Hi folks, I am a developer and I have recently released my quiz "Ingenify" for the Windows 8 App Store. You can find it here: apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/app/ingenify-trivia-quiz/1100c31f-3c13-49b2-ab61-59d45c405b17 (English version - Windows 8 - all platforms) or just search for Ingenify in the App Store The German Android version, which was the version with which I started, has almost 30,000 downloads and an average rating of 4,6 out of 5 stars. Beside this, there are now also versions for Windows Phone and Windows 8 and they are available in German and in English. I hope some of you will enjoy the app. Most of the questions are challenging, because I tried …

So I have a windows tablet running windows 8. Very awesome I might add, but this is not an RT device but a full blown Intel device. But I do have a question....I have 2 users. One user seems to have a full keyboard that has the numbers going across the top as well as shifting to things like ()&%$, etc. The other user has to use a on-screen button on the keyboard to access the numbers and special characters. I'd like that full keyboard on all the users. Anyone have any idea how to configure that?

I'm working with Windows 8 x64 for a few days now and several times a day, the clock in the taskbar stops working completely. The system clock is running fine, see screenshot. Never had this problem with Windows 7 before. I can't really tell which event triggers this bug, it seems to just happen randomly. My system: Thinkpad T400, 8GB RAM, C2D P8700, Crucial M4 256GB. I'm trying to install Windows 2008 Enterprise. My system consists of 1 IDE drive and 5 SATA drives. I want to install the OS on the IDE drive because I have other uses for the SATA drives. Each time I start the install, the IDE drive isn't an option for install. All of the drives are listed during POST and in BIOS. So, i'm not sure what the problem could be.

  9. When you start writing Metro style apps you’ll quickly come across contracts, a new and powerful concept in Windows 8. Metro style apps use contracts to declare interactions they support with other apps and with Windows. You’ve probably already heard about some of them: search, share, etc. Using contracts, apps become better by working with the system or with each other when users install more apps that implement contracts. In this post I’ll walk you through activation, one of the main concepts to think about as you add contracts to your apps. The Windows activation platform is used to launch Metro Style apps and to notify them of the reason why a user launched them. T…

Hi, I'm not very into Windows Server Functionality.. so I have to ask if this behavior is normal or not. There is the thing. We have a Virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 with 32 GB of Ram 20 GB for SQL 12 GB for SO In the server. SQL Server 2008 Some DBF Tables (not larger than 500MB) We noticed after restar that SQL grows up till 20 GB.. this is ok we set this option in SQL After some time.. lets say une day. we see the SO is out of memory. In Task Manager we see "Free Memory" < 50MB and in cached Memory we see all the memory for the SO. 1 - The question is.. is this normal in Windows Server 2008 (and R2) ? I see a lot of people asking for this..…

To start I had the admin account and a user account. Now I find I can log onto the domain as both the administrator and the user account previously on the local computer. But when I type .\chris or .\administrator it won't let me log back onto the local computer. Can somebody explain this for me please?? Thanks

  17. Hello everyone. Let me start off by saying that this is my first time posting here and that I am VERY new to Windows Server 2008. I apologize if this topic has already been discussed, but I searched every where for it but was unable to find the thread if it does exit. I wound up as the administrator for Windows Server 2008 Terminal Server at work, and have run into a strange problem that I have been unable to solve. Here is the issue: I need to add a few URL's to the "Trusted Sites" zone of IE across all users. I found a setting in Group Policy called "Site to Zone Assignment List" where I assign certain sites to each zone, which I did. The thing is, it seems t…

I am developing an app in a Windows XP machine which modifies an XML file if certain conditions are met. It works fine in my development PC. Now, I installed such an app in a Windows Server 2008 machine and its behavior is different as follows: if the XML files does not exist then a new one is created, if the XML file already exists then it remains the same. I use the XmlTextWriter class to generate a new file (with the same name). I am sure this is an issue with the file permits but I am not an expert in Windows Server 2008 but a software developer. I will very much appreciate any help. Respectfully, Jorge Maldonado

i tried created a gpo that can block removable drive to every client that connect to domain. at first it works well, then i try to make it only affect to some users .. so i created a group with some user that won't be allowed to use removable disk on their pc. i put that group in security filtering for that gpo, and remove the 'authenticated users' that added by default. Then everything screw up, all the user now can use removable disk. i tried to put back everything like before, restarting client and server, put again 'authenthicated user' back, but still this policy has not effect anymore. please help how to fix this. thank you.

I bought a refurbished DELL PowerEdge 2950 and installed Windows Server 2008 Standard 64 bits. I am trying to update the video drivers so I downloaded them from "DELL Dirvers and Downloads". I run the executable that would make the update but I get a message saying that "The configuration will only work in Administrator mode". I am logging on as Administrator. I also tried right clicking the setup.exe and selected "Run as administrator". What is going on? Respectfully, Jorge Maldonado

I have always assigned letters (E:, F:, G:, etc) to volumes but I know that they can also be mounted to empty NTFS folders. I assume that one advantage about this last approach is to save letters and use them when necessary. Is there any disadvantage in mounting a volume to a NTFS folder instead of assignig a letter to it? Why should I or should I not use this approach? Respectfully, Jorge Maldonado
