Hi I established a new authoritative time server on my network - it is synching with an external source properly Example Previous time server/PDC - DC1 DC2 gets promoted to PDS/authoritative time server DC3 is still looking to DC1 for time even after changing the Windows time service config on the previous PDC emulator Event ID 35 The time service is now synchronizing the system time with the time source dc1.abc.com (ntp.d|192.168.1.37:123->192.168.1.7:123). Any ideas?

Hi,all. My previous installed CPU is AMD XP 2000 and the motherboard is the corresponding motherboard, I have backuped my customerized images for the system and installed application software previously. Now I changed the hardware, CPU as INTEL CORE E420, and motherboard as 945GCT, Can I restore the backuped images based on that platform (the harddisk is not changed)? If I can , what can I do for it? And what are the steps? I really don't want to re-install the windowsXP , the updates and all the application software any more.

OK...here's the deal. I have an old Pentium III/Windows XP Home Edition comp that I have replaced with a newer Dual core/Vista comp. My girlfriend asked me to set up the old comp for her to play games on. The problem is that when I boot-up and it gets to the welcome screen, I can't remember the username and password that I used to use. Its been over a year since I used this old comp. I tried rebooting in safe-mode and entering "administration" in to the username box, but before and/or sometimes after I click on "ok", the comp reboots automatically and it won't stay in safe mode. What gives? I have tried every solution that I can find listed within this foru…

    1. Each time I turn on my Vista running computer, a lot of pop-up windows - from both the status line og desktop - keep telling me of Vista incompatible programs or drivers. It's sometimes difficult to close them all and they just pop-up disturbing the 'normal' work. Is it any way to turn them off ? 2. A few days ago I could not submit a web page in Vistas IE7. A dialog box with a short message: 'Media error' or something like this. I added the site to the trusted sites, set media protected to off for the trusted sites but did not help. I had to start the whole process on my XP computer with IE7 and everything worked well. How can I …

I have tried to run 'Chkdsk' on the Win7 partition. At boot up and after the Windows logo I get a black screen with the message to the effect that Chkdsk has been scheduled and beneath that another saying 'Chkdsk' has been cancelled. The bootup pauses at this screen for about 10 sec and the bootup continues, that is 'Chkdsk' does not run. There are no means to select whether to run or cancel 'Chkdsk' during the bootup. How do I run 'Chdsk' or do I have a fault, if so how to correct the fault?

hey all. I am having trouble with logging off the user names on my desktop. This all started last week when I upgraded to Internet Explorer 7. What happens is that I go to Start, Log Off, and then hit Log off. But the computer doesn't do anything. I took it to my local computer repair shop and they told me it was fixed. When it came back tonight, I was able to log off from the start menu only once. In order for me to log off, I have to go through the Task Manager. What is wrong? My computer is 7 years old and running Windows XP Professional SP2. Please help. -- -astrodog19

I am learning how some data files that Vista Business isn't sure of are "virtualized" so they can't do harm. My question is how does Vista determine which application's data files are questionable and which are not? Example. An email (Vista Windows Mail) had two attachments. One was a PDF file, the other a Word document. I don't know the version of the authoring software. I clicked the Attachments paperclip and opened the PDF file as I always have using Adobe Reader 8 (the latest). All is good. I clicked and tried to open the Word DOC file using Word 2000 (from Office 2000) and received a "file not found" and a long link into Internet Files. I…

In Vista Ultimate 64-bits any 32-bit application that tries to access the Internet terminates unexpectedly, for example Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird or Internet Explorer 32 bits (message: APPCRASCH... module StackHash_8d13...). Internet 64-bit applications work fine, for example Internet Explorer 64-bit version or Windows Update... So, I cannot receive or send e-mails. Maybe the problem began when after updating Windows. I solved the first time this problem restoring my system to a previous configuration, but it has happened now again. Now restoring the system to a previous configuration does not solve the problem. I have also reinstalled Windows with…

  22. Windows 10’s cumulative updates have ballooned in size, and a similar bloat will also affect the Windows 7 updates that Microsoft revamped this month. According to data published last month by LANDesk and refreshed by Computerworld with October’s numbers, Windows 10 cumulative updates for the three versions of the new OS have surged in size. Updates for Windows 10 version 1507—the debut that launched in July 2015—have grown 153% (for the 32-bit edition) and 181% (64-bit), from 184MB and 368MB to 466MB and 1,034MB (or over a gigabyte), respectively, in just over a year. Those for version 1511—Windows 10’s first “feature update,” issued in November 2015—exploded …

I recently installed an inexpensive Belkin router to establish a wirelless connection in my home. It seems to work perfectly however, since then, whenever I access Windows Mail to read Newsgroups, a "Dial-up Connection" window pops up, despite the fact I already have a DSL connection to the Internet, and despite that the Newsgroups and sites in Microsoft Communities show updated messages. It takes at least 3 clicks of Cancel or the upper-right corner X to close the Dial-up window. Any way to get Windows Mail to recognize the DSL connection and stop the pop-up Dial-up window?

Hi, I have a IBM T60p and recently installed VISTA enterprise. When I connect the laptop to an external beamer, it all works fine and properly detects the device and adjusts the resolution but after around 10min of operation (using powerpoint) it just changed the resolution to something else (lowers the resolution, so that only around 70% of the slide was visible) without me having done something. As this obvioulsy is a horror scenario during a presentation in front of 100people that I'll have in a few days, ....what can I do to make sure something like this does not happen again? I would be very gratefull to any help! Mirko
