My computer doesnt support installing from the cd drive. (Its a Dell Dimension 4100, brought in 2001). So, I have created 6 boot disks for xp. I have my computer boot sequence as: floppy, cd-rom and hardrive. I inserted my bootdisk#1 and started the install..after I instered all the 6 floppies - I was prompted to insert the XP CD. I formated my drive and started a clean install. After a while it complained about not being able to copy some files - clspack.exe, javacypt.dll etc. I skipped all those. The computer promted for re-starting..II removed any floppies in the drive and restarted. Now the problem started - It was supposed to continue installation from th…

I upgraded from XP to vista and now vista wants to install XP service pack 3. Why ? and should I proceed.

Hi folks, How can I send a fax I already sent to someone else without retyping erverything? Here's what I do: I rightclick on the sent fax, ->print, and then I choose the fax console,as printer, which opens the fax console but everything is blank. What am I doing wrong? Thanks. Gabriel

Greetings, I have a new system that has a blue-screen issue that has me totally stumped. System information: P4-3.0ghz, Asus P5L VM1394, 2x1gig Corsair DDR 533, using integrated audio, NIC and video. 1 SATA 160gig Seagate drive, Antec Smart Power 450W. Temps are good: 35C CPU, 38C peak. Sys temp: 33C-35C (has two 120mm fans and stock. Voltages all look good. 12v hovers around 12.56v though but seems okay. System occasionally will blue-screen w/ minidump randomly. Maybe once/twice a day. Programs open when this occurs: Outlook 2003 + AVG Free, systray RealTek HD Manager, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. Can come from a fresh boot, fire up Outlook... …

I have a sidewinder gamepad and the sidewinder precicion pro joystick, both with gameport. I tried to install them on my windows XP but they don´t work. I did something I read about clicking "add" in Game Controllers but when I do that it appears an error. I don´t know if I need new drivers or controllers, I hope someone could help me with this thank you

Gurus- I have a XP host that McAfee says is clean, MRT.exe doesn't see, no odd processes, net activity, etc looks normal...... but... Hi , I am trying to access the toolbar with the following commands : TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>FONTS>LANGUAGE SCRIPT At present "LANGUAGE SCRIPT" is set to " Latin Based" . I set it to " Greek " then press " OK " But the APLLY button does not appear darkened and I can't press it . It works for other things but not to change the font . What is going on ? Why does Vista stop me from saving a file where ever I want? It will not allow me to save a file to my C:\ . It makes me save it to a folder under the C:\. Boy do I miss Windows XP SP2. Security is one thing, but give me a break, there are some of us out there that know what they are doing. -- eclecticats@verizon.net

I am dual booting Vista Home Premium and XP. XP is having some problems and I would like to repair it. If I attempt this will I do harm to the Vista Boot Loader? Hello, I can't switch off the read-only property of my Favorites folder or any of its sub-folders. This means that I can't add any favorites - which is a right pain in the backside. Actually, the same applies to other folders in my folder. Can anyone help me sort this out? M

When I signed onto my laptop my profile had been removed and it began reconfiguring it as if I was signing on for the first time. I logged off and back on and it did the same thing again. I logged on as administrator and went to view the profiles and mine was gone. I did a system restore from about a month ago, signed on and my profile was fine, rebooted and it was gone again. Has anyone ever seen this? I don't want to have to rebuild this system due to time. I am using XP SP2. I am on a company network with a domain. My profile is not set as a roaming profile. Any help would be appreciated.
