When In want to save an animated picture and I go to "save picture as" the only thing that shows up is bmp. Why doesn't it list all of the conversions...I think I need a gif to maintain the animation because now it looses all the animation that goes with the tag I'm downloading. I have infanview and since I cleaned my computer of some of my programs, the only thing that I can convert to is bmp and very rarely gif shows up. Thanx

Hi, I asked this before somewhere else but I think there was enough noise in the question that I didn't get a helpful reply. I broke my installation of Windows XP Pro SP2 and did a repair install with a slipstreamed SP2 / XP Pro disk I made. There were several "file not found" during the repair install despite having checked beforehand that the i386 directory existed on the install disk and that that the files in question were actually present in that directory. After the repair install I found my installations of SQL from VS2003.NET and the SQL component of Outlook Business Contact manager both now seem to be broken. Additionally MediaPlayer 9 is compl…

I am running XP SP2 on one of my machines at work. When I attempt to use Disk Management to create a second partition of the C-drive (the drive is more than half empty), tt indicates that the entire drive is taken up by the original partition, and I get no option to make a second partition. I am logged on as Administrator. Do you have any idea what is blocking my attempt to make a second partition? -- John

I work with a small non-profit and we were forced to purchase a new computer when the previous machine failed. The new machine has Vista which will not run a majority of our programs. Please do not tell us to upgrade our programs because there is no money to do so. Is there any way to remove Vista and then install XP Pro? We have a fully licensed copy of XP Pro and our software runs well with it. Thank you for any help you can provide!

I get the warning message, "You have exceeded your profile space by 5058KB". When I double-click on the X Icon, I get a list of applications and their size - stating that my Max profile size is 30000KB. Question: How do I reduce remove items from my profile (or increase the maximum profile) so that I can Logoff? Thanks, Tony

I have a real head scratcher here... I've been banging my head against the wall for a couple of days now. I've stumped a friend at work who is an MCSE, and I'm just about ready to wipe the system and start from scratch. This is what I'm really trying to avoid. I have a Windows XP Home Edition system with SP2 that has been running fine for several months. This is connected to a Linksys broadband router that does DHCP. Let me stress that this configuration has worked flawlessly for months. The system is a custom built, that I built myself. The motherboard is an Abit AB9 Pro that has a pair of built-in GigE network ports. A few nights ago everything…

I am using Vista Ultimate. Whenever I re-boot, for about half an hour the whole screen freezes about two or three times. Each time it lasts for almost exactly 30 seconds. What is cassing it and is there anything I can do about it? It's not fatal, just a bit of a pain! Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Charles

Yesterday I ran a driver update for my Samsung CDRW/DVD SM - 332B device running on Dimension 8100 Pentium IV 1500 MHz 512 MB RAM Intel Pentium 4 processor with MMX/SSE/SSE 2 Windows XP SP 2 with all updates After restarting the computer the E: drive disappeared. I am at a loss has how to recover it. I have searched and searched with no results that I could use. I did try the cdgone.reg entry and that did not restore the drive. I have no error messages in the application, security or system log files. I have tried system restore and a registry restore with no results. Can someone help me to restore my E: drive? Thank you so very much, G. T.

I have another two year old XP, SP2, Symantac, all up to date. On initial booting, I get a "Windows did not start successfully...." I have tried all the options---safe mode, last configuration, etc. All lead to "Unmountable Boot Volume" message and Windows will not start. No recent hardware or software additions. This has happened before, but have always been able to reboot. Not this time after over 20 tries. Solution? -- Bill in California

Currently from our XP desktops we can remote into our Windows 2003 server but are restricted to 2 remote sessions. What must I purchase to allow more than the 2 remote connections? Thanks for any and all help.

Every day at random points my new Dell Optiplex 745 Vista 32bit machine blue screens on me. It freezes with blue background and white writing and I have to unplug it to turn it off/restart. The message it gives me is - STOP: 0x00000124 (0x00000000, 0x84C59D18, 0xB2000000, 0x00000175) I have downloaded all the updates that seem relevant but it still happens. Can anyone help/advise why this keeps on happening? Cheers
