I have a keyboard issue in my XP Pro installation. I can't configure my email correctly because I haven't got a @ on the keyboard. The keyboard (I'm using it now) clearly isn't the issue. It's the keyboard and I'm using Windows Generic on the XP Pro. That's what it finds. Has anyone any suggestion as to how I can repair this thing? I think it's a driver issue. Thanks.

I have changed my Disk Defragmenter utility to a much mor epowerful one and I am wondering now if I should get rid of the one that comes with windows. It is probably taking up otherwise usable space on my hard drive and I don't want that. How much is Disk Defragmenter taking up, and how can I get rid of it?

Hi, I have a client with a Dell server running W2K3 SBE. He has no hardware RAID, the RAID is setup through Windows Disk Management. He is out of space and needs to add new disks. When I have this issue with a server that has a RAID controller, I can easily add new disks, let the mirror rebuild, and then extend the partition. However, here I don't have this option. Is there a recommended way to add 2 new disks to the current Windows Mirrored set without having to rebuild the box? Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards, Matthew White

Hi All I think I have just identified why Vista keeps BSOD on me. I installed the Vista Ultimate as a 30 day demo to a separate partition (D:\ drive). Then installed the Vista Home Premium (purchased) to C:\. Within a week when ever the system was not under load I'd get a BSOD..eg doing a download etc. I had installed Norton 360 for AV etc. What I think was happening was the Norton 360 would try and complete disk optimisation and when tring to access either the D:\Windows or D:\Program Files ...would cause Vista to BSOD... I disabled N360 Disk Opt.. and stability returned. I have tried deleting both folders even under safe mode and I get the BSOD, Amen…

I posted this same question 2 weeks ago, responses didn't really answer my question...Although, I did appreciate the help and thank you to all who replied! I'm still trying to determine if I have the proper product? I have one standard System Builder Pack for Vista Business 32 bit OEM sealed in it's original box and I am trying to determine if I've got the 3pk(with 3 COA's and 3 Product Keys), or just 1 copy of a 3pk(with 1 COA and 1 Product Key)? Hopefully, this written description may give you a better picture of my inquiry? I wish I knew how to post a picture here! Again, all responses are appreciated. P.S. I have contacted Microsoft Licensing and the…

Dear Sir/Madam, I am Vista user, and also have Mac too, while I try the Mac's Dashboard, and Yahoo Widget, compare with Vista Sidebar. I find Vista Sidebar is a bit not user friend, special Yahoo Widget more like to Mac OS X one, since it can press "F8" and see the widget keep below the all other windows. Hope Microsoft can improve Vista Sidebar like Yahoo Widget do, special the press "F8" and the keep below all other windows this key function. It is very useful for many user, better than need "Windows + G" or "Windows + Spacebar" this type need two key and not auto hide again if press the key again. Thank you. Best Regards, Jimmy Chan -- …

System freezes when resuming from sleep or hibernation. There is no BSOD and no entries in the logs. The easier case is hibernation, where a Vista screen shows up saying "Resuming", but nothing happens. There is no logon screen or desktop shown. When resetting the system and again attempting to resume from the saved state it works. Only the first attempt of resume fails. For sleep the situation is more complicated: it properly resumes from sleep, but ca. 2 seconds after the desktop appears everything freezes. Upon reset the system won't boot completely (screen remains black when logon screen should appear) resetting it a second time then proceeeds with normal …

I like my new computer with Vista, except or one thing, I cannot search for files and get anywhere . The search bar seldom seems to bring me any results. Can anyone recommend a file search (my own PC files, not the web) freeware I can download, or can I copy the search files from my Win 98SE computer, and if so, which files and where do I save them on my Vista computer? - M.

Well, my Vista box seems to be improved. In general, the performance is flying. The eye-candy works well, too. Installing the latest drivers from Intel seem to have solved most of the issues, bar one which I discuss somewhat further below. The beta version of the latest drivers from nVidia look like they have fixed the issues that was having with earlier versions. The network works without a hitch - I have this Vista box, an XP Pro box, and a Linux box, and they are all quite happy to talk to each other. The few software issues am still having may mostly need to be addressed by the software developers, not Microsoft, and am following up that area. Two i…

I really don't know what I'd Google for, so I'll just explain this one. I'm working on a computer that was all bogged down + had a moderate amount of spyware. I took a pile of stuff out of startup and now it's running pretty snappy-like. It's an older Dell, 1.8Ghz with 256Mb ram. XP Home, SP2 up to date. I downloaded free Avast with IE from download.com. It came reasonably fast. I installed it and then went to their registration page. The page only partially loaded and then just sat there. Well, sometime that page is slow so I decided to try later. I had installed Adaware earlier, but couldn't get the updates. That happens too sometimes, so I installed Supe…

At the moment I got a 320 GB Seagate 16 MB cache storing data. Then I bought a 250 GB Maxtor 8 MB cache considering as primary partition of Vista. I will think I should use the 16 MB cache Seagate to install Vista for better performance. Do you think there are great difference between using 16 MB and 8 MB cache harddisk for primary partition to install Vista? My PC spec: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Hyundai (Hynix) 2 GB RAM (PC400)
