Hello, I have a windows 2003 server that I cannot load sp2 on, I want to know where I can get a copy of the file referred to in this KB (WindowsServer2003-KB909666-x86-<english>.exe). So far, I have only been able to find a Korean version WindowsServer2003-KB909666-x86-KOR.exe. Any help would be greatly appreciated Regards, tlbannister

About a week ago, for no particular reason I can discern, my DVD drive started acting odd. I was watching DVDs and I shut down my computer, and a couple hours later came back, and it refused to play them or even recognize them as DVDs (It seems to see them as data discs). Also, when I attempt to play audio CDs it will recognize them, but will only play the first second or so of the song, before making crackling noises and skipping to the next song. I have a Seagate external hard drive. I backed up my PC on the external drive. The drive came factory set for FAT32 format. I was able to copy some files from the E drive to the Mac. On later attempts the E drive said it needed to be re-formatted. This same message came up on both the PC and MAC. I suspect the Mac corrupted the E drive. I reformatted the external drive but obviously lost and recopied all the files from the PC. So....what is the best format to use on the E drive to swap files but not corrupt the E drive. NTSF file might work since I do not need to write from the Mac, just copy. Any help? -- JC

Hi to all who can help.... When I turn on my PC the screen resolution is different nearly all the time. The icons appear small on my desktop sometimes and the text on some web pages is hard to read. Other times every thing is the way I have it set up. Admittedly, I tried to change the settings as my eyesight isn't the best but why does it keep changing ??? I downloaded a trial version of pinnacle studio and i cannot remove this program off my computer. when i click the button from the add/remove window, nothing happens. I bought a version of pinnacle and it will not let me put it on my computer until the trial is removed. i contacted pinnacle and went through a bunch of different things, then they told me it was a microsoft problem and i needed to contact them. Does anyone know how to get this off my computer? The folder for this does not show up, but it is still listed in the add/remove list.

If someone could please help.........In changes some settings to my desktop I have apparently covered my taskbar and icons with the wallpaper and cannot access them. Also the right click to desktop properties is not functioning. They are all there if I use ctrl alt del to get to my task manager and pull up the files. I can open program windows through the task manager but cannot find where to correct whatever I've done. I believe I did it through the "display" icon in the control panel but cannot now get back to that. I think I remember choosing an option of making the wallpaper full screen in this section (not in the regular screensaver, wallpaper, settings, …

Recently I upgraded the home pc (Hpc) to Vista (Home Premium 2006). I also have a laptop (lap) at home that runs XP (Home ed, ver. 2002 SP2) I have these 2 networked through a wireless router, the router is connected to the Hpc. There are no problems with connecting to the internet on both Hpc and lap. I can see and access all (except one) of the shared folders that I am sharing between the Hpc and lap. However, the 'shareddocs' folder of lap cannot be access by the Hpc (Vista). This is where I'm stuck and have been for a couple of days trying to figure it out. I am a novice about computers. I need help. I am attempting to burn a "batch of E-mails with attached pictures to a CD, but the batch of E-mails exceeds the capacity of the CD. But Windows XP Home Edition does not recognize my DVD Burner. Where and how can I download a driver that would enable Windows XP to burn the batch of E-mails to the DVD Burner? Please Help. I have only one hard drive on my Dell Demension E510. I would like to purchase a new drive (SATA), make that my primary disk, and take my present primary and make it a secondary. Can I just pop it in and I will be able to read the disk or do I have to wipe everthing off it and reformate. Thanks for the help.

I reinstalled window xp and I have several program previously installed in my pc in C:\program file folder but they dont appear in start menu - all program how do i rectify. thank or help

someone please! help w/ this: install of 917953 fails due to tcpip.sys in use. disabled networking in control panel, restarted in safe mode-c prompt only and ran exe file. it said it succeeded, restarted and auto update still tries to run and fails??? we need a fix for this fix!

Hi all, Wondering. My 'My Documents' folder is getting a bit filled up with directories. There are however four directories I never use, and which I can not remove if I remember correctly. I mean the directories 'My eBooks', 'My Music', 'My Pictures' and 'My Videos'. Is it possible to remove these directories without them reappearing again? TIA Michel

is there a way to get win xp updates the old fashion way without putting more MS software on my machine? If not, is there a work around. I mean, I am not a MS hater, I appreciate what they offer, I just do not like having things like that on my machine especially if I can not fully control it. I seem to be having a lot of trouble with a 'corrupted file' in my windows XP. I thought I would reinstall the XP from my original CD and start afresh. Would anyone kindly explain to a novice the 'process' to save my Outlook Express to a external portable hard drive, please. I am not looking to necessarily return it back again to my 'cleaned out' PC, but would like to be able to refer to any previous correspondance and to be able to find email addresses if necessary. I'm running WinXP Pro Ver. 2002 SP2. Recently when booting, the system "takes an awful long time" to get running (the three bars in blue WinXP seem to run forever. Frequently the system symply restarts on its own. Even running on "save mode" only once-in-a-while get the system started properly. Other times, I simply let it run (restarting itself a few times) then eventually, it get going. Weird, frustrating but true. Anyone with a super idea? Thanks. Peter

My Partition is too small but that is another issue. I have a failed install of SP2. Msg states there was a partial installation and I cannot uninstall. I want to reinstall SP2...have cleared 1.3 gig of space. I have the installation files on server. What is enough space??? Can I turn off uninstall file creation to save space? What is that switch? win xp home sp2. in outlook express I try to add a sender to address book. message says that "sender is already in the address book". but its not on the list. Im the only user of the machine. and Im administrator. I only have one identity in outlook. Why? Greg

my arrow in notification area is missing. I have tried on taskbar to adjust , but to no avail, It sometimes appears and then disappears again. How do I place arrow in notification area and have it hold?

My wife used our home computer yesterday morning. We have a password to get into Windows XP Home edition as an administrator, and we have no other accounts. I used the computer an hour before her and it worked fine. She doesn't remember exactly what happened, but when she went to log on, she thinks it gave her an error message and then loaded the desktop. The desktop did not have all of our icons on it, and the picture we used for the wallpaper was gone, and replaced by the generic one it had when we bought the computer. She rebooted the computer to try to get our settings back. The windows password worked fine (and still does), but our icons our still miss…

Recently my PC keeps losing it connection to the net. When this happens, websites time out and I am unable to reach the router/modem via the IP address. I have 2 computers running through the same router (a Netgear 834) and the other is unaffected by the problem. If I boot up IE7 after a connection loss (I use Firefox normally), the Network Diagnostics for Windows XP will kick in, check connectivity, report a problem and then restore the connection (without having to turn off the modem etc).
