Hi, im trying to add a route between 2 subnets. I have a router on 192.168.2.1 and another router on 192.168.0.1 andam trying to reach the 0.1 subnet from the 2.1 I have added a static route in RRAS Destination: 192.168.0.0 MASK: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 0.0.0.0 I am still unable to reach 192.168.0.1 What am i doing wrong? I will be installing a new server which has a RAID controller with 4 1TB hard disks. I have thought about using at least 2 partitions, a C: logical drive for Windows Server 2008 and a D: logical drive for database and other applications like an email server. Hi, this is my very first time deploying and configuring AD. I am setting up a Domain Controller at home, for a very small network (testing and knowledge ) ) I have crated the domain and have a DNS zone for my domain I had the DNS zone prior to setting up the DC, it was just propogating DNS records, A, MX mail etc etc for my domain. So i went ahead and installed the DC role using dcpromo, all seemed to go well, however, i am unable to connect to the DC. hi, my first quesion. I have a DMZ to a server running 2008 Enterprise. When i add an exception in windows firewall for the Public profile (i also add it to all profiles) but the port doesnt open when doing a portscan externally. Secondly... Any idea if there is/what is the Group Policy to disable saving ALL passwords (VPN, Network Drives, RDP etc etc) Thanks!!

I have made a shared folder, one folder have 10 folders inside. My questions is I want all clients to restrict them to make a new folder inside and prompt them like these "You are not allowed to make a new folder". Can anyone help me please? Thanks. I'm using Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2.

Hi guys, I upgrated from win server 2k8 to win server 2k8 R2, and now can't play audio stream from internet ( youtube, skype, etc... ). I enabled audio services, so I can play local audio files. Prior to upgrade this all worked perfectly fine, so I guess it's something that need to be configured, but I can't find how. Please, help me out. Thanks, Mike

Even though I have IPv6 unchecked in my one and only Local Area Connection on my server, I'm still getting this error. Googling didn't help much and a search on this board didn't yield anything specific enough to help me. I'm getting Event ID: 10020 "This computer has at least one dynamically assigned IPv6 address. For reliable DHCPv6 server operation, you should use only static IPv6 addresses." My windows XP user PC doesn't even have IPv6 shown on its local area connection so I doubt it's coming up as a result of that machine asking for one so I'm a bit confused on how to handle this. Hi guys, I have posted a attachment in this thread. System is connected via workgroup network in server 2003. But everytime the users in the network, when they try to connect the workgroup they are given the error and we were not able to connect... What could be the problem???

As all of you know, Windows Server 2008 (as any other kind of Windows OS) needs to be updated with fixes, patches, etc. This process often requires to reboot the server which means that access to it will be denied until it is up and running again. This is not good if the server runs a web site that is visited by users 24 hours a day (for example) because the site will be inaccessible during the time the server takes to restart. What can be done to ensure that a Windows Server 2008 will be always accessible and, at the same time, to perform the required updates ??? Respectfully, Jorge Maldonado

Hello members! I have a strange problem with windows 2008 R2 file server. My company has about 60 employees. We have a file server with defined access rights to file server folders. When I add an access permissions directly to folder (using Network File and Folder Sharing) for specific user with read / write permissions, everything works fine. But when I set up a group in AD, add this user to this group and add group access permissions to this folder, user cannot access the folder. I hope you understand my problem.

Hello, We have several Windows 95 computers that connect to a Windows 2003 DC. We have just implemented a Windows 2008 server (not a DC) as a file share server. The Windows 95 clients can see the files in fileshare (They have Modify access), but can only open TXT files. All other files, Excel, Word, JPG, etc, cannot be opened. It gives an error that the file cannot be found or is read only when we attempt to open them. We are unable to copy these file types as well with the same error of "cannot find file". Hi, First post and i am already throwing questions! lol its kind of very unorthodox question, however i am sure someone must have thought about this before. i am using win 2008 sp2 ent, with a terminal server, stand alone. (No AD) i use 2 NIC for to allow users to access our internal resources and external for internet., recent audit raised some very hard questions that i failed miserably! i have been asked to segregate users, as in management level users will have internet and internal resrouces access..but the lower lvl staff can only access internal servers only. ideal situtation would have been to setup another users and move profiles but no money…
