Not simply disabled in Menu Items, also unsuccessful with ... "Open the folder c:\windows\inf and right-click the PCHealth.inf file, nthen choose "Install". If you have a Service Pack installed, select c:\windows\i386\ServicePackFiles\PCHealth.inf instead." ... the whole thing has disappeared. How to re-instate the facility, is there some other way?

In my other ME machine, when I try to download an attachement, I get this error message {Iexplore has caused an error in the Kernel32.dll. Iexplore will now closed} Although there are many articles/solutions to the kernel32.dll, none seems to describe my situation. I try to follow the suggestion from { http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?kernel32} but it seems I cannot install or replace/rename the kernel32.dll file as the old one being in use. How can I rectify this error then, thanks

I have a web site where all our clients log in. There is a Java Applet that scans a known directory for one to many files. Each file is uploaded to a servlet and on confirmation of receipt, the applet deletes the file so as not to repeat the execise next time. Everything works fine for the last 6 years, then VISTA causes a JAVA security exception on the file delete. It is impractical to deny the clients use of Vista or to visit them all. Any ideas for a zero deployment solution, please. Thanks, Steve

Hello, I need to reinstall XP home (or repair install, for present purposes I don't care). But it does not work. Here's what happens: 1. I insert the install CD 2. "Press any key to enter setup" - either I press a key or not, the result is the same. if I don't: 3. choice "Windows XP home" or "Windows setup". the former gets me to windows, the latter gets me to... 4. A blank black screen. For the blink of a second there it states that "Setup is reading hardware configuartions" or something like that. But then it's just black, it does not enter setup, nothing. this is reached by either pressing any key at (2) or choosing setup at (3). …

Diskeeper reports that my MFT is 98% used and fragmented. It suggests I let it increase the size of the table. Is this a good idea, or should it be left alone ? Phypps

Hello After pulling out a lot of hair, I finally got the MSN browser installed on my new laptop pre-loaded with Vista Home Premium, Basically, I wanted the browser to use its email client. I like it, it's easy, and, like others, I want to keep my MSN address. Within MSN email, I made it my default email program. However, if I want to send a link (from IE or Firefox) MSN doesn't come up. Windows Mail comes up, which of course, doesn't accept MSN or Hotmail. Setting default programs in the control panel doesn't help either as MSN is not listed and checking the "use current program" doesn't do the trick either. For the life of me, I can't figure this one …

I continuously get invalid or expired certificate notices whenever trying to visit any website. Does anyone know how to delete this update? It doesn't show up when I go to the change or delete programs.

A month ago my hard drive crashed and I lost xp. I finally got my old hard drive working but it was going really slow and I got a message telling me to back old files and replace imediately as a faliure is imenent. I have bought a new 250gb hard drive but couldn't install my version of windows I got with my pc as it was a recovery disk not a disk that would install windows from fresh. Now my new problem is I installed a friends version of windows last night and all seemed to be working fine. But I checked my hard drive (right click then properties) and it says its only 127gb not 250gb and when i try to play any music of a video the sound doesn't work and I get a m…

My first symptom was when I was trying to download teamspeak. it pointed me to an ftp site for the download but when I clicked on it, it did nothing or gave me 'page not found' message. The second symptom: I try to use the command prompt function 'ftp' to a ftp server I know works and It says that it connected but it immediately says "connection closed by remote host." Also, when I try to use Core FTP LE to connect to my webserver's ftp site it couldn't even connect at all. However, I did narrow it down a bit. I turned off my firewall from the security center and everything worked perfectly fine. Any insights would be appreciated. Thank Nathan…

I'm trying to find some files with a specific suffix. Search doesn't find them, so I've concluded they are hidden. I think I have properly made all files visible. However, there's an oddity. If I try to descend into folderw where I think the files should be expected, I see folders that are dimmed (yellow), but their contents are still accessible. What does the dimming mean? The files I'm looking for are should be below Settings and Documents down through Application Data. The trouble is on my fairly new Gateway laptop with Media XP. With the same program on my desktop with XP Pro, I have no trouble finding the files I seek. -- Wayne Watson (Watson Adve…

Documentation suggests the importance of enabling local log on user rights for iusr_computername (the anonymous account taken on by any visitor to a public FTP site) and indeed when I try to enter the site via browser from another box access is denied even though the welcome message I put in there appears. I want to check local security policy but it's locked, even when I enter that administrative mmc console as an administrator. (Note this is just win2k pro) Suggestions please? Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there a method of renaming all the files in a folder systematically? I have a folder full of files that begin with numbers. I want to add a 0 to the beginning of each filename (i.e. 1.xls will become 01.xls). I have tried putting the command 'rename *.* 0*.*' into command, but that replaced the first letter of each filename with a 0, rather than adding a 0. This there an easy way to do this? Thanks.

My friend's computer suddenly failed in the midst of him looking at a website. When we tried to get into check the CMOS settings, all the words appeared garbled. For example, "boot" is spelt "bont" or "Drive" becomes "Frive" etc. At first, we suspect something is attacking CMOS. But someone advise us that it may be a hardware failure - maybe a failing computer. Also, we can only start the machine on Safe Mode. If he attempts to start it up in normal mode, the screen freeze and shows a large blue and a large red block. Can someone tell us whether this looks like a hardware failure or a virus attack? We'd just like to get it fixed. Thanks a million.

A process named Agent.exe is active in Task Manager to a ridiculous degree. The name pops up as a running process and during several seconds appears to make scores of read/write calls to the registry. Then it disappears for several more seconds until it comes back up and repeats the process (over and over and over...). I tracked the program to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdatServices\. I renamed it to ZZZagent.exe and rebooted. The machine goes thru a frenzy of trying to find Agent.exe which I renamed. It tells me to insert the ScanSoft Omni Page SE 4.0 disk and etc. Finally I keep cancelling the requests and it tells me that the Wind…
