On page 51 of the manual ax4cmax-ol-e.pdf (ftp://ftp.aopen.ru/pub/manual/mb/ax4...4cmax-ol-e.pdf) is written: As independent as Self-Powered PCI is, it comes in a seperate set of 3,3 volt power circuitry which supplies needed current and making it virtually free from the "loading issue" of traditional PCI slot. The document "ink_12_02.pdf" (http://www.lavalink.com/fileadmin/ne...link_12_02.pdf) says the following: PCI 2.1 and 2.2 both define six add-in card configurations, with support for 5, 3.3, and Universal (3.3/5 volt) signaling in both 32-bit and 64-bit bit variants. Each card type is designed with notches, and each connector is designed with ridges, so th…

I just installed a new HD. Did the whole Fdisk, Reboot, Format process with a 98 start up disk. Now when I try to find my CDROM drive whic tells me that my Ramdrive is D:, so I assume my CDROM drive is E: or X:. I tried to enter the Setup.exe and it keeps giving me a CDR101 error and that E: is not ready to read. Does this mean that my CDROM drive is shot or an I not entering the right command or is the 98 start up disk drivers not complatible with my (DVD-ROM)????

I need help installing an old HDD into a Compaq desktop. I bought the Compaq new in 2000 w/ a 20GB HDD. I later added another 20GB HDD to the system. My mom's old machine had a 4GB Western Digital Caviar 3400 in it. The machine she had is gone but I pulled the HD in hopes of getting the data off of it for her. I thought it would be no problem to put the 4GB HDD into my Compaq and then burn the data to disc(s). However it is not as easy as I'd hoped. The 4GB HDD is on the ribbon cable comming from the IDE 2 slot on the MB. It is designated as the Master (There is nothing else on the cable). My original 20GB HDD (the one Compaq put in) is designated as Master on…

My PC keeps restarting without warning. When it restarts I click on the send error report and I get a message saying that device error has occurred. Finally a message came saying that it is a video card driver. I don't know how to find out what video driver I have on my PC nor do I know how to look for it. I am pretty muh a dummy when it comes to computers. I am using WindowsXP. I read through my owner's manual and couldn't find any information on the video driver. The PC was built by Northgate Innovations which only sells monitors on their website. Please help, thanks.

When I connect an external USB hub to any of the USB ports on my AMD64 system running XP Pro SP2, it is not recognized as a hub but as an unknown USB device and the system asks for a driver to run it. When the same hub is connected to several other systems it comes up as a USB hub and starts working, but not on the AMD64 system. The same is true for another known working USB hub. What could cause the AMD64 system not to see it as a hub and ask for a driver for an unkown USB device? More importantly, what can I do to get it to work? The hub vendor says no driver is needed (which I think is correct, since XP has it built in). I'm baffled. Any help would be appreciat…

He's got: HP Pavillion a350y P4 2.8ghz 1 gig of value ram (2x512) 120 Mgbytes HD ATI 9800 pro video card 128mb ram 4 slots for up to 4gb of single or dual-channel memory on the mobo The PC powers on but no post, just blank black screen with fans a go. I shutdown my computer 3 months ago and put it in storage. I recently just took it out because I was concerned about moisture. So I started the computer up about a week after I got it out. It will boot, go to the window XP screen and than reboot. It continualy does this and than I finally get to a screen that allows me to do safe mode. I select safe mode and once my desk top comes up it stays up for about 20 seconds and than the computer goes back to reboot. What is going on here? I need help trying to figure out this problem. Any suggestions?

Hope someone can help. A friend of mine rebuilt a computer for me that crashed about 6 months ago. Before the crash I had sound. I installed a new HD and everything works fine except for sound. I never bothered to doing anything about the sound 6 months ago but now I want to be able to hear music and can't and would like to fix the proble. I don't have any drivers. I cant seem to get a hold of the person who built the computer to see if he has a driver for the soundcard. Can anyone tell me what else I can do. Should I go out and buy another soundcard? I really dont think there is anything wrong with this one. Thanks.

My computer crashed, shortly after i had installed a new USB peg. Ever since then i cannot get into windows - i have tried starting in safe mode, the desk top flashed VERY briefly before crashing. I then triend to restore my registery - which it said it had done but when it rebooted it crashed just before loading again. Please help - how can i solve this? I have a master CD ROM, but it doesn't read this at start up - is there any way i can get into DOS and fix this? Having read through other similar problems, i think that maybe there is something wrong with my RAM drive, if so how can i fix this myself?

I just installed an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro heatsink/fan on my socket 939 Opteron 165 which is in an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard, but the heatsink seems to be resting on the core just slightly off center, maybe by 2 or 3 millimeters. Basically, one side of the copper on the heat sink is a millimeter from the edge of the the core (the video card side), while the opposite side (near the top of the case) has quite a bit more space not covered by the copper of the heat sink. Is this normal? Are heatsinks supposed to rest on the core dead center or is a slight off center position not a big deal? If it is off center will it not perform as well, or worse, damage …

I had to re-install Windows XP. All went well after what I was told to have was a MBR virus. I reinstalled all the drivers (provided by Dell) except for the Intel Graphics 845 driver. My computer detected the hardware, and when I installled it, completely slowed down my system. It wouldnt even let me in Device Managaer to uninstall it. I went into Safe Mode to uninstall it, did that and when I booted back enter normal mode the driver was still there. I barely could use my mouse for anything. What do you suppose could be the problem? and do I really need it? Should I re-install the OS again and just not reinstall the graphics driver (Display Adapter)?

I am running WinXP on a 2 year old Toshiba laptop, and, as of about 2 weeks ago, when I launch a program, ANY program, it may start right up or it may take as long as 30 minutes to start. I have noted that Internet Explorer, Music Match, and most any game I attempt to run take an especially long time to load, while Opera, most any video file, and a few other programs start right up, although, Opera is prone to hang for extended periods. I have tried running Ad-Aware, Spy-Bot, Zone Alarm Pro and the system restore feature within Windows itself. I am just about at my wits' end with this problem, so any help anyone might be able to offer will be greatly appreciated.

Hope someone can help. I was told that my MBR was infected by a virus and that I needed to Debug it. I have reinstalled Win XP (Home Ed) and the problem is still there. I can't goto any websites. I had Norton and the virus disable that so I cant even goto the website to reinstall it. How do I fix my boot sectors or MBR?
