I've searched for the answer to this one but can't find it. When starting up, I hit f2 to enter setup, but xp continues to startup normally. I saw a thread about checking to see if I had my f-lock key on, but this is not the problem, (f8 puts the computer in safe mode). I've tried f12 to spcify the boot order, but f12 doesn't work either. Any suggestions? Thank you, Dave

I have a Microsoft Force Feedback Pro joystick that does not behave with my XP Pro system and Flight Sims. The disk that came with it says 'Sidewinder Game Device Software 2.0'. If I try to run the disk, I get the error message, "Cannot instal M.S Sidwinder game device software on current operating system". Is there an XP update for the software? well it goes like this...everything was working OK with my both my hard disks only that they were a slow to read n such so i had decided to defrag them in hope of faster performance. The only return that i get of defragmenting one of the drives which is my storage drive totally made it a "blank" HD. There was no data/FAT/partition totally nothing on it after running the defrag prog in WinXP and restartin the PC. That made me think twice bout defragmentin the other one. How could this possibly have happened?? was totally fine one day n dead the next....really need help to fix it (tons of data at stake) and more info on this. I have no idea what to do next :\ Than…

i can't view any temporary internet files past the date of 1/18/05. my settings are to check newer version automatically, use 4mb, and my location for them has never changed. all files are suppose to be viewable (no hidden...which shouldn't matter anyway). anyone know why nothing new will show up in the folder? if i remember correctly i was able to view contemporary files after the date of 1/18/05 (i.e. on april 10 i could check the temp net files from that day). but just about a month or so ago all the files past the date of 1/18/05 suddenly disappeared and now won't appear anyway. i've checked everywhere for troubleshoot tips, but to no avail. any help grea…

Good Afternoon Everyone, I have tried unsuccessfully to reset my Microsoft scanning presets to allow me to scan legal size documents. I have sought out the help box and followed the instructions to a letter. However, the page selection will not allow me to change the size of the scanned document from letter to legal size. When I try to print from Microsoft Word XP my conputer shuts off. My OS is Windows XP. I am able to print from other programs such as Outlook Express. Can you help me find and fix this problem? Thanks

i know this sort of a stupid question but here we go... I initially bought 1 gateway solo 5300 back in 2000... it works well and ive never had a problem with it... Now, recently i bought 2 additional 5300 series...1 is a barebones that includes the basic chassis with processor and RAM, the other a full computer that has a dead LCD...now, using the lcd panel from the working 5300 i attempted to boot up both of the others. they both boot up but the lcd receives no picture nor power even...I have tried changing connector cable, lcd inverter to no avail...so i started to fear that it was a mb issue however the comps do power up and have the SAME issue so im confused...the on…

I just installed a new MB and CPU in my computer, and was re-running windows setup so windows would work with the new components, however at random times, the computer just powers off. I either have to wait 30 minutes to get it to power back on, or clear the CMOS. I'm thinking it's a temperature problem, b/c when I up the temperature cut-off, I get a little longer in the windows setup, but when I disable the temp cut-off, it still shuts down after being on for about 10 minutes. Any suggestions?? It's a MSI KM4M-V Socket A Motherboard and AMD Athlon XP3000+ CPU Barton Core 333FSB. Any suggestions would be great..

I have recently built a new system. When I try to install window xp pro, the installer gets to the screen where it says welcome to setup, and I can press enter to install a freash copy of window, R to repair install etc. However it doesn't matter what key I press on the keyboard nothing happens, be it ENTER, R or F3. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't even work. Does anyone know what's wrong? The keyboard is PS/2 and it works fine in the bios

When it comes to motherboard bus speeds, I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, but here is how it works(for amd systems). The main clock frequency that you set is the FSB(CPU host clock), this is the base frequency from which all other frequencies on the mobo are derived. In my system its a setting called host/pci clock. There you can choose values that range from 133/33 through like 155/56. This means that the base frequency being applied to the fsb is 133 or 155 and after it double pumps its effective rate is like 266 to like 300. I have a hp 1040n with windows xp. When i plug I plug in an sd card, nothing happens. When i first got the computer, the camera and scanner wizard would automatically start. I have looked and cannot find where the settings for this feature are. The pictures are on the card and i can get to them through windows explorer, but this feature was nice and I would like it turned back on. I have installed a 2nd hard drrive as the slave on the primary IDE channel and I want to set it up with Windows ME. I have XP on my master drive. My computer has recognised the new hard drive and there seems to be no problems. How do I go about installing this O/S. When I boot from cd rom with the ME disc I am afraid of installing ME on to the master drive. How do I change things to load ME onto the the new slave drive?

Hi Everyone! I seem to spend an INCREDIBLE amount of time running scans for spyware and viruses, and yet my computers do not run properly. I run Microsoft Anti-spyware nightly, Ad-Aware regularly and have AVG freeware installed. Here are just 2 of my current issues: 1- When I enter certain URL's into IE, the entry comes back with '/?%20' inserted into the url and then the page can't be found. Does anyone have any clues as to what this is about? and how to get rid of it? Hi: I have a DSL connection with two assigned static IP addresses from Sprint. Up until today I was using a Netopia Router R910 with no problems. It was smooth as silk to be able to Remote Desktop into either of the two servers behind the router. Only one problem: New software requirements forced a VPN with higher encryption than the poor little Netopia router could handle. As a result we have a new Linksys RV042 which will handle the encryption from the Cisco routers on the other side of the proposed VPN, but we have lost our Remote Desktop Access. Does anyone know if we can access two servers behind the Linksys router ? I know that Remote Desktop uses port 33…
