  1. Hi, im getting multiple RDP onnection attempts, whether or not they are actual RDP connections i am not sure, but i would like, when im getting a conection other then from me, to kill it. Ive tried in CMD qwinsta /SERVER:SERVERNAME and then rwinsta /SERVER:SERVERNAME SESSIONID to kill it but it doesnt kill it. Im using microsoft network monitor to monitor traffic and i can see connection attempts scrolling (or active connections, SCARY! has a payoad of 0 but so does it when i am connected!) Hello, I am trying to create roaming profiles for my computers. All of the client computers are running windows 7 64bit. I have connected them to the domain and they will all log into the users that are created on the server, but when i change computers the new computer makes a temporary profile instead of using the profile that was already created. What I have done on the server: I set up a shared file on the C drive to hold all of the profiles information. It is given permissions to add and remove by authenticated users. I have then created users in the Active Directory Users and computers. I have placed the file path to the profiles folders in the profile …

Hello all, I am a new bie, not quite sure where to post. my office network is 172.16.10.1/255.255.255.0 The DC IP is 172.16.10.5 Now there is a router in the office (for the training room). The IP is 172.16.10.10 the subnet under the Router is 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 My question is Is it possible to add the Workstations of the new subnet (ie classroom) 192.168.1.0 to the DC? I mean can a Workstation (with an ip address 192.168.1.5) behind the router join the Domain? The DC and DNS are use the same ip and same server mechine. Regards, Jiali

Just going to throw out a somewhat strange question, just to satisfy my curiosity. Would it be possible to set up an AD domain on a DC running on Win 2k8 R2 in eveluation mode, then just before reaching 260 days, set up a second DC, make it master and demote the first one, essentially keeping an AD going forever in evaluation mode?

Hi I intend to use windows server 2008 as a domain controller. On domain controllers I usually use a static IP address. That was not a problem until now(before I used windows server 2003). When I set the static IP on new installation of windows server 2008 I lose network connectivity. Using diagnose / repair fixes the problem by enabling dhcp on the network adapter which is not what I want. Does anybody has any idea what is the problem and how to solve it? Any advice will be appreciated.

I am running windows server 2008 r2. I want to modify the password policy and some user rights policies however when I go to the default domain policy to edit in the security settings I get the error "Windows Can not open template file"? I am not sure what the issue is. I have tried the DCGPOFIX command and it did not work for me. Any help is appreciated.

  19. Hallo, I created an object in GPOs of a Windows 2008 R2 server, named "Testsomething". I set in this object a registry String in HKLM\Software\MyTest (only for testing) Now i add this object to my OU where my testuser is in. When I run gpupdate /force now with this user, the registry string is not changed/set how ever. So looked in the output from gpresult and there I can see, that my object is not used: "Abgelehnte (rejected) Gruppenrichtlinienobjekte": Name: Testsomething Verknpfungsstandort (location): mydomain.de/SpecialUsers Grund (reason) abgelehnt (rejected): Leer (empty) But when i put the Object directly in Domain Root (mydomain.de) than it works fin…

And map some disks, put some shortcuts to desktop and the most important. To put a schedule task on client computer. I manage all to do except schedule task. That doesn't work at all. Clients are windows 7 ent, and have only users rights, no one have admin rigts. I also have a problem, because all that was affecting server too. Hi everyone, I'd appreciate your advice on the following. I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 box running on my home network. I recently changed the network topology and thus changed the IP address of the Windows 2008 server network adapter in the adapter properties. I then neatly stored all my hardware in a cupboard out of sight. The problem is that I didn't check the remote access settings of the server before I stored it. Since I have changed the IP address I can't remote access it (I could before). I assume this is because the firewall has not been correctly configured to account for the IP address change. I am able to access the shared folders on the server so it i…

  23. I'm thinking of a Virtual Server for developing/hosting websites. The only significant application on it will be SQL Server Express. I see some very good offers around for entry level at 1Gb RAM will W2008 R2 perform reasonably well with that amount of RAM or would I be wasting my time?

New member and I hope I'm doing this in the right place. When I receive a message and it has a site for me to visit, when I click on the URL, it does not work. I can copy and paste the site and it will open up. I never had this problem before. I have not added or changed anything on my computer. I can forward that message to my Hotmail account, same computer, and it will open right up. I'm totally confused. All of this has started in the last week or two. I have Windows XP Pro and I use Outlook Express for my email. Comcast Xfinity is my home page. Any thoughts? Thanks
