Hey its me and i have 2 huge promblems with my computer. Allright this is number 1 1. Anyways i just got cable internet for my pad and this is whats going on. Allright the the first computer that is hooked up to the internet is this P3 450 MHZ Windows 98SE 64 Ram and 4 mb video card laugh it up cause i do. The other computer my computer is this P4 2.4 ghz Windows XP Home 128 Mb Video card and 512 ram. I got the power machine. Anyway when im hooked up to the internet my sent is more than my received. Now from what i know when your sent is more than your received that somethings wrong. The crappy computer the internet is fast very fast but on mine its slower than a 56k. …

I am trying to connect to my home computer from work three different ways which usually work: PCAnywhere Windows IIS server and another Winsock program I wrote. When it works, all three work. When it doesn't work all three do not work. All the applicable ports are open on my router but sometimes I cannot connect remotely before a logon. So basically I am turning my computer before leaving home. It then stays on the logon screen. I can ping the IP which is entered into a DnsMadeEasy.com databas by my program and has good TTL. Hey, I have been using XP for about a year now and have never had a problem. Out of the blue yesterday i tried to open my documents, and it opens another window, with this " search companion' in it and i have to search for the files that are in that folder. And it is with any folder I try and open. I dont about you but i dont want to have to search for files when i can easily access them with two quick clicks of the mouse button. I have absolutley no idea why it is doing this and I have tried absolutley everything (i can think of) to get rid of this annoying as hell 'search companion'. PLEASE help!! Thanks, Rossy 28

I just got a computer from a friend who said it was working fine. Upon setting it up, I kept getting a continuous ERROR. He said he didnt get it before so instead of researching the problem, etc, I just reverted to the last backup. Now whenever it boots up, I get the warning screen asking how I want to enter windows (safe mode/regular/etc). Once I choose it begins the Windows XP boot up where it says Microsoft Windows on the screen with the little timer thing. After that the screen goes blank except for the mouse. Looking for some info for one that is new in trying to upgrade my system. What are the important things to look for when selecting a graphic's card. My motherboard will only allow a PCI Express Card. So whats important to look for for most important to whatever? Memory clock speed, Core clock, RAMDAC what is important. Looking for 256MB only no less no more. hi out there; i hope someone can help me with my problem.. i tryed to use dvd43free today, it says it is compatable with xp 2000 ,so i thought i would try it.when my comp starts up the little smily face comes on for 1 or2 seconds then my comp crashes ive tryed to start up different times but each time i do it crashes and have to start in safe mode to get rid of vthe program?? i know others that use the same program.,with no problem ,anyone had the same problem as i ??

My XP machine went nuts over the last couple of days. It started rebooting itself, and eventually, I started getting bad boot.ini messages. I have been able to get into safe mode after repeated trys, but when I go into explorer to check out the hard drive, all of my drive letters are messed up. The c: drive shows up as "#", and the other drives show up with things like "%" or "$". Once I'm in safe mode, it's really touchy, and reboots itself if you breath on it too hard..... Also, when I boot with a floppy, I can't change to the c:\ drive - it says the c:\ drive does not exist. I've already tried doing boot scan to search for viruses - no help. Does anybody know …

Hello everyone, Try to make this short and sweet. HELP!!! My system keeps rebooting on its own when I access certain applications and when it reboots I get this message: "SATA Primary hard disk drive 0 failure" Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility. I turn the system off and turn it back on and it works ok till it crashes again. Since crashing and restore carried out and SP2 reinstalled, all but one of two user accounts causes crash at desktop display interval and bottom row tool bar does not form correctly at this time. Similar happens when new account generated and attempt to use, also unable to deleted the one faulty original account ( which is one of two required ) both accounts originally had admin rights. The other remaining admin account functions normally. Can anyone help???

Hi - probably a simple question with a simple answer but - i've just upgraded my mobo and am using an existing 32mb PCI slot gfz card. I want to upgrade to a ATI Radeon 9800 pro APG x8. My mobo instruction warn me never to us x2 (3.3v) or x4 that defaults to 3.3v as this will fry the intel chip sets. Can i just plug in an x8 AGP (0.8v) card like the one above and go? I have Ibm 390X laptop..Windows XP was installed on it when I got it a couple weeks ago, problem is when you shut down from windows you have to pull the power cord and also the battery has to be removed for a few seconds or else the system hangs at the shut down logo and will not reboot untill you do the power stuff. I have allready installed every update and patch from IBM...including bios update. I recently had a IBM 390E that did not have this problem but it was running windows ME.....any ideas? I recently installed a NVidia GeForce 4 MX 4000 video card and now my monitor is shutting off by itself (it won't turn back on) every 10 minutes or so. The monitor i use is a hp pavilion mx50, was just wondering if that was the problem. If not, could somebody please tell me what is going on? My brother just brought it to my attention that the monitor would sometimes freeze up on him as well. Would also like to add that i just updated the driver and the problem is still there, any help would be appreciated. Have some new info to add. It is possible that this problem is only arrising while playing the game Guild Wars.

My pc came with XP Home edition and service pack 2, I own a copy of XP Pro but service pack 1 as I bought it like 4 years ago but it can be updated, what I'd like to know is what will happen to all of my existing files and folders/settings if I were to load that older version of XP Pro? Or, is this a good idea?

OK, I have win xp pro installed...I have re- installed the latest firmware (version 2.1A) for my sony DRU 500 ax DVD burner. BUT in windows explorer...it ONLY recognises it as a cd burner.... WTF??? What the hell is going on with this burner? Does anyone know? I even tried to re-install nero version 6.6.0.8 after I had installed the latest firmware but no luck....it STILL will not burn my DVDs! Do I just need to reformat?? For some reason....windows is not seeing my DVD burner as a DVD burner...it only says it is a cd burner! Is there a way to fix this??
