ack=0, Win=5840 ( ) = 5840 {TCP:1, IPv4:8} 149 12:03:22 PM 9/17/201…

I have Windows Server 2008 x86 installed. I installed Active Directory with DNS, created a new forest and see AD and DNS are working sympatico after a few failures (always happens after it's first installed, not sure why). I installed DHCP Server and see client machines are able to receive an IP lease. However, once I install Routing Acesses so the client machines can access the Internet, DHCP no longer provides IP leases. There are no DHCP errors logged to ascertain the cause. If I install DNS without AD, install DHCP and Routing Access, all clients work flawlessly, even with DHCP Reservations created. I want to use Active Directory though and it should work, yet…

Hi all, I have had an extensive Google search for an answer but I can't seem to find the right documentation for help. Also, as per the rules I have searched the forum itself for an answer, but no luck. Box details: At work we have a Dell PowerEdge T110 (box details here) running Win Server 2008 with Hyper-V. Hard drive wise, it is sporting a mirrored RAID between 2 drives. The issue: My boss wanted to install a 1TB SATA drive to run separate from the RAID as extra storage for non mission critical data. I have since purchased and installed this hard drive into the T110. On boot, the POST shows that the HDD is plugged into the SATA0 port. However once in the UI …

Situation: We are working with a bank that has a primary corporate identity website, and each bank branch has their own mini-website residing within a folder of the primary website. For example, www.corporatesite.com/bankbranch1 for one bank branch and www.corporatesite.com/bankbranch2 for a different bank branch. Currently you must use the full path to get to the website of each bank branch. These bank however wish to have their own domain names that resolve only their mini-website. Meaning we want www.bankbranch1.com to resolve the same as www.corporatesite.com/bankbranch1/. What We Have Tried: We tried setting up IIS to point to the www.bankbranch1.com domai…

Hi, I am trying to deploy Windows 2008 R2 for my client, they have over 500 staff and want to use 1 server as their DC/DNS. As I understand it seems there is a limitation for Users on each 2008 servers, up to 500 per DC(Based on SID). I would like to ask, is that information right or I could add more than 500 users on one DC? I believe it would be good to add: 1: They do not have any other servers to be used 2: Virtualization might be a possibility ( Currently they consider, bare-metal server installation) Thanks for your responses beforehand

We would like to allow win7 users to search a win08 R2 file server's remote index. I get to a point where each user needs a unique library file on there machine in order to search remote network shares that have indexes. Anyone have experience doing this and how did you setup/deploy. This doesn't seem to scale very well. Also, would be nice to setup Win7 desktop search to include this in it's default search. I don't see an easy way to setup network shares/with index's into the default win7 search.

Hi :turned: This is my first post. Thanks for having me as part of this community and for all the help! I'd like to pose my problem and ask for some advice on how to proceed: I work for a small company, that has 2 teams of construction technicians. I do most of the IT for our company. I'm very good with basic networking, computer reformatting, building computers, and general day to day IT issues that we encounter. Basically, my company would like to set up a server, so that our 2 field teams and some of the bosses can share pictures, spreadsheets, and collaborate on field reports. This seems very basic but I don't know how to implement these objectives. When I w…
