1. Having to call the movie theater to find out what time the movie you wanted to see was playing. Then finding out — after listening to the entire recording — that the movie isn’t even playing at that theater. 2. Taking your film to be developed and discovering that 99% of the pictures were blurry and no good. And then immediately ripping them for fear that someone would see the awful pictures of you. 3. Turning on the TV Guide Channel right after the channel’s listing you wanted to see had already scrolled. Then having to go dig out the newspaper from the garbage can so that you could look it up — if you didn’t want to wait for the lis…

Mozilla yesterday detailed plans to require Firefox add-ons to be digitally signed, a move meant to bear down on rogue and malicious extensions, and one that resembled Google's decision years ago to secure Chrome's add-on ecosystem. Some Firefox users called out Mozilla for disregarding its own long-and-often-expressed ethos of the need for an open Internet. "We're responsible for our add-ons ecosystem and we can't sit idle as our users suffer due to bad add-ons," said Jorge Villalobos, the add-ons developer relations lead at Mozilla, in a blog post Wednesday. Firefox, which celebrated its 10th-year anniversary last November, has long been known for its laissez-f…

One King that really made a impression on me was King Solomon . He prayed for wisdom. That is all I ask for also. There is no greater force in this world than wisdom. Tonight I ask for wisdom!! Although Solomon was young, he soon became known for his wisdom. The first and most famous incident of his cleverness as a judge was when two women came to his court with a baby whom both women claimed as their own. Solomon threatened to split the baby in half. One woman was prepared to accept the decision, but the other begged the King to give the live baby to the other woman. Solomen then knew the second woman was the mother. That is truly wisdom My friends. I only wish we had…

The latest trend in the awful Windows ecosystem is pretty ridiculous — scammers have a fake version of the reputable AdwCleaner tool, which is a real tool for Windows experts. And this one pretends your computer is infected and tries to make you pay them to remove it. AdwCleaner is indeed a real freeware tool, with a good reputation for removing spyware and adware. It’s not as well known as MalwareBytes because it’s not all that user friendly, since it is meant for Windows experts rather than regular users. And the scammers have tried to mimic the interface, stealing the logo, and even ripping out the icon (badly) for their fake version. Fake AdwCleaner is Being Dis…

Hi I'm not recommending this, but this is the way I keep my registry cleaned up. I uninstalled Tweaking.com Windows All in One with REVO. Not a lot left behind unless you're a clean freak like me. I used RegSeeker to search for the left overs. 15+ were found and I was able to clean them from my registry. No big deal, but to me it does matter. If I can clean up the left behinds, why not do it! I have used RegSeeker for years for this. This is the main thing I use this software for. RegegSeeker has been around for ever. I'm not recommending this, so don't start preaching to me, because I don't believe in registry cleaners either. In the right hands, they can be a asset. I …

What are PUP's?? Are they dangerous?? Please read about them as explained by my best friend MBAM;);) They are bundled on 7 out of 8 of the down load sites. CNET is the worst one. It's all about $$$. Be very careful. I trust Major Geeks, but you need to be very careful down loading freeware. It's getting really bad out there, so be careful. Please read how MBAM is working to stop them in the link below!! https://blog.malwarebytes.org/malvertising-2/2014/07/pups-are-persistent/ Here's free software that will help a little, but you have to also use your brain and not rely on this program!! http://unchecky.com/

Has anyone used this function of WIn 8. This can be used in conjunction with system file checker. From what I am understanding if sfc.exe cannot repair a corrupt file this command can be used to restore the file. I.E. system file checker finds a corrupt file but cannot repair it, run this function and it will restore the corrupt file. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824869.aspx

Hi I like to keep the forum active. Who wants to join a forum with no action??:(:( Should you optimize your register or other wise defrag your registry?? I say yes and here's why! I use ERUNTgui. This doesn't need to be often, but IMHO it needs to be done if you are removing and installing a lot of programs. You can see that my registry didn't need to be defraged and it's been several months sense I last defraged it!!. ERUNT isn't a snake oil program and has been around for ever and it will get the job done. Please add your opinions! http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/eruntgui.html Causes for Registry Fragmentation The registry is one of the most used compo…

We have had this printer for 2 years and has worked perfectly until about 1 month ago when we started getting this message "You need a WIA driver" everytime we tried to scan. I have been in contact with Canon and have done everything they asked (uninstalled printer and drivers and then reinstalled them) with no luck. When I go onto the Windows services, it says my WIA driver is running. I am at my wits end trying to fix this and hoping someone can help. I don't understand why this has happened all of a sudden.

Hi I will start out by saying "Don't fix it if it ain't broke"Having said that up dating a driver can often fix a BSOD or other problems you may be experiencing with your PC. The best place to get your drivers is from the manufacturer of your machine. The problem with that can be the manufacture stops up dating drivers after 2 or 3 years. I have found what I believe to be a great freeware program that might help you with drivers. Major Geeks gives it a good review. I have used it and I find it to be a good program. Very easy to use. I like to use it for a reference. Again I say "Don't fix it if it ain't broke" I like to keep my grafics drivers up dated. They can be a sou…
