Each time I reboot my PC the task "iexplore.exe" is running in the background forcing me to terminate it from Task Manager. My computer is free from any kind of malware (virus, trojans, spyware, etc), I fully scanned it with at least 3 major antivirus/antispyware products. Once ended from Task Manager the task "iexplore.exe" won't reappear unless of course I use Internet Explorer. Also, I checked the Startup tab of msconfig and no reference whatsoever to "iexplore.exe".How can I fix this? Thanks.

I'd like to revert back to XP-style icons when using alt-tab. For some reason, the Vista thumbnails are much harder for me to use. Any way to accomplish this? Thanks! -- When we ask for advice, we are usually looking for an accomplice. ....Marquis de la Grange

I have a machine with several OSes installed on a single SATA disk (XP, Vista, Linux), and in updating a Linux distribution, I somehow screwed up my boot loaders. Previously, I had a grub loader, Vista's loader, and XP's loader all playing nicely together in order to boot into the different partitions. Now I can't boot to any. I've tried the Vista recovery method (boot Vista DVD and let it repair the MBR, claims to do so but nothing happens), and a few methods using my XP CD (fixmbr, bootcfg list|rebuild), but none worked. Now, I'm trying to do a "recovery" install over the previous XP installation, but the installation program is saying that the XP partitio…

Not sure what this is called, but how do I get new windows to snap open instead of the "flowing open" animation? -- When we ask for advice, we are usually looking for an accomplice. ....Marquis de la Grange

Hello there I Would like to know once a service patch becomes available. This, so that I can redress the following: Run all my hardware items such as my printers, scanner and external drives. Redress password issues in the word processor that I am using. Any relevant feedback will help to ensure the smooth changeover to this program with as fewer issues as possible.* Thanks Michael *Operating system that I'm using right now is 'Windows XP Home edition.' Service patches 1 & 2 installed.

Like or not....I went ahead and transferred my Dell Musicmatch (which I know how to use and is no problem for me) to the New!!! Yahoo!!! music jukebox. I just hate change...something new to learn again. I see that we are supposed to make this transfer by August 31. My question... will I still be able to use what I already have on Dell Musicmatch. I would think so as it is on my hardrive and cant see that it will just disappear from the computer. Also I use a RCA Lyra RD 1076 mp3 player that is not listed as one that can be used with the Yahoo! music jukebox. I guess that means I must now buy one that is compatible with Yahoo!!! or do you think I can still u…

Whenever I try to write from Vista to a folder on the XP partition I get an access-denied error. Now I wouldn't have been surprised atproblems writing from XP to folders on the Vista system partition (although I haven't tried that yet and I have no problem accessing Vista folders (not junction points) by network shares from other machines running XP). I've discovered that for an application to write from Vista to any of the folders on the XP partition it must be logged on as Administrator in Vista. If I start any application explicitly as administrator in Vista, it can then write to folders there. My problem is I want to give MirrorFolder service administra…

I like Windows Calendar but I also like being able to glance at the screen at any time to see what's coming up. With Windows XP I accomplished that with a very nice program called Rainlendar: <http://www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php>. I used DesktopCoral to keep that side of the desktop from being overwritten: <http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/desktopcoral/index.html> I really like Windows Calendar but dislike having to run it all the time to see what's coming up for me. An ideal solution would be a gadget that hooks into the Windows Calendar to show what's happening all the time. Even better, since you can subscribe to a Google …

Hello, I am using a Compaq Presario R3000, that has a Broadcom internal wireless card. I think that the driver causes a BSOD when I startup the computer from a hibernation. It does not happen when the wireless device is turned off, and when it does, the bluescreen always says DEVICE_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with a refrence to NDIS.SYS in the error. What do I do. I have already reinstalled the driver about 3 times already, used the driver that windows update provided, and I have uninstalled the IRQ controller, but none of these have helped.

For some time my Outlook reminders have not worked. They simply do not appear except when starting Outlook offline which I only do occasionally and then get hundreds of reminders at once (several weeks' worth). My IT support's solution was to upgrade Outlook to 2003 SP2 (previously 2000) but exactly the same problem remains. The reminders are clearly enabled and set as they come up offline, but do not appear when I am online which is most of the time. My reminder options under tools, options, advanced options, reminder options are set to display the reminder. Something somewhere, possibly a service of some sort, is not working! Please can you advise?
