The new XP SP2 Beta is now out. Apparently, its more like an OS refresh than a service pack. Only open to MSDN testers though :( http://www.infoworld.com/article/03/12/18/HNsp2_1.html

I recently got a Radeon 9500 Saphire card. Its a great card by itself, but it has a unique feature. Its crippled. In reality, it was made from a 9700 core. They crippled 4 of the pipelines to sell it as a cheaper card. People realized this and modified the driver, so that the extra 4 pipelines could be used. Check out this site for more details: http://www.ocfaq.com/softmod/index.php You MUST get a 9500 that has the "L" shaped memory, not the "I" memory. The L memory is the crippled 9700 and is 256 bit, the I is 128 bit and is NOT a crippled 9700. You can softmod it as well, but it only turns in to a 9500 Pro. The 9700 NP 256-bit can turn into a full 9700…

Heres a little trick I learned. Take your CPU or whatever that has some thermal grease or thermal pad stuck on it. Put it in a plastic zip lock bag, and remove as much air as possible. Put that inside another bag, and remove its air as well. This prevents much condensation from freezing on the chip/card. Let it sit overnight. The next day, pop it out of the freezer and chip off the thermal grease/pad. It comes off very easily. I've heard that solvents such as battery fluid and oven cleaner work well, but I wouldnt want that too close to my electronics, personally ;)

Hello :) For some time I have been thinking now about changing the moterboard in my computer. My reason for that is my new video card supports AGP8x and my current motherboard doesn't support AGP8x. Also the one I was looking at supports up to 4GB (or 2, I don't quite remeber :)), and my current one only up to 1GB. Well, the problem is how to intall that monster. I dug up my old computer and started experimenting. I'm not sure how to take off the processor, rest looks easy enough. Does anybody know of any resources that I couild look up about installation of a motherboard? I tried searching, but couldn't find anything that would help me, or in other case im not very good…
