Hi Everyone! I bought a MP3/USB player/key a few weeks back and everything worked smoothly... drivers installations, file upload/download, etc. for a while. And then, a week ago, it wouldn't connect to my PC anymore! I would plug the key into my computer and, as usual, WinXP reads it as a USB Mass Storage Device. I can then open the drive and edit/delete files. However, a few seconds after conencting, the floppy drive would scan for a floppy disk, and then the USB key would be disconnected. I've tried lots of things to get it fixed- putting a floppy in to the floppy drive, diconnecting/reconnecting USB device, restarting computer, checking for conflicts in drive…

Just purchased a used dell latitude LS 500mhz laptop, and I love it to pieces. My only problem is with the resolution, it's native is 800 x 600. I'm use to my desktop's 1280 x 1024, and I've grown fond of the screen size at this resolution. Is there any way to either upgrade my laptop graphics driver or change it some other way? It gives me the option to go up to 1280 x 1024, but when I click on it, it comes up with the message that my native resolution is 800 x 600, and that it'll effects how windows is running. When I click to proceed, it says that an error occured. Could this be a memory issue, as there is only 128mbs installed, or otherwise? Please Advise. L…

Hi, I've got a machine with Windows 98 on it, and a SoundBlaster Ensoniq soundcard, but the driver says it can't load the MIDI waveset. I've tried reinstalling them. And, these are the newest drivers I could get for this card for Win98 from Creative. Anything else I can do or is this something wrong with the card itself?

Hi everyone I’m running a Hebrew-enabled Windows 98SE operating system which switches the kbd to Hebrew characters when I press alt-shift. My problem is that when I use my computer I press alt-tab a lot to cycle thru programs, and when I do shift- alt-tab to go backward in the cycle, anything I type on the kbd comes out in Hebrew letters. How can I tell Windows to not put me into Hebrew when I press “shift-alt-tab”? (I almost never need to type in Hebrew, so I don’t mind removing this feature, as long as when I need Hebrew I can just change things back to be the way they are now.) Hey, I didn't know where to go with this. It seems like I can't use msn.com anymore. Msn.com is my default homepage and now when I go to it, and click on any link on the page it says the object has moved and says click here so I do and it gives me a blank white screen. Anybody else having this problem? Did someone hack the webpage or is it just me?

I just purchased a new HP computer with Windows XP installed on it. My problem is, at some point, my computer automatically changes the format on the 'save as' setting when attempting to save any picture online to Bitmap. It doesn't matter whether the original file image that I am trying to save is an original JPEG formatted picture. It will only give me two options, to either save the picture as a Bitmap or Art file. Then when I go to view the picture file I just saved, it tells me that the picture cannot be viewed because it is not a valid JPEG file. Is there an option with WindowsXP, to change the setting so that if the file I am trying to save …

Hi, Can someone please explain this one to me? When I run an extremely CPU-intensive task, such as recalculating a vast Excel spreadsheet, the CPU graph in Task manager sits on 50% not 100%. Does this mean that half of my CPU capacity is not being used, or is it just a quirk of the Task Manager display? Also, some forums have suggested to me that I should see two CPU graphs in TM, but I only see one. Which is correct? Info: Device Manager says the ACPI multiprocessor driver is OK. NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS env variable is correctly set to 2. I'm running Win XP Home on a Gigabyte 8KNXP MB with latest BIOS, P4 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM

In the common file dialog under newer versions of Windows, there is a set of buttons down the left hand side set by default to things like My Documents, My Computer, etc. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to change these to link to other locations. For example, I have folders that would be a better place to quick link to than the Favorites folder.

Well, I RMA'd my card and got it back (was shipped back overnight FedEx at no cost to me!) and it's all good, but now I have another issue. I was just looking at the driver settings for the card, and noticed that the AGP speed setting (choices of Off, 4x, 8x) is set to Off. If I turn it on and reboot, the driver sets it back to Off. The board supports it; I checked the BIOS and the option is set to 8x there. Is this connected in any way with my RAM speed? it's PC2100 DDR. CPU is P4 2.26GHz 533 bus. Any ideas here? Thanks.

I havent tried it before in 2k, xp does a nice job of bridging network connections but does anyone know the best way to go about it in 2k? I looked ages ago but couldnt find anything suitable. please dont tell me I will have to make one myself lol. No time for that.

Hello peops, I havent built a normal PC in a while and i will be doing it this weekend. I bought all of the parts and found a reasonable motherboard for only 20 quid. I was impressed and thought for that price i might as well. Anyway, I looked at the spec afterwards and looked at the grafix speed (4x) and then at the graphics card speeds of new ones. I dont go in for graphics much and so i dont really know but how much difference do you all think it would make if I stuck an 8x graphics card on a 4x board? Im not a big gamer but some of the people who will be using this computer are so any thoughts will be appreciated. Cheers Chris.

Hi folks, just thought i would ask but is there any chance of networking section in the forums?

I don't know about anyone but I get very annoyed with the software that is bundled with new computers. Not only it is very limited or useless in some cases, but it is such low quality that those big computer manufacturers should be ashamed that they let the software go through. One example, on my computer, the software that came with a card that had a TV and VCR connection won't work if the card itself is moved to another PCI slot, and I have to move it since the sound card won't fit anywhere else. Anybody has the same problem ? :)
