  1. For now, Panda warns users not to restart -- in case you can't get running again. An update to a number of Panda antivirus programs Wednesday mistakenly flagged core files as malware, putting them in quarantine. In doing so, the antivirus system ceased working. First reported by The Register, machines are left unstable, or unable to access the Internet. Panda's free antivirus, retail 2015 service, and its enterprise cloud-based antimalware service are all affected. It's not clear how many machines are affected. The company took to Twitter to warn users: "Please, Don't reboot PCs. We'll keep you posted." In an advisory, Panda said the erroneous signature fil…

  3. Meerkat is fun. But it is not groundbreaking. Live video streaming has been around the digital block. Ustream, which engages over 70 million people each month, was founded in 2007. And the pathway to 2015 is peppered with other live streaming services, some more successful than others. Bambuser, TwitCasting and Meerkat's own predecessor, Yevvo, come to mind. http://www.npr.org/blogs/alltechconsidered/2015/03/11/392116744/the-app-of-the-moment-meerkat-tests-our-desire-to-share-live-video

Think Man-Sized Swimming Centipede — And Be Glad It's A Fossil ....." The fossil was discovered by a Moroccan collector, Ou Said Ben Moula. He gave it several years ago to scientists who spent hundreds of hours scraping away its rocky casing. The "thing" that emerged is ... well ... a man-sized, swimming centipede? A 7-foot lobster without claws?"... http://www.npr.org/2015/03/11/392359786/think-man-sized-swimming-centipede-and-be-glad-its-a-fossil

As the title suggests I am on a quest. The quest is to find athletic socks that last. Currently I have tried Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, Gold Toe and many others only to find they last about 3 to 4 months. So if you have found some epic quality socks please let me know. The best I have found so far are from Sam's Club and I don't remember the name but I will find out and post it ASAP. I do remember they are a no-name brand and made with of all things bamboo. I know I was skeptical at first also. Wood socks??? Hmm... believe it or not they are great socks. Oh and this would be men's socks, just wanted to clearify

  6. SAN FRANCISCO — Facebook must face a nationwide class-action lawsuit that is seeking refunds from the giant social network for parents whose children spent their money on the website without permission. That was the ruling of U.S. District Court Judge Beth Labson Freeman who on Tuesday paved the way for a class that could include hundreds of thousands. The plaintiffs in the class cannot pursue refunds as a group because the refunds would vary, but can seek individual refunds, according to Reuters. Facebook says the lawsuit is without merit. The lawsuit was filed in April 2012 by two children and their parents. They contend Facebook let children use their paren…

  13. A couple weeks back, I reviewed the Inateck single SATA Hard Drive Docking Station and found it an extremely useful device. It allowed me to recover files from laptops that had died for one reason or another. The hard drives still worked, just the laptop hardware had failed. The Inateck dock is easy to use and flawless in function, not even requiring a driver installation. It treats hard drives inserted into the dock and connected to a USB port just like any other thumb drive. I've used it a few times since the review and will probably continue using it as needed. Some commenters to that review gave me some recommendations for other such devices to test, and I'm cur…

  15. Based on everything that Microsoft has shown us so far, Windows 10 looks like a dream come true for PC owners. The UI has been greatly improved, the additions are much more than bloatware, and we’re finally getting our Start menu back. But before you start sketching desktop orientations for your upgraded PC, it’s worth finding out if you’ll actually be able to make the upgrade when the new OS launches later this year. In order to help you do that, ZDNet has put together a handy guide that will tell you exactly what you need to make the switch. As ZDNet notes, Microsoft’s system requirements page for the Windows 10 technical preview boils it all down to a couple…

Hi ! Been cleaning up my PC. Getting rid of some of the garbage and doing a little maintenance. I have my PC scheduled to defrag once a month. I checked and it was 3% fragmented, so I ran it. 24. Researchers are warning about a new malware delivery campaign aimed at spreading Fareit, a password-stealing Trojan that can also download additional malware. This campaign is targeting users who's DNS server settings have been changed to redirect them to malicious sites without their knowledge. This can be the result of a previous compromise of their routers via malware such as the DNS Changer Trojan, or a malvertising campaign such as this one. However it happened, these users are now in danger of getting saddled with Fareit. Hi I like having a little fun Also. I did not not take the other test. Well I really did and I only got 88%. See if you can pass donetao's test. I ran Malwarebytes Anti Root Kit, Adwcleaner, and Malwarebytes I 'm going to run ESET on Line Scanner and JRT later and add the results to this thread. This is probably why I don't do well on help forums. I'm just a old country boy that hasn't been to any fancy schools except the School of Hard Knocks and I'm some times a smart arse! Here are my results Pete @starbuck . Is it a good time to create a back up image of my OS Pete. Adwcleanner found 0 malware as did the others scanners.
