HI i'm planning to develop a software for copy protecion. i have to know how the Ctrl+C function or the image making function was done. if any one have any idea or reference please send me the details. Sheron

I was adding a port to my network settings and it said I needed to restart my computer before they would take effect. I restarted and windows dynamic update came up. It started installing XP Pro with out any disk in the drive. I dont even own a XP disk for this to happen. Well there was no stopping this so called upgrade from happening so I waited it to complete. Hi! I have a problem that is quite annoying every time I restart the computer, the programs in the automatically populated list on the left side of the start menu are replaced with the default ones (Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player ...). I remove every one of them and the list populates correctly from programs that I run. But when I restart, all is lost. Is there a setting somewhere to be fiddled with? Also, and assume it is unrelated, I keep getting the blue screen (of death) regarding IRQL "not less or equal". I appreciate your help. - Simsen

When my computer restarts after the file-copy portion of Windows XP install, I receive the following error message: Missing operating system. If I put the same hard drive using the same install disc into another computer, it works fine. What could be the problem?

I have an IBM Memory stick and a generic flash drive which work well in XP, and I don't recall having to install drivers for them. I believe that when I first plugged them in, XP just detected them etc etc etc. I have tried to use them with my PC that has Vista installed, but after initially detecting both drives, Vista then asks me to install drivers. Am I doing something wrong here???

1. Each time I turn on my Vista running computer, a lot of pop-up windows - from both the status line og desktop - keep telling me of Vista incompatible programs or drivers. Im using Windows Vista Ultimate.... I hav installed Antiviruses and Spyware software in my system, but after when i uninstalled those software from my system, they got uninstalled but their entries are still shown in security center ( In malware protecion) and in some of those entries it still displays that they were still turned "ON" ........ I was not able to delete those entries from security center display....please tell me how to delete those entries from security center........ Hi, Is there a known problem with Maxtor USB 2 external hard drives and Vista? Mine seems to work most of the time but occasionally the computer keeps dropping the connection and then recognising it again only to drop out again.

When I try to make some changes in msconfig,i am getting an access denied error.I am the only user and am the aministrator of my desktop computer, and am running Windows XP Professional. I am using McAfee antivirus software and tried scanning the PC and it did not come up with anything. It says that i need to be an administrator to make these changes in msconfig, but like I said before, i am the admin and only user. what should i do?

When I'm doing a file search, I often want to search for a file that contains a certain text string. How do I do that? (The string is not a tag.) I don't see that option in Advanced Search as it is in XP. Thanks.

In Documents and Settings folder resides Application Data Folder, it has at least 3 gigs of file space used up, my question is, what affect does it have on the applications listed and can you safely delete any of the folders and their contents. On one of my other computers this Application Data Folder does not exist? Thanks

I am constanting getting two error messages on two ".exe" files that I have no idea what they are. The error message is "Application failed to initialize" "Press to cancel". The two unknown appliations are: NOTIFYALERT.EXE AND RNG.EXE. Also this address is displayed with the errors messages: (Oxc0000135). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello. One of the things I dislike about xp (and previous versions of windows) is that sometimes it's difficult to figure out how to cancel an action. Like when you accidentally press the right mouse button somewhere, you can press escape to bail out from the menu. Now sometimes it happens people accidentally press the left mouse button on a file or folder in the explorer, they drag around with the items and they don't want to release the mouse button somewhere and actually copy or move files. My method of bailing out in that case is to find a location on the screen where I get an icon that indicates the contents can't be copied there and I release the mouse but…

Hi I have just downloaded FCS trial version to test, and i have installed it in my system. The installation is done, after a few problems, and FCS is running in the server. The problem appears when i try to run the "Microsoft Forefront Client Security Console" - the first time you run this a new "Before you begin" wizard starts that will condigure the rest of FCS in the server - I enter all info requested (username, reporting server urls etc), the 'Verifyings and Requirements' are 100% ok but when i click next, entering the 'Completing the Configuration Wizard' step, i get an error message in the 'Collection server component' part, in the 'Reporting Server Adj…

I use My Picture Slideshow for a screen saver. When I click to return to an active desktop it takes between 30 seconds and 1 minute to display the desktop. Why so long. What can I do to reduce this to the few seconds I believe it should take. My PC is a new Dell XPS 410 with Dual Core and 2 Gb RAM. -- Glenn C
