Hallo mates, Last weekend I was booting my PC when a empty bottle fell on my CPU. The system continued on booting, but then I got the message: "BOOT FAILURE... BLA BLA BLA". I pushed the reset button, and then I noticed that the HD wasn´t even recognized by the motherboard and the same message could be read on the monitor... The next day I tried to boot a hundred times, and then the PC finally booted... Scandisk did not find any problems with the disk, and I worked for more than an hour... I moved to the kitchen to eat something and when I came back to my bedroom, the system booted himself and I got the message "BOOT FAILURE... BLA BLA BLA" again... Now, everytime…

Hi I have inherited a computer that has had it's hard disc wiped for security purposes or it's previous owner. I thought that I would be able to put a boot up disc in the A: drive and navigate my way to the CD drive and download a copy of Windows 98 that I have. Unfortunately when I boot up on all I get is a message saying "Invalid System Disc replace the disc and press any key". The floppy drive is looking at the boot disc. The boot disc is an MS official disc so I don't suspect any problem with that. Am I doing the right thing or am I going about this the wrong way can you suggest how I can get a formatted hard disc to load an operating system. Thanks Charlie

HELP! I was updating a video driver, then restarted my computer. It takes a LONG time to boot up, then flashes an error message on the screen for a second, then restarts. I've tried holding down F8 to startup in safe mode, but it doesn't respond. Also, even when I have the win xp CD in while rebooting to try to repair the OS (yes, the CD drive is the 1st boot device), it won't recognize the CD either. I'm in a heap of trouble without my computer; please, any advice will save me from going insane. thanks!

Hey guys, I have an ATI Radeon 9600PRO that I'm using for my primary monitor. Now that I have two monitors, I bought a ATI MACH64 GX 64 bit video card from Ebay. When I put in the second card, Windows XP saw that it was there. However, I am having driver issues with it. When I tried to do automatic update it assumed I was using my 9600PRO for my secondary monitor. When I went into check up on the driver for the second monitor and tried to update the driver, it said that there was nothing it could find to replace the driver that i already have. (or something to that effect.) So I'm at a standstill. I want to hook up a dual monitor system to assist my in my online pok…

I’m unable to run almost all of the programs on my laptop. I get the following error message: “This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel” I can open some programs, such as WORD or Publisher if I click on a saved document. But these programs do not open if I click on the taskbar, desktop icon, or program startup icon. I cannot open or run System Restore, even in safe mode. It will start in safe mode, but once it gets to the point in the process where it reboots the computer I get a message that the computer is unable to open rstu.exe (or whatever the system restor…

I have an old pc, 1300 mhz p4 with 256mb rambus ram. I recently got 512mb more ram (total of 768) and noticed a very mild increase in performance. I've done the paging-file, and performance options in control panel > p & m > system > advanced. Is there anything else I can do to maybe put more work on the ram and free up the cpu aside from overclocking? I'm currently running xp with photoshop, dreamweaver, flash, and vegas video open... I still have 550 megs of ram free. I'd like to put it to use... any ideas? I can still send the ram back for a refund... is that the best solution?

I have a PC that randomly goes into power save mode, and cannot be brought back out without a reboot. It is an HP, bought within the last 18 months. This does not appear to happen after any one instance. I can get on The Internet and stay on for a few minutes, or quite a while. I definitely cannot open programs. I have heard of a virus attacking all files with .exe., but I am able to go to IE, and use my dial up connection. I can't run spybot or adaware to completion so I cannot check for spyware. This happens in safe mode as well.

Theres something messed up royally with my computer. For about 3 days now everytime I go to turn it on, it gets passed only the first screen.(the one that says 'press delete to enter setup') After that a blank screen appears with a blinking _ in the top left corner. I've now found out that it isn't my hard drive because I took it out and hooked it up in a friends' computer. I'm using it right now actually. I haven't got the slightest clue as to what it is. I use Diskeeper, Ad-aware, Spybot S&D, Zone Alarm, CA AV, and Panda ActivScan very regularly. This is the first serious problem that I've had with my 3-1/2 year old computer. I desperatly need help! Anything will b…

Hi, For the past two days I have been trying to recover from a simple stupid errror. After installing Symantec's SystemWorks 2005 Premier and doing a GHOST image, I attempted to turn on SYMANTEC's GO BACK and my system then would not boot. I think it may have only corrupted my primary serial ATA RAID drive and not the secondary, because attempting to post with both hooked up (or the primary by itself) gives me a black screen almost immediately and with only the secondary hooked up I get further in the post before the computer freezes. I tried moving the secondary RAID drive to the primary slot and disconnecting the secondary altogether, attempting to boot from that. …

Hi I was wondering whether anyone could explain the deal with different ratings on PSU's? I would of thought that the motherboard always draws x amount and each power plug thingy (cant remember there actual name) also requires x amount of power. But it doesnt seem to work like this. Really as much information on PSU's as possible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
