Hi. Is there any way to add a computer to a domain from the domain server itself(adding a new object in Computers) in a way that when that computer will actually try to join the domain it will no longer ask for a user and password? I know the name, IP and MAC of the computer that will join. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hello All, We have requirement to modify Advanced Security Settings (Audit Settings for folders) on windows 2008. I am looking for a command which does this job. I know, using group policies I can do this in fact I had done this using group policies. However, I need to do this on number of servers which are not in domain. There are around 15 folders on which I need to enable Auditing manual editing folder advanced permissions is a cumbersome job. Hence, I am looking for a command line options. I have windows server 2008 running dhcp and it's scope is 192.168.10.1- 192.168.10.10, but I try to connect my desktop to the switch and it doesn't get the dhcp scope. It gives me 169.x.x.x and i try to search through google to find out how my workstation get dhcp scope on my server. Please help me because I stuck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i was trying to clone my harddrive with easeus todo backup, but i read on the internet that before i clone it , i should running sysprep on the computer that i whis to clone. i did running the sysprep with System Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE) and Generalize and when the server reboots i did clone the disk, but when i finally starts the server again, my fileserver and printerserver and the maps that the server shares was gone, what did happend ? and why can i get all my stuff back ? i did not make a backup off the system before i syspred it. so what to do ? i also had installed som programs on the server but is that gone also ?

Hi, I have 1 WLC(Cisco 4402) and it authenticate through my NPS(wireless NAS 802.x), recently I put another 1 WLC(Peplink), and I just added my Peplink IP address into the Radius Client, but it cannot work. Do NPS allow 2 Radius Client work with 1 network policy?

Hi there! I wish to password protect a shared folder so that everytime a user goes to access it, it asks for the credentials of a admin/privileged user. I've setup a restricted access group and added the users to it. But can't think of a way to get it to ask for a password each and every time. I can prevent access using permissions but there is no way to temporarily lift this using a password. Any Ideas? -Tom

I just migrated to server 2008. On my old 2003 server I use to be able to lock the computer with the current account. I could then unlock the computer with the same account or an administrator account. This would essential log off the locked account. I would then be free to log on with my account. The closest thing I can find is switch users, but there is some issues. 1) Anyone can switch users, where as in the 2003 version only administrators could do this. 2) Switching currently leaves the first account actively running services that need to activate under the new account I am switching too. Hi, My server is running 2008r2 and my client machines are running windows 7. Is there a group policy I can push down to prevent users to modify the desktop? What I would like to do is give read and execute permissions only to the desktop folder of the client machine.

Hi Here is my problem, I need some software (or ideally integrated function in WS2008) that would manage different versions of one file or folder, when users make changes to those files It should work this way - users connect to folder shared on server, where they create some documents (using offline files maybe) but problem is that when two or more users make changes to same file, you need to choose which file will remain, but when user doesnt know what to do (choose file that is already on server to remain, and rename his file and save it again) he can overwrite that file and delete someones all day work. Hi Gurus, I work for a company where the local network falls under additional responsibilities. I am not a guru on windows 2008 so i have a question. Before everyone had local admin rights on their computers but i have removed their rights, obviously i don't want everyone to install softwares and stuff. But the problem is our support team does alot of mobile support and need to plug-in new devices and that requires installing drivers etc. So they call me to enter the password every now and then and i am now fedup with it. I would appreciate any help anyone can provide me. I'm planning an upgrade from Small Business Server 2008 to server 2008 Standard R2. I've built the new server from scatch on a new box (not upgrading the existing box). My hope is to rebuild active directory and not migrate the entire AD (due to existing problems). I'm hoping to use Microsoft Active Directory Migration Tool 3.1 to migrate users, computers etc. I'm wondering if anyone has had success doing this. Hi, I have two Switches and both have internet Connection,so what i want is i wanna connect both of them,so that i can use 2 networks as one,but i want both internet connection for both switch Like i want users of Switch 1 to use its own internet connection and users of switch 2 to use its own internet connection Switch one is connected with WIndows server 2008(DHCP) Switch two is connected with a router I have no idea is it possible :) Thanks :)

Hello! I thank anyone taking the time to read my post and respond. I also thank the administrator for making this forum public and hosting it. My name is Jeremy and I am a doctor in a medical office. Although networking and computers are not my primary focus or occupation, I know enough to do most things that we need to do around the office with the network and computers.
